  1. I have the GTPO134 entry level system  for my R620  its ok...longer LED light wires (500mm) than the GTPO 164 which has 300mm.. but would like better electronics for less money... still contemplating the GTPO164 U.S version   at £169?...  definately not spending £300 on a Tamiya MFC 01!!!    havent made my mind up yet...  just like buying a different chinese meal from the usual... not sure!.. scared in case I have wasted my money!..

  2. yeah!  she was unbelievable mate.. anything annoyed her..  but the RC trucks were her nemesis!  all that revving and tooting etc.. but the best bit was when my mate turned up with his Scania 770   the real one!  you should have seen her... .. just about had a heart attack.   she's gone now (saying nothing) and my new neighbour is brilliant!

  3. Thank you to all for the advice  much appreciated!    The kit was at it tonight again!   I fiited small LEDS to the roof running lights to enhance the finished model, as I already did the front side mudguard repeaters earlier  no problems  until i went to fit the roof onto the main cab... and it suddenly just dropped out of my hand and smashed onto the open cab roof... luckily  there was no damage to either part!...  just one thing though   the nasty old dear next door who I was having bother with died last week...  she did not like me running my "noisy" trucks out the back garden .. a lot of  stupid stuff has happend since then   I did buy this latest truck  before she departed this world... could it be????

I've used sticky tape to remove sticky tape (or really any tape), using the adhesive of the tape to help pull off the residue left behind. Citrus based cleaners also work, as can eucalyptus oil

I tried that mate.. kept leaving residue... but thank you!

  5.  Hi Guys    for all those newbies out there   never ever use sellotape to mask off clear plastic used on model kit windscreens...says the 50 year old professional !  I accidently ran out of tamiya tape and foolishly used sellotape (at my age!)    to mask off the black surround on  the main plastic windscreen for my Tamiya MAN TGX XLX kit....     the air was BLUE  believe me!    it left residue on the screen and I had to try and rub it off slowly and gently with rubbing alcohol  it never worked and it left all sorts on the screen  so i resorted to the vinegar and washing up detergent  which left it all cloudy...  in the bin it went  .. i have had a run of bad luck with this kit    the mirror mouldings were the first Hurdle   In the end I had to apply super glue to the mouldings after assembling the wire holders and brackets with the supplied machine screws??  I had to pre screw the holes using a tiny self tapper.!!... the tamiya spray paint reacted with the tamiya glue???...  leaving the mouldings separated during drying time....  same with the rear mudguard slots the same machine screws were used and again the tiny self tapper came in handy to thread the holes...   it is a great looking truck Kit but expensive as so are the rest of Tamiyas RC trucks.. I built the scania R620 last month with the aftermarket topline roof and it went great with no hitches apart from the mudguard screws!... onward!....

  6. Hi Folks   anybody got any idea where i can get a set of these mirrors for the aforementioned truck    trying to get spares for this truck is a nightmare   I was thinking of fitting the Scania Lesu mirrors as a last resort (with the drilling template) as I am at the end of my tether with Tamiya  spares support....  I have looked everywhere online   thanks in advance.s-l1600.webp

  7. Hi Folks

Just to say  for those who have built the R620 with the aftermarket topline roof  i'm going to use thin magnets to secure the roof  (drill holes the the 620 cab and  level the magnets in the holes with araldite same for the topline cab) as opposed to gluing the roof to gain access to the wiring and receiver.  as tipping the cab does not give my huge hands enough room to work on the wiring should i have a problem in the future ..  I will publish photos of the  finished article  soon

I painted the windows black on the inside on my R620, because I put the battery in the cab to give a bit more ground clearance under the truck, and had to leave out the cab interior

I done this as well !.. after buying the £46  LED dashboard  which was surplus  and will be used in my next Scania..  the Lipo battery is inside the fake fuel tank in my Heavy hauler  equipment rack from a certain online shop !!..  and the side fuel tanks were stuck on the chassis frame rails with clear double sided tape..

This should have been mentioned. Paint the inside of the windows, it will look much better! If you are going the paint way.

I used The army painter black primer on the inside of the windows   It worked a treat!

Glad the idea worked for you :) It might be easier just getting a new set of windows, AM Hobby is a handy place for truck spares!

    Ant

I managed to  use the windows again as the cab is now full of wires which have been zip tied to tidy them up.   as for the front wires for the bumper lights have still to be installed  so heres hoping!   I am going to buy  the Scania 770s 6x4  soon so my plan for the sound unit will be on another level  (eg not in the cab)    I am going to ft a box on the back of the cab ( as  used in the heavy hauler type real trucks ) to house the sound umit and the wires will be  external using looms.

  11. I bought the GT power sound/light unit which is smaller than the Tamiya MFC01/03 for my Scania R620  but i positioned it flat on the receiver platform east to west instead of  north to south and the aftermarket LED dash (£45)  and seats would not fit !  so I sprayed the inside of the windscreen and side windows black to hide all the wiring etc, I have now seen the image on here that allows me to postion the unit so I can  have the dash and seats in. thank you Ant88!!!  i am now in the process of  removing the spray paint from the windscreen etc with brake fluid hopefully I can get the unit  positioned in this cab  but the wires are not long enough coming from the rear lights even at 500mm to get the cab up and over ... now more money to be spent on extension cables for the rear cables  as opposed to the front cables which are the opposite  too long!   I have already spent £££££'s on this truck  already!  perhaps I should go out and buy the real  R620 !!!

Beautiful! Mica Blue?? One of my favorite Tamiya paints. This truck.... I really, really, really, REALLY want this one!!! 😭 Sadly, won't happen. That brief moment (getting my inheritance) just happened to be early 2021), 5 vehicles I always wanted, and COULD'VE bought then.... we're sold out! USA, Canadia, Mexico, even the UK... couldn't find one. 😞  When I discovered that my rotten step kids had rifled through the rest of my money, THEN this Scania, the Hotshot and the Brat... my top 3 list, were available....

Sorry, don't mean to dump. It helps sometimes to write it out.

Back on point, the finish, details, the decals... brilliant! Love those mirror mounted antennas as well. Seeing your fantastic builds is fueling my stalled projects around here. I thank you for that. 🙏

Thats what stepkids do mate   they have no scruples!  keep them away from your hobby  I do!.
