  1. I think I heard them mention something like 1 million weight diff oil in the back, so I doubt it'll take long. All the F1 cars were running spools, yes. The track is generally in a more flowy high speed layout, which likely influences it.
  2. It's true! At my local crc black carpet track no one even runs diffs anymore, it's all spools for onroad!
  3. I really like practicing my driving and improving my lap times, but the scale element of this hobby is still the most important part for me. Driving scale models in scale conditions is what I enjoy most!
  4. I've got a mini z 962 on order, and I agree that it looks a bit odd. I get why it's like this though.
  5. I put an old AE b6 wing on my DT-03 for racing out on dirt. I just measured and drilled holes in the wing to match the wing mount and keep it centered. It keeps the buggy planted at all times. One race day it was a bit windy and I managed to pull a wheelie going down the front straight! I heard the dt-04 comes with a wing mount, but it might not.
  6. The turning radius of the C11 is nearly half a foot smaller than the BT-01! It's really nice, even with just bearings and softer front springs. I see now why GroupC classes have popped up in asia, the chassis are light and durable, come with a spec motor and good tires, and are nearly as cheap as a tt02. I just removed a shock spacer from the center, which should improve the off power steering, I think.
  7. I just took the C11 out with it's Group C pancar chassis. I have it setup with maximum ride height and really soft roll in the rear. I was surprised by how well it did! With all the pebbles swept away, it was able to drive very smoothly. Being far lighter than the BT-01, with a smaller battery, it was able to corner sharper and with more speed. I can't wait to try it later once the track has warmed up a bit.
  8. I've put the yellow springs on and a set of USGT wheels & tires. Grip is much better with these! I didn't time most of my laps, but by the second pack I was able to actually get nice flowing continuous laps, rather than the stop and go I was doing before. When I did start counting, I managed to do 3 more laps! I quite like my BT-01.
  9. So I tallied up all the screws I need, and I already have most of them, just need to get m3*15. This will be a machine screw build!
  10. In my experience racing a DT-03, I've only ever had understeer. I got some oversteer on loose gravel, but on the track the rear end stays locked down and the nose pulls the rest of the car around the hairpins. My Group C mid motor pan car handled similarly, but with less exaggeration. The FR BT-01 is very hard to drive as the line between understeer and oversteer is very narrow. Doing a burnout to warm up the rear tires does help reduce oversteer.
  11. I tapped screw threads and used machine screws all over my BT-01 because it's almost entirely brittle PC-ABS. Watching some reviews though, the CC-02 plastic seems quite flexible. How are the self tappers holding for those who've built and run one? Any recommended hop ups?
  12. I run my DT-03 on a dusty dirt track, and WD-40 Dry Lube works wonders on my cvds. They stay smooth with minimal wear.
  13. I've been running my BT-01 FR all day for RbP and playing with springs. Having the same spring rate front to rear is very important. I'll also definitely be reducing my rear toe-in before tomorrow's run.
  14. Definitely stick with portable jumps, and consider some astro turf for their surface.
