You could send them a message that tells them that their mothers smells of elderberries... All the contacts I have with our japanese supplier I speak english and some of them are not *that* bad at it... id="quote">id="quote">I work for a Very large Japanese motor company. (Toyota) i contacted one of the Japanese girls that work there and she translated the emails for me. She sent it care of Toyota so hopefully the emails will get noticed. The emails weren't sent by an automatic translator as they are unreliable. I did also send emails in english too but from me and not the company.
  2. A lot of you may have read an earlier post by me explaning that ModelBuild was selling copied dvd's of the movies that i had for sale. Firstly, i am going to apologise to you all for posting those remarks about modelbuild. There were some unnessesary coments made by me but my reasons were justified. Modelbuild sells quality tamiya parts and many of you have purchased from him in the past. I too have bought many parts from him and he has always given me good service and quick delivery. There is no reason why any member on this club shouldn't use him for quality spares and kits from either his own website or from his ebay shop. Secondly, i want you all to know that Modelbuild has Agreed to withdraw his sales of the dvd in order to regain some of his lost reputation caused by this matter. He has a genuine tamiya passion like us all. Lastly and this is the sticky bit... I dont hold copyright over the films that tamiya produced. Tamiya intended them for promotion of their products only. They never made them available for general public purchase as they were intended for the authorised and licenced retailers to display in their outlets. I have a passion for these films and have spent many years tracking down these tapes and managed to get hold of the original collection of VHS tapes that tamiya made. I have 16 tapes in all and I have even managed to get the last remaining films that tamiya produced of some of the more recent additions in their product line up. I selected numerous films and encoded them into a file format suitable for DVD. I watermarked the films with my ebay and TC id. so people would know who made the DVD. As i gave ownership to the author and creator of this DVD, in effect i have created some kind of copyright to the DVD that i made and not the contents. I can provide a link that will back me up on this which was kindly given to me to support my cause. http://www.intellectual-property.gov.uk/st...yright/what.htm I have sent numerous emails to tamiya in japan via a japanese translator explaning the situation and if its ok or not to continue. I still await their replys. I was hoping by distributing these films to you all i would be promoting the models that they made and giving you all a chance to see the tamiya films that some of you haven't seen for a long time and for others who have never had the pleaseure of viewing them. i have noticed that when i posted the Blackfoot movie in my movie section here on TC i created a Blackfoot frenzy with many people rushing out to buy second hand blackfoots. I hope that Tamiya will re-release the blackfoot due to this increased market for them. Tamiya seam to know what they are doing in re-releasing the older kits like the XR-311 and the Grasshopper, hornet and the newly re-released Lunchbox, to which i am now a proud owner of. I hope that i have not created to much bother or inconvience in this matter, and as a final comment, i want to thank all of you who supported me in this issue and those who emailed me and gave me valuble advice as to what i can and cant do. Thanks again Neil
  3. Sorry its a late reply but i have been buying bruisers and mountaineers and the odd lunchbox or too.(All from cash im GOING to save from not smoking []) Good on ya Scorchio. Cutting down your intake to having a ciggie after food or leaving it until you finish work is better than smoking when you have nothing else to do. thats how most folks end up smokin 40 a day... i used to enjoy my smoke after food as it made me enjoy my meal and gave me something to look forward too. Personally i now miss that, and as much as food now has more taste, i still miss that after dinner smoke...I still havent smoked since i started this thread, but every time i now go through the comments in this thread i have an urge to smoke. i suppose that is the reason why i haven't been back to leave comments.Sorry Folks
  4. Hello everybody. Sorry for the lack of interest in this topic. Since giving up smoking, i have had to find new things to keep my mind and hands occupied. I am still not smoking and havn't smoked and am finding it difficult. I have had a few arguements with my missus over silly things. We both put it down to frustration of not been able to smoke, but we always kiss and make up as we know that we will be better people for giving up. I have lost a bit of interest in my cars lately and have sold a number of them off on ebay in the hope of raising some cash. We have decided that we would like to buy a new Caravan so we can enjoy more short breaks together, and new ones ain't cheap so we will need to do a bit more saving yet. Its a bit difficult to save lots of money as my taste for mountaineers has bitten me again and im on the hunt for one