Blitzer/Monster Beetle: why no rear “glass?”
DearHighRacingClub replied to Smokescreen38's topic in General discussions
Do any of those cars actually use the glass for the rear lights? Also, very much not a fan of the open back window. Perfect place to pick up your car (NO, it's not!) I think I'll combine a DIY spoiler like the one pictured above with a nice net (like the type used in the Hotshot). Actually thought about cutting out the side windows and net them as well And get a second driver ... And maybe some jerrycans .. and centered servo ... and ... and !!! Oh, and the MB boxart is terrible. So is the name, too much on the nose and pales compared the beetle before But I'm on a Baja trip lately (lots of good stuff on YT) and there's just so many cool looking ones to beb inspired by Cheers, Ole -
Hotshot is quite a fun build with it's two mono shocks and complicated linkage. I'ts also one of the easiest to paint And it's the best looking Tamiya buggy. This is not debatable

Well, he smashed it at high speed directly into my Hot Shot. Guess who is fixing and who is laughing? A link to that motor plate? Cheers, mate

I dig that i'm only interested in the classic ones (and only if it's a re-re, the build is where it's at!) So for me there's only like three categories ; bathtub, frame and plate type of chassis Bathtub ; I got a Hot Shot - I do not need anymore from this family (but I do have a Grasshopper/Hornet mashup) Frame ; ORV FTW,! Got a Monster Beetle waiting to be build. But I'm quite keen on making my "own" type of ORV in the future Plate ; I want an SRB. The Fighting Super Champ Buggy looks like the most fun build But I REALLY get triggerhappy to buy when I see the Lunchbox, Thunder Shot and the Big Wig That fancy new BBX also look rather interesting ... And I'd love a Stratos but not keen on that rally chassis nor the old one Keeping a collection down to three, or six cars, is possible right? Right guys?? Cheers, Ole

Ahh, so you were the guy who outbid me on Tradera Now, my max bid was only 250DKR/30EUR so congrats! It's quite the Madmax car! Yes, a load of parts are trash but I do dig the wooden parts. I'd restore it with the crazy external cage/rollbar thing if it was me Good luck and I'll follow this restoration. Perhaps take it to right part of the forum? Cheers, Ole

I gave a Gorgon to my gf's son as he didn't really enjoy the Grasshopper build/experience We have a local dirt/ice and skateboard track here and it's just terrific in that enviroment! Very sturdy and just fast enough (standard 550 motor and NiMH) However, the lexan body is made of eggshell and should most definitely be braced with fiberglass/glue, reinforced from the inside I gave him a screwdriver set with Allen bits. The standard wrenches can destroy the 2-2.5mm screws even in the hands of kids Also beware that the motormount's screws are NOT secured with Loctite and the motor WILL dislodge on a hard landing But it's a darn good bbasher for that price. I got several other kids to buy one and now there's a tiny Gorgon Basher Club in my (equally tiny) town Not Tamiya, but still RC Cheers, Ole

Just a real bummer the colour of the nose do not match the stickers I'd really like to use those stickers on my MB! -
Mulling over a return to Nihm… thoughts?

Such a fascinating story! I fondly remember watching the Star Wars OT on this bad boy many moons ago at my local hifi shop -

Could do that but I've bought another fancy looking one for my next project and this one gives me a good excuse to buy a Fighting Buggy as the SRB gearbox hides it -
What's the rarest vintage R/C item you own?
DearHighRacingClub replied to Hibernaculum's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Since they're the only vintage RC items I got, they by definition, must also be the rarest The 50208 ORV BUMPER AND GUARD SET I bought this specifically so I could get that cool Froggy metal underguard. I found this on EvilBay from a company in Spain that seems to sell mostly clocks? The Walton Group They seem to have a lot of old Tamiya stock but it's listed by part numbers not by car? Interestingly, this lot was listed by the SP50208 number, a Hop-Up sold by "Fantasia", but he tiny instruction manual names it "KIT NO. 5208" n the top right corner, but just under that to left, its "208". It's printed in Japan in 1984 Anyway, this goodiebag was shipped to me for less than 14EUR which is very reasonable Cheers, Ole -

So, now for something rather terribly boring .. A Sport Tuned motor! (Not SportS Tuned as Tamiya.com calls it) Now, it's been quite sometime since I bought one last, but I'm not a fan of the silver can with a slapped on sticker It is a rather pricey motor and I much prefer the black can However, four years ago Tomley tested it (along with a black can and a fake one) and it's actually a bit faster than the old one Cheers, Ole -
