Will try thread lock. Any chance you have a link for an aluminium servo horn that fits? I found lots but not sure which one is suitable. This was the cheapest servo I found haha. Sorry, what are standoffs? Where can I get those? Thanks for your patience everyone. I am new to this. -

Regular steering trouble 2015 Monster Beetle

The screw that came with my metal gear servo doesn't seem to be tightening properly. Both the screw and the servo's top stud (where the screw attaches) are metal. I'm concerned because there's very little resistance when I screw it in, and it feels like it could easily come loose. -
The steering on my 2015 Tamiya Monster Beetle keeps coming loose every 15 minutes when driving, even on smooth surfaces. The steering saver also occasionally disconnects, especially on rough terrain, and it's difficult to fix while out driving. I'm looking for a more durable and reliable steering system upgrade for my Monster Beetle. Are there any heavy-duty steering overhaul kits available? Anything else I can do? Thanks

Newbie question: Tamiya Monster Beetle 2015 upgrades
larsd replied to larsd's topic in Build Tips and Techniques
I just got a new (brushless) motor and ESC but I think I have burned my Tamiya TRU-08 receiver. Did I do something wrong? I removed the old ESC cable and replaced it with the new ESC cable. Didn't even connect the motor and just wanted to check the servo. Connected the battery to new ESC but LED from receiver never came on. Connected the old motor and ESC and LED still off. Battery is standard old 7.2v 1300mAh ni-cd. -
Newbie question: Tamiya Monster Beetle 2015 upgrades

That's all correct but the battery (which comes with the Finespec) needs to be charged and the provided charger is 100v. (btw still not sure how to know when to stop charging the battery as they say don't overcharge but that's another question) Why wouldn't I want that? I know the model isn't really made for fast motors but I would like to add a bit more power. Assuming I change to a brushless system, which items do I need? Assume I need to change the differential? -
Hi everyone, I'm 43, and my wife recently got me the 2015 Monster Beetle from Japan—something I always wanted as a kid but couldn't afford. I built it in a few hours, and it works amazingly well. I also got the Tamiya Finespec 2.4 set (including the remote, servo, etc.), which was a bit of a challenge since Japan uses 100V and we have 230V here. I also installed the recommended ball bearings during the build. Now, I'd like to make it as fast as possible by adding another motor. However, I assume I'll also need a new differential? Which motor is compatible with the differential? Will I need a different battery than the one that came with the Finespec? Are there any other components I should consider upgrading? And most importantly, since physical retailers are scarce in my country, can anyone recommend a trusted online shop with international shipping for these parts? Thanks a lot!