again. maybe one day i will find one. Anyone got one to sell me please??? I would agree that giving up smoking has been one of the hardest things i have ever done. Its put a strain on my relationship with the missus but like i said earlier.. we always kiss and make up. I now am addicted to chewing gum and have gained a bit of extra weight as well. I used to enjoy a ciggie after food, now i just enjoy food after food. And i have gone right off the beer!!! Friday night was an awkward moment. We were invited to one of our friends wedding night bash.. after the usual buffet, the best man, groom and a few other chaps approached me and offered me to join them outside to smoke the celebratory customary Cigar. Even the non smokers were going to do it. At that point my cravings were at a high. It would be rude to turn down the offer. Anyway.. I explained that me and the missus had just quit smoking and the temptation was high but i didn't want to ruin my progress. It was awful seeing them inhale that thick smoke and they looked like theye were enjoying it too. It was too much for her as well and it wasn't much longer after that that we left. My advice is still to give it a go if you want to quit. there will be many hurdles to jump over and rivers to cross, you may even find yourself having to rebuild some bridges when your temper flies. But Keep at it and just say to yourself that you dont need one!!!
  5. Ok... You are right mud4fun. This thread was created by me to find out how many smokers have tried to quit and what methods that they have used to help them. I never intended for this thread to be lengthy debate to single out smokers and for non smokers to quiz us on why we smoke...There will always be a big question mark about that debate.. In all, this thread has got so big that it has kind of deviated away from what i intended it to be used for. Since i started it, i haven't smoked. Its not because of what i have read in this debate but because i wanted to stop in the first place. I thought i could use this thread to gain support from other members and i would give my daily account for you all to see my progress. You will probably notice that my daily accounts have stopped and this is because this thread has gone slightly off topic. I still am grateful to all the members that have given me their support to stop and now i think its time for me to go about this on my own. Its only been a week and no doubt and i still have got a long way to go for me to properly say that i have given up. I have noticed that some of you have already managed to quit before and managed to stay smoke free for a couple of years and then because of something that has happened in your lives, have started again.. It must be one of the reasons why the call it the evil weed... Please.. if anybody out there who wants to stop smoking then all i can say is give it a go. There are many reasons to stop and probably more reasons that you wouldn't want to. Im sure all these reasons have been debated in this thread. All i can say is that you should never be made too feel like you should give something up that is important to you. (My missus would love me to give up my collection of tamiya RC models but i think that giving up smoking would be easier) You just have to accept the outcome of what COULDhappen and dont be made to believe that it WILL happen. You are your own person, and you decide your outcome. Do what feels best for you, and if it feels good then do it.. Giving up smoking feels the best thing i could do. And that is all i can say. Thanks Neil.
  6. quote:Originally posted by tamiya_89I think it is good to forbid smoking at public places and on work places. As smoking doesn't only affect your health but also the health of others. But here in holland there special smoking places at work and like smoking restaurant places etc. What i don't think is good to put taxes on it as people will buy it and it just is there own joice. The only thing they good do is not advise it make commercials for it ore allowing it in public places. BTW Luch Rocs you're doing graet seems like you're going to make it. Good luck with the next days and tell us how you're doing without your fags. Wich colour are you making you're mini cooper? id="quote">id="quote">I was thinking of going with a Rothmans theme...LOL[]
  7. Tamiyas worldwide export of kits only counts for a very small percentage of their production. Most of the kits that thay have produced and are still producing are sold in the japanese market as japan is still their biggest customer. many of the new in box kits like the bruiser and mountaineer and even the blazing blazer and sand scorcher to name just a few have been sourced in japan where there still must be a good few knocking about. You will notice that the sellers on ebay that sell these rare kits all trade from and live in japan. If you go through the locations and countrys that ebay lists worldwide you will notice that japan is not one of them. I.E you will find the uk, germany, austrailia, hong kong etc but no japan. I work for a japanese motor company and several technicians come over to the uK quite regularly and i asked them about ebay and they hadn't even heard of it. So any sellers from japan that use ebay as a selling platform kind of pioneer the rare tamiya kit market.
