  1. If you have anything that might be of interest please let me know. Thanks
  2. An original bush devil, complete less body shell but box, manual and radio all included. Listed on ebay for £80 BIN but by the time I'd read through the advert and looked at the pictures, just like that it was gone Anyone on here the lucky buyer??
  3. One on ebay currently is doing alright!
  4. Are these available anywhere? I've had a look in the obvious places but can't find any.
  5. That looks to be a genetically modified Fox! I keep looking at the thunder dragon etc and just can't make my mind up if I like the look of them, the boomerang/super sabre just look better. My best mate did have a thunder dragon when they were out originally but I can't remember much about it. Anyway, I've parked the 4wd buggy decision for now and bought the VW Golf instead
  6. Nice to hear that you are a beetle owner and fan, I was well into the air cooled scene when I was younger and fully planned on buying a beetle. But then I drove a Mk2 Golf GTI and was smitten! Interestingly, I have a '74 beetle in my barn at the moment to do a few jobs on for a friend. It's mostly cosmetic jobs but it does also have quite a loud clunk when you change gear and let off the clutch, so if you have any suggestions for what it might be then let me know! Now back to the models, I think I will go for something 4wd and from what I can tell, the Thunder/Fire family are all very similar so it will come down to price! Thanks again
  7. Good news everyone, I found the original sway bar to fit to my old Fox! Slight downside is that it is still attached to another Fox so I had to buy the whole thing (pics attached). This has now thrown up a couple of supplementary questions in my head... After getting my original Fox up and running, I decided that I don't really want to thrash it around, especially once I get it into A1 condition. I'm also unlikely give the black edition beetle a hard life when it's built, so now I need something to actually use! Prior to the acquisition of the second Fox I'd been looking at new builds and it's here I need some input from the forum. I'm tempted to get a Novafox, but is that a little daft considering I have (2 of) the originals? I'm also quite taken by the looks of the Wild One blockhead version and by all accounts it is quite a capable machine. I've also read good things about the DT03 models but don't know much about them. For instance, what level of assembly is required, after all, that is part of the fun. And lastly, having never owned a 4WD buggy, should I get one of those instead, and if so which one? Hotshot 1 or 2, Supershot, Boomerang, the list goes on! As you can see, I'm very unsure about the next step so any advice or recommendations will be appreciated. Thanks
  8. Quick update. I stripped the car down and replaced the damaged suspension parts, plus fitted a new receiver and ESC. I also opted to fit a new motor as the old one was looking a bit worse for wear. After that, the car ran surprisingly well. I was expecting it to need steering adjustment as it looks very toe in, but the steering rod lengths are correct to the build manual and it ran pretty true. I've ordered a new chassis as this one has a small crack where it fixes to the front bumper, the same thing happened to the last chassis! I've also had to improvise with the motor wires as they are too short from the new ESC. I put the old wheels and tyres on as the spike tyres just visible top left of the picture had flat spots from standing too long. Might think about fitting an ARB if I can find one!
  9. Not in Yeovil any more, I now call the Lot et Garonne region of France home. Good to hear that Hobby Hangar is still in business though!
  10. Thanks for the replies, sounds like I should be OK then on the battery front. Out of interest, what can I do with the Fox to still have control when the battery goes flat as that still has a manual speed controller?
  11. Hello everyone, hope you are having a good day. I'm having a bit of a second childhood with Tamiya after originally getting into it several years ago. After much pestering, my Father bought me a Fox second hand in 1988. Second hand because there was a reasonable chance that I would quickly lose interest, plus it was being sold locally by someone he knew! However, lose interest I didn't and over the next couple of years I really had some fun with my new hobby! My local model shop (Digi-Hangar in Yeovil) became a regular place to visit and I even managed to persuade the nice man in the shop to sell me the original box he had for a Fox, complete with a few spares. I gave the car a full resto in the early 90s and made it like new, and still have it today. It's now in need of more TLC so I've just ordered some replacement parts from Tamico. I find the suspension splits over time quite readily where the screws go through. Sometime in the early 90s my friend at the Digi-Hangar tipped me off about a new truck that was coming out. The truck in question was the bush devil and being a big fan of monster trucks I pre-ordered one. Ultimately, I altered the appearance of the truck by fitting green wheels and a grave digger body, but then sold it to fund my next project which was the Alfa Romeo 155 touring car. The Alfa was great but obviously much more particular about the surface it could run on, so not as much fun as the truck! Wind on some 30 years and I have just ordered a Monster Beetle black edition. I've always liked the beetle but prefer a different colour! I'm also tempted to try and build a Bigfoot replica which I guess could easily be based on the Blackfoot. Now quickly the questions. When I had my bush devil, I had 4 AA batteries connected to the car to enable me to still control the car when the nicad ran out. Is that still done or is there a modern equivalent? And secondly, why do monster beetle bodyshells have a sunroof when the model doesn't? Anyway, enough for now, look forward to following the threads on the forum. Jason
