Thanks!! First time doing something like that so I took a lot of time over it. I will only be running this one in perfect conditions to try and keep it looking good too

Thanks for the all the help. I went for the HW 1060 with an LRP V10 17 turn motor. I kept the 25t pinion as it was within the ratios specified on the LRP site, and it runs lovely! Very smooth, quick and quiet too. I finally finished the paintwork and stickers too. Very happy

Mission accomplised I'd say!!

I remember seeing pictures of that motor, battery and speed controller but never saw them 'for real'! Very smart

No worries, I realised I was!

for this are you using Lipo with the TBLE-04S?

Fantastic stuff, thank you all for the quick replies! There are a few options for me to go and look into now, brilliant! I'm glad I stumbled across this forum

Yarters started following Super Astute motor/esc help!

Hi After owning a Terra Scorcher in the early 90's and then nothing since, the birth of my son 4 years ago prompted me to start searching Tamiya cars again. Filled with nostalgia I couldn't wait for him to be old enough for one and use him as an excuse so last year I decided to buy a Fire Dragon re-release as it was so similar to the Terra Scorcher. I've had so much fun building and smashing it round the garden. I quickly followed up with a lunchbox and then for Christmas bought a lovely Super Astute. I've only ever run stock silver cans but as the Super Astute didn't come with a motor, I did some reading up and decided to go with a Hobbywing QUICRUN Combo (QR10BL120 G2 and 3652SL 3250kV G2 Motor). After setting it all up on the Astute, I realised I couldn't get the body on as the ESC is way too tall... So I fitted the hobbywing combo in the Fire Dragon. That left me with a spare Tamiya TBLE-04S so I bought a Tamiya Sport Tuned motor for the Super Astute. This time the ESC fit but the motor shaft wasn't long enough to get the pinion to line up with the spur gear...So I fitted that in my Lunchbox which already had a Hobbywing 1060 ESC! My Fire Dragon is now absolutely hilariously fast (so glad I didn't for for the 4000kv motor), and to be honest for me so is the Lunchbox, (both running 2S lipo). I'm really happy with both of those and have fitted a few little mods to make them a bit more durable (and because I like tinkering with them). But my question is, what do I put in the Super Astute that will be a low enough ESC to fit under the body and a motor with a long enough shaft? My only thought on my very limited experience in RC cars is to get another Hobbywing 1060 ESC and a Tamiya Super Stock BZ as I think the shaft is long enough, and that should be quick enough for me. That will set me back nearly £80 so about the same as the hobbywing brushless combo. I'm sure I'd be happy with that but wanted to ask for some advice first. Any thoughts would be great, thanks for reading!