  8. Yes. In the uK, all cigarettes, cigars and rolling tabacco carrys the same warnings about how they damage your health, give heart and lung disease and how smoking can affect pregnant girls. There are so many warnings that i see a new one every time. The uK goverment is also planning to outlaw smoking in public places like bars and resturants and soon the workplace will be affected. They are also planning to give on the spot fines for people caught lighting up in the street. I think that soon, the only place that you could legally smoke is in the comfort of your own home. The uK goverment have hiked the taxes on tabacco products so much that it is one of the most expensive countrys to by tabacco based products. so now you can get taxed for buying it and soon fined for smoking it... I wonder what would happen to our enconomy if everybody was forced to quit smoking? where would the goverment get their revenue from?? as tabacco and alcohol count for a major part of our taxes.. I know that is quite un-realistic yet but one day it could happen.. I suppose that they would just put extra massive taxes on petrol and fuel (like they dont do that already!!![!]) By the way folks im still not smoking and i survived a night in a resturant and managed a few beers without having a smoke... Im quite proud of that[]
  9. Here is another that my missus told me last night... Only three doors An airline captain was breaking in a new blonde stewardess. The route they were flying had a layover in another city. upon their arrival, the captain showed the stewardess the best place for airline personnel to eat, shop and stay overnight. The next morning, as the pilot was preparing the crew for the day's route, he noticed the new stewardess was missing. He knew which room she was in at the hotel and called her up wondering what happened. She answered the phone, crying, and said she couldn't get out of her room. "You can't get out of your room?" the captain asked, "Why not?" The stewardess replied: "There are only three doors in here," she sobbed, "one is the bathroom, one is the closet, and one has a sign on it that says 'Do Not Disturb'!" As above. If anyone finds offensive please remove.
  10. I think it would be a good idea to have a section for clean jokes like this. I laughed my self to the point of coughing when i read this. A little humour oils the wheels of life[]
  11. I would wait for a little while until a few more come up for sale. I wouldn't pay over $3700 for a NIB bruiser when they usually go for about $2000. I know that their value can go up but NIB mountys usually fetch more than the Bruiser and as there have been a few of them up on ebay recently all for around the 2K mark. I think the guy selling the NIB bruiser is a bit of a chancer... If he get his price of over 3 large then he will be laughing all the way to the bank and will probably pick up another one somewhere else for about 2K. You would be really gutted then...
  12. Probably as the Bruiser was an earlier release. Also as there have been a few mounty NIB creeping up on ebay at the minute. The greater the quantity the lower the current value. I have seen a few Bruisers going for the $2000 price tag in recent months. Must be a supply and demand thing..
  13. The speed controller that i had on mine was different too. The bruiser had different connectors off the battery lead so that a 6v or a 7.2v battery connector could be fitted. As far as i know, the Mounty only had a 7.2v connector fitted, as tamiya had discontinued the 6v battery by then. I have just checked this on the manual.
  14. On a serious note though... I said that i was going to use this thread to help me give up smoking. I have noticed some very serious and valid points and also that an amount of humour is creeping in. This is great as In all, i haven't smoked since this thread was started by me a few days ago. It really does go to show that help, support and encouragment from others really can help you to do something that is important to you. Sure, there has been some tense moments and a few sleepless nights since i stopped but this thread has kept my willpower going and my confidence to stop totally is building by the day. THANKSid="size4">id="red"> to you all for keeping this thread going.. LunchROCS
  15. thesuper... Ahhhh. The powers or Humour [^] I now have long floppy ears and my finger nails are turning a yellow/orange colour and my top front teeth are getting longer by the hour. i now find it more confrotable to sit crouching down with my arms up by my chest, my hands together with my fingers pointing down. I am getting a bit worried about the amount of fluffy white hair sprouting from my rear end though...[] next week i will be mainly feasting on sprouts. Im hoping to produce bottled gas that i will sell to pay for my surgery to remove my big floppy ears..
