  1. Sorry you're having a tough time. BTW, I installed my 3Racing pinion (the part number I referred to in my previous post) yesterday and it fit well.
  2. LOL, speaking of the other member from whom I got the idea...
  3. I'm currently building my BBX and I've put in a HW EZRUN MAX10. It too doesn't fit under the cover but after a few minutes of disappointment I decided the the cover really isn't too important anyway, so I'm not planning to use it. For the pinion I bought a 3Racing 3RAC-PG4820 pinion on ebay just for the issue you described, based on another member's suggestion. I haven't yet fit it so I can't comment on if it'll fit properly or not.
  4. Funny, I just built a Novafox to relive my days as a kid with the Fox, but I'm not planning to run it all that much. As a 2WD runner I'm currently building a BBX. Since I don't have much modern experience with the running the Nova, I can only speak to my times as a kid with the Fox. I ran that model through badword and back. The only trouble I really had was with the two RWD driveshafts slipping, but thankfully these were replaced with dogbones on the Nova. I do seem to remember having some gearbox issues (I stripped at least one set) but I think it was mostly the driveshafts that were problematic. Oh yeah, I did break the chassis entirely in half at one point (the gearbox completely broke from the front half of the chassis, but this was admittedly from abuse ... jumping 4-6ft off the ground and landing on concrete over and over again). I still have this Fox sitting on my shelf and it's completely worn and not worth trying to rebuild, as it would need so many new parts to replace the worn ones. It's funny to see all the MacGyver repairs that I did on it as a kid! The reason I got a BBX as a runner instead of running the Nova was simply that I have never had a modern Tamiya kit and thought the BBX would handle a bit more abuse considering it uses more modern plastics and is of a more modern design, plus I really enjoy the building process. I also didn't see many others running the Nova with the 3300kv motor and 2S lipo that I'm putting in the BBX. I've got the stock RS540 motor in the Nova. I did buy a spare pinion and gear set for the Nova just to have them on hand...
  5. I'm a mediocre solderer at best, so I'm not really comfortable giving out advice. I've watched several Youtube videos about soldering to help me along. That helped a lot.
  6. I noticed the same thing with the SPT4412LV, poor centering, even at no load on the bench after I tested it on my BBX. But, I'm just bashing so hopefully I won't really notice it while driving.
  7. Yes, you can, as long as you can solder decently. I just got done doing something similar myself to a new ESC (I didn't swap connectors but I had to lengthen the battery connector wires). Shouldn't affect power unless you're solder job is really bad!!
  8. Just to throw in another option, the DUMBORC X6 (as well as the Surpass Hobby CH6, they are the same radio) are good inexpensive options with inexpensive RX's. I have the Surpass, although for only a couple of months now, and I'm happy with it. Bought from Amazon.
  9. Thanks. I'll keep that as an option and let you know!
  10. Looking for a single spare front tire and wheel for the BBX to mount on the rear. I hate to have to buy a new set of four only to use one and I thought some others might have already done this and want to make some money back on their spares. Located in Kentucky, USA. Thanks!
  11. I've been using LiPo's for about 13 years, mostly to fuel the R/C heli's that I've had and still have. I've used packs ranging from 2C 300mAh to 12C 5100mAh. I've never had a battery smoke, explode, catch fire, or anything else. I've been around Lipo's at the local flying club for longer. I've never seen anyone else's battery catch fire either, that I can remember. I think it comes down to proper charging and usage, as well as using good chargers and not storing at 100% charge. I never keep a lipo at 100% charge for more than the time it takes for me to remove it from the charger and put it in my model to start using it. I always store at 40-50%. I treat all lithium batteries essentially the same...don't keep them at 100% charge and store them at about 40-50%. Even my phone battery I typically don't charge to more than 85-90% (but this is not really for safety but to get better life out of it).
