  1. Bought a Grasshopper II body for my Hornet Evo Chassis. When I did a test fit (The body arrived damaged, but getting a replacement), I found that it fits the rear body posts perfectly, but the front body post is just a tiny bit short. The way I look at it is I have two options: Option 1: Try to find a slightly longer front body post. Option 2: Just run it with the two rear body posts clipped. I am assuming Option 2 will work out just fine, since the Grasshopper II body is made of solid plastic instead of the Hornet Evo's polycarbonate body.
  2. I have kept using the two bearings on the front wheels.
  3. I follow the saying "It's better to have them and not need them rather than need them and not have them."
  4. I have. I bought a set of Traxxas rubber sealed bearings as spares.
  5. On the Hornet Evo, could you get away with only running one bearing on the front wheels instead of two as the instructions say? It would save on bearings in the long run, even if it is only two.
  6. I know I won't be going brushless on my Hornet Evo. Trying to keep it as original as I can.
  7. Is there any reason at all to use a 19T pinion gear with the Hornet Evo?
  8. They look good with a new coat of paint.
  9. I don't mind the white, especially since I am trying as much as possible to keep it to the original
  10. Based on the photo below, it looks like they take the cylindrcal adapters, which I already have on the rear axle, as I bought a set of star dish wheels. As a side note, the front wheels have two round openings for the bearings.
  11. I accidentally bought a set of Hornet one piece large diameter wheels. Since they were inexpensive (US$6), I kept them and ended up buying a set of rally block tires to keep as a spare set. With that being said, does anyone know which adapters to use with this particular wheel set on the rears of the hornet? Is it the hex or cylindrical adapter
  12. For my first upgrade, I am going with an upgrade to Tamiya's sport tuned motor for my hornet evo. Will the stock 17T pinion gear suffice? If not, what is the recommended pinion gear to use with this motor?
  13. Is it necessary to glue tires onto wheels with the hornet evo?
  14. I found out that the kit comes with the adapters for the wheels which I ordered.
  15. Thanks for the reply. Will go take a look on youtube.
  16. Are there any performance differences between the stock 540 can brushed motor that the Hornet EVO Kit comes with and the 540 sport tuned motor? I may want to do that as my first upgrade in the future or get it if/when I get my hotshot II as an upgrade.
  17. Thanks for the tips, but I am afraid this is still way over my head. I am still leaning towards not painting the driver, despite the fact that I purchased some thin tipped acrylic paint pens. The only thing I will be painting is the back of the headlights at this time. I may change my mind in the future & paint it, but at this moment, I have already made up my mind . As far as cutting out a piece of plastic for the visor, that would ruin my intention of keeping it as close as to the original as possible.
  18. Here is a photo of my finished Hornet Evo. My intention when I started building this kit was to keep it as close, if not exactly true, to the original Hornet as possible. I had the body painted & the decals put on by a hobby shop, as I am terrible at painting and putting decals on due to my tremors. I am just waiting on rear star dish wheel set so I can put on a set of dual block K tires on the rear. I am not sure if I am going to paint the driver figure or not, as I suffer from tremors & personally, I am not sure the driver figure will look good over all the electronics. I have enjoyed putting this kit together & the body turned out great and close to the original hornet. I am looking forward to my next kit, Hot Shot II (2024).
  19. Are the Rc Rally Block Tire Set good for on & off road use? I had purchased Rc Dual Block Tires K , but ended up buying the wrong wheels to use with them (I purchased RC Hornet 1 pc large diameter wheels). So instead of trying to get a refund or exchange from the hobby shop, I decided to keep them and get the rally tires (rears) put on and them keep them as spares.
  20. Does anyone know if you can use 1-Piece Large Diameter Wheels (Front & Rear) with RC Dual Block Tires K? I don't think you can, as it doesn't specify the wheels above for use with the Block Tires K in the instructions, but I am hoping you can, as I ordered the wheel I linked above.
  21. Better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it
  22. Didn't realize the parts marked in grey were not used. Thanks for pointing it out.
  23. This is from the hornet evo instructions. Looks like the B3 part has been replaced by the part marked E3 and a ball bearing.
  24. Is this an adapter so you can use 12mm wheels instead of tamiya wheels?
  25. Could someone please tell me what the part in the photo is? It came from Parts Tree B from the Hornet Evo kit, but it had no indication in the instructions on where it goes or what the part is used for.
