    Hi Marc, welcome to the forum. The good thing about the Boomerang is that Tamiya has re-released it, so commonly broken parts can be replaced, although some things may be a little different.

    Tamiya CVAs are usually fine depending on the use case. Most of the popular RC cars come with plastic oil filled shocks and FYI, they work as intended. I agree with @TurnipJF, there are poor quality Aluminum shocks, they are cheap and alot of people would assume it's an upgrade when in reality it's a downgrade and a waste of money.

    Looks good! Good luck with racing. Also I've never had issues with e clips inside the shocks. Always double check and see if the e clip is fully in the groove.

    I just bought a 23x48 inch x 1mm sheet of G-10 or as we know it "FRP". I should be able to cover enough projects with that for awhile.

    I really don't know, I believe these 6° versions are discontinued so whatever you find will be old stock. However, there are various Chinese brands and vendors on ebay that might have C-hubs with positive caster. It's a bit more time consuming searching things up because TL01 only aftermarket parts may not show up as easy, but changing the search to some of the current Tamiya models like the WR-02, GF-01 and others that use compatible parts might yield better results. That's awesome, they definitely are durable, lol, I've taken flight a few times with my other TL-01 touring car back when it had a 57 Chevy Bel Air body shell. Sweet! I'd say go with a beetle, the round shape handles rollovers better in my experience, they get back on all fours easier. I will probably do a beetle body for mine since I already have a Parma Beetle body sitting for years waiting to be painted.

    I had a Helion Dominus short course truck that I bought for a discounted price due to some missing parts that I replaced. This thing was awful, slow, noisy and had a chassis that was too thin. Now of course looking at its layout would trick you into thinking it could be a competent basher, but the metal chassis would bend and twist and it seemed like the drivetrain had too much drag. After bending the chassis on the lightest of curb taps, I have had enough and wanted this piece of trash out of my life, so I bent the chassis back into shape and gave the car away. Waste of money and I definitely did not want it in my line of sight ever again.

    I'm more interested in running my cars than having shelf queens, but I do have a collection of shelf queens and most of them will remain that way. Even though I've been building runners lately, I have one more car waiting to be become a shelf queen after I restore it. Actually I have two of them, but the other one is for parts.

    I think the price sounds great, but there is definitely some streamlining needed for full production if you ever decide to take that route. Anyway, very cool.

    Like others have said, make a hole in the tire or just glue the rim in a few spots for easier removal.

    We have been having some really hot weather, so no running RC's for awhile. For now I'll just take care of some RC projects indoors.

    It's been awhile since I have built a TL-01, so I'm going off of memory lol. Anyway I have removed all the plastic bushings and replaced them with ball bearings. The easier it rolls the better, since I'll be starting off using the stock motor. The next upgrade I installed are 6° caster C-hubs by Square RC Sustain, which should keep this buggy stable at higher straight line speeds. Even though the c-hubs were listed for the GF-01, some of the factory parts had been borrowed from the TL-01 for multiple current Tamiya models, so there there is a good amount of cross compatibility with factory and aftermarket parts. Stay tuned, the steering links and electronics are next. Also maybe shocks too.

    The re-re's may not be vintage yet, but I do believe their appeal is more than nostalgia or newstalgia or whatever. During a time where most RC's seem to follow the same formula Tamiya keeps returning to a time when RC cars had character.

    I get bored sometimes too, and take long breaks, but I never 100% lose interest, it's just waiting for me sometimes. What has kept me going lately is trying to achieve my own visions and the experimental processes involved in trying to achieve certain goals. I've said in the past that I'm not a racer, even though I do have a little bit of interest, but most of the time when I have time for rc, I just want to build or modify stuff. I just like being in that leave me the heck alone zone sometimes when I'm building. Another thing that may also be helping my interest in RC is documenting my progress and failures on the forum. The TC forum has been great for ideas and advice and I love the cool things that the members have done, which I use as inspiration for my own projects. Then there is the enjoyment of helping others in the RC space, although not all the time depending on the circumstances, because some people are just impossible to deal with.

    I have some ideas brewing, I like the look of the Blitzer Beetle, but having 4WD would be nice, so I might put a beetle body on it. Maybe I'll call it the "Beetle Champ". Most of its use will be on road, and I already have a set of buggy wheels with Bandito tires, so should workout fine. The funny thing is, now I have spent more money in upgrades and accessories than it's worth just to build it my way, but having experience with the standard TL01 touring car, it should be fun.

    Bingo! There are some extra parts that don't belong to it, but it was a parts lot. Some goodies are on the way and the chassis is waiting for me to put ball bearings in. This is pretty much a new car, just with a few pieces missing and once finished it will not only be a fun buggy, but also a good test mule.

    I have been trying to shrink the collection a tiny bit to make some room, so last week I was glad getting rid of one of my cars to a new owner. That's fantastic! I just have maybe 3 or 4 more cars on the list that I don't want anymore. Well... I still have the same amount of cars is my collection... sort of. Yep! I bought another one, but it's something I really want to have fun with and maybe use as a test car. It's a platform I already have experience with and I should have everything in my inventory to complete since I bought it as an incomplete parts lot. I'll just throw up a pic of some of the parts for now and have all of yall guess what it is.

    The Blackfoot Xtreme is back together, I noticed that the dog bone shafts were twisted, but as long as the metal is not yielding and there is no vibrations, I'll keep running them. For the screw holes in the shock tower, I tapped threads for machine screws so that there will be no pressure from the screws expanding the plastic. I do have some plans for making the shock tower stronger, but that will be in the future.
