  1. Get the grey edition wheels and paint them, the regular super clod wheels might need more prep because of the chrome plating. Or... You can get the JConepts Tribute wheels in white.
  2. @netsmithUK I don't want to be a badger, but it's been 7 or so days since I paid to subscribe. I get that people have things to do, but a response or any bit of communication from any of the staff would be better than complete silence. If something is going on, don't leave me hanging in the dark.
  3. I've been working on some rules for the stage 2 retro and stage 3 modern trucks, the local hobby store owner does have some interest but to get anything going we need insterest from other people. This might take some time, but I think other people want to run stuff that don't fit the traditional rules and theme, like trucks with independent suspension. I might try to work on a set of rules for those trucks. Maybe I'll call it the "RUN WHAT YOU BROUGHT" class or something, but the issue is still finding people who are interested.
  4. Hello yall! The solid axle monster truck racing scene seems to be going pretty from what I can gather, I know a few people are interested, but no such clubs seem to exist in northern New Jersey or close areas. If anyone here is interested, drop a message, it would great to organize something. Also, yes, I do know of RCMTCNY. They should take NY out of their name.
  5. Another update! More rain and not enough time for testing and tuning. Still can't paint yet, because it won't stop raining during my free time. The decals along with other decals for other projects are in shipping limbo. I don't want to start or continue on another project until I get this one to a more functional and at a more finished point. I've had no time to run any of my other cars as well, oh well.
  6. Frankenbuilds can be pretty cool, looking forward to them if you do any.
  7. @netsmithUK I'm hoping for good news today. Are you ok?
  8. Years ago I bought a used HBX TL01 clone thingy. It was awful, trust me. The gears were deformed and had trouble rotating, the size or mounting holes of some of the parts were off, the rear gear case cracked. It was such a piece of crap, I ended up replacing almost every part, including the screws and pins with Tamiya parts, so I eventually ended up with a new Tamiya TL01. The funny thing is, I took the leftover HBX parts and built a crappy car out of them. So I somehow ended up building two cars, lol.
  9. I usually keep spares in multiple boxes, sometimes to save space I'll cut the parts off of the spures. I also have a box of just new parts that are still in the packaging. I try to keep a good inventory of replacement parts that I might need, because breakages do happen sometimes and many of the Tamiya stuff is not in stock at the local hobby stores.
  10. The issues I have found on my not so old CVA shocks is dirt or contamination in-between the O-ring and shock shafts, which is cause them to leak. So whenever I run into these issues again, I clean the O-rings, save them if good and replace the outer O-rings with square or X-seals, which by design will wipe most of the contaminants of the shock shafts.
  11. Looks sweet! With most of the weight in the rear, the front becomes lighter and front the tires and suspension seem to be less effective. To help improve the handling, I have put a stack of washers on the front body post. Also having the front end lowered and the rear just a little bit higher helps with weight transfer and improves the handling dynamics of the hornet evo. As for the steering not centering, check the servo too. If your clearances are fine, you could be getting servo drift.
  12. Yes, but I can't PM NetSmith. It's not just TCphotos, it's for other features on the main site as well. I thought that end of it would be automated or something, I used the same email too so there should be no confusion. I don't know what else to do, I don't even know if any other admins have been available for days, except for acprc who has been gone for over a week the last time I checked. I get that moderating the forum and main site may be a voluntary thing, but communication from no one seems weird. Is there something going on? Is it aliens? Are supernatural events happening? (X-files theme playing in my head now.)
  13. LONG LIVE THE GRASSHOPPER! LONG LIVE THE HORNET!
  14. Four days since I paid. WHAT'S GOING ON!? No really. I have no communication from any of the staff. If there is a problem can someone or anyone admin or mod say something? Is everyone ok?
  15. I know a contractor who had half his face paralyzed, he did not let his damaged nerves stop him from working. Sure it was rough for him, but he got things done. It may be a long bumpy road to recovery and still not 100% in the end, but don't let the negatives drag you down or they will take over your mind. Take control now, look forward to the positives, set goals, celebrate progress no matter how small it is and take in the love from family and friends. Take advice from people who were or still are in similar circumstances, who are still getting things done everyday. Just like @junkmunki said " Stick with it". I wish you the best and hope to hear about your progress in the future.
  16. Good job👍 I do think the Hotshot 2 is an improvement from the first Hotshot, not much of an improvement but still better with protection for the battery.
  17. I don't have a a favorite or a "go to" ESC, but I have bought a few HW 1060 ESC's. They are just cheap and simple, that's all I wanted for a few projects, nothing fancy, just works with no fuss out of the box. Since the HW 1060 is so cheap, I keep one new in the box as a spare for future projects or repairs. I have other speed controllers as well which I have obtained from trades and from old cars that don't need them anymore, so sometimes I won't pass some up on used, dirt cheap but perfectly working speed controllers and radio gear.
  18. F-350 High Lift. I've modified mine a bit over the years, I have not really given it much attention lately, probably because I need to clean the battery corrosion out of the stick transmitter or just update the radio. My High Lift did well in the right environment, especially with some good grippy tires. Maybe someday I'll give it an update and finally upgrade to ball bearings, lol, yes it's still using the kit bushings. Anyway, the prices have changed and increased quite a bit since I bought mine, which was very early after it was released. If you are set on getting one, just keep that in mind and it makes the trailfinder 2 look like a bargain. It's a bit hard to justify buying one now, but if you have the itch and are dead set, go for it. As a car guy I understand, we feed our itch, which is why my previous daily driver was a 43 year old car.
  19. Looks like fun! Building a car from collected spare parts here and there is just a satisfying feeling.
  20. Looking good👍 I like the build so far, it's coming together really well. Also, I just ordered a Bigfoot 4 body from the local hobby shop. Those old bouncy monster trucks are just so cool.
  21. @netsmithUK I just paid for a subscription, but I don't know what to do. I don't have the perks on the main site unlocked yet, so is there some time I need to wait before I have access to them and tcphotos as well?
  22. Thank you. The insane crackhead asking prices is the reason why I built mine from new parts, which made it technically a new car, just with some upgrades. A few ok deals on used trucks have popped up overtime, but since I built this one, I don't need to spend more money on something I don't need. The overpriced crackhead deals I believe are still listed or have not sold, which is what I expected. People think they have gold, but it's just plastic junk. I recommend waiting for a decent deal to come along or somewhat taking the route I did. I'll probably give an update in the near future on my overall setup for the Bigfoot 8 Dagger project. It's the small and simple changes that I have done that makes it work really well for me.
  23. I wonder how I could find the time to run all of my cars?🤔 I will need to review the spreadsheet that I keep all my cars on.
  24. I disagree. I think the blue fits better than the black. Also, that is a vintage Hotshot II in the photo and not a re-release.
  25. Some of my collection still uses AM and FM radios. These cars with out of date tech sit on the shelf most of the time though and almost all of my runners have a Futaba 2.4Ghz S-FHSS receiver. I use Futaba 2PL and 3PL transmitters, both have a 10 model memory and I'm starting to run out of room for more, so maybe a radio upgrade is in the future. I have more radios than what's in the picture. I need to go through them and sell off what I don't need, but one older radio I'm probably gonna use more is my 75Mhz FM Airtronics MX-3. Using some of the old AM and FM stuff saves me some money, but I do have to remember to take the batteries out when they are stored away, because now I have a few that need some cleaning from battery corrosion.
