Nismo R34 GT-R Z-Tune TT-02D MOTOR options
ThorsNana replied to ThorsNana's topic in Build Tips and Techniques
I truly appreciate all of your advice! I've learned so much from this forum and you have been so helpful!!! This morning when my plumber was over, we started talking about RC cars because he's worked with them for years. He took a look and suggested exactly what alvinlwh has above. When I changed out motors, I didn't tighten the hex screw on the flat part of the pin on the motor. Once I did that it worked!!!! WHEW!!! Thank you all so much for your troubleshooting and help!!!! I charged the battery to see if it was the battery, but there is no change with the current motor (have not replaced it with a new one). Then I checked that the pinion was properly placed in the spur gear. It appeared to be. I retested and the wheels still would not turn. Then I took each of the wheels off to ensure their pinions were placed properly and they were and tested again. Still not working. You can hear the motor rev, but the wheels don't move. I'm sure it's an easy fix, but pretty frustrating.- 21 replies

I will double check that. What's weird is how the wheels worked just fine after buying a new motor, but then it did the same thing again. So before buying a third motor, I wanted to figure out what's causing it. I'm wondering if the ESC needs to be replaced too? I'll double check the pinions too.- 21 replies

It still had power, but the wheels would not spin. So when I reviewed the troubleshooting guide in the manual, it said to make sure the battery was charged and if that was good to change out the motor. Once we did that, it worked again - for a short while. It did appear to have a little debris in the motor the second time too, which is why I was wondering if there was a sealed motor option. I just tried it again to provide more detail. When we try to go forward or reverse, you can hear the motor rev and the LED light on the ESC lights up, but the wheels don't move. I should have provided that info in my first thread. Any other thoughts?- 21 replies

I am using a Tamiya Ni-Cd Battery 7.2V 1300 mAh, and the Tamiya TBLE-04S ESC. The kit is completely stock and the debris was a very small pebble the first time. The second time I couldn't even see much come out. The wheels move just fine without power. Thank you so much for your questions!!- 21 replies

Sorry, this is our first RC build. We took a long time to build and took extra care to ensure everything was connected properly. We tried it out on the driveway and then the street, but it appears a small piece of debris was in the motor and stopped it. The second time, it seemed like the same thing. It works beautifully until that happens. I appreciate your help!!!- 21 replies

Need expert motor help! What other motor options are there for the Nismo R34 GT-R Z-tuned TT-02D Drift 1/10 scale RC car? We've replaced the Mabuchi RS-540 sport tuned motor twice. It works for about 10 mintues and then quits. The battery is fully charged. It appears that it may be small pieces of debris getting in the motor. Is there a sealed motor we could use? This is a great drift car, but we'd like to be able to use it more than 10 minutes and then replace the motor. Or, is there a fix to the motor?
