    My BBX

It’s a beauty! Add me to the list of BBX-hankerers.
  2. It's the THW1060 (i.e. the one Tamiya package with their kits), so I assume it's real I did some testing this morning, with not much to conclude other than the ESC is bad (0 Ohms resistance between the positive and negative terminals of the power connector!) for reasons unknown. Motor checked out, as did receiver and servo. Finally plugged them all into a 1060 on another car and all worked as expected So perhaps a quality issue as suggested above. I'd guess no more than 10 packs of running time.\ Thanks all for the suggestions!
  3. I agree it seems weird. I am not drawing a causal link here, it’s just what I was doing when the smoke appeared. quite likely the cause is unrelated to the binding, maybe a short somewhere else. Will report back when I have more info.
  4. I did see and smell smoke, I’m afraid to say. Binding is over the air - Futaba 3pv to one of their 3 channel receivers (honestly I find it a bit finicky and a plug would be welcome!). Thanks for the ideas - in particular the separate power tests for Rx and motor. Hopefully I’ll have time to get into it this week.
  5. Hello, I fried my 1060 while trying to bind a new transmitter to the receiver in one of my TT02. I think the BEC is okay because the receiver power LED stayed on, but the ESC definitely smoked, so the motor side is done for. I’m looking for some advice to help me avoid immediately burning out the replacement ESC when I get it. Here’s the current plan: 1. Disconnect my RX from the ESC and servo (nothing else attached to it) and continuity test between power pins on the receiver to verify that nothing is shorted in the Rx. 2. If that checks out, hook the Rx and battery up to the new ESC. 3. bind transmitter to rx 4. Check nothing shorted across power pins of steering servo. Connect steering servo and test it 5. Connect the motor and test that. A couple of questions: any tips for how to check the motor for problems before I hook it up to the ESC? does my plan above seem sensible? if motor, Rx and servo all check out, any ideas what could have fried the ESC in the first place? Should I detach motor in future when binding a new Tx? thanks all!
  6. Broke out the masking sheet, hole punch and finally (4 months later) painted my dirtmaster. Except for the wing, which I forgot to do 🙄
  7. Where did you get the wrap? Looks great! Edit: just spotted the URL on the wrap - nice to see an example of their stuff.
  8. Great thread - thank you!
  9. I didn’t realize it’d be so much less than a regular hornet. Love the exuberance of the design. Just don’t really want a hornet 😞 I think I saw somewhere the sticker sheets - IIRC they’re a set of large panels with the dots printed on.
  10. Echoing @ThunderDragonCy - enjoy yourself! These reports are a fun read as-is 👍🏻
  11. Micro T (new version) has shorter wheelbase (102mm) than micro B (118), but likely still too long. Which is a great shame. A tiny RC grasshopper would be excellent!
  12. Nice build - may get some of these hop-ups for my dirt master. The fit and quality of the plastics is a step up from most of the Tamiya kits I’ve built around this price point.
  13. On reflection e-clipse sounds like a one-hit stadium rave act who emerged from a small market town in the Cotswolds around 1993.
  14. Pretty certain the e-clips enter an orbit between Earth and the Sun. When enough of them get out there, they’ll cause a solar e-clipse. (Somebody had to. Oh. They didn’t?)
  15. Unsolicited tip - for my dirtmaster build, I printed out the pages of the manual with the part sprues and then I put dabs of different colored paints on the various sprues with matching dabs on the print out. Helped keep the identity and orientation of the sprues as the build went on (at least for the DM there were no numbers on the sprues).
