Tamiya's Re-re Army in Tokyo Hobby Show
topforcein replied to Yangtao's topic in Re-Release Discussions
know thats a nice sight. i already have original top force and manta ray. but i WILL STILL BE BUYING THE RE-RELEASES. okay i just phoned up the hobby company and asked the sales if they had any info on theses 2 models and all i got was i have never herd of them 2 models. i said to her how can you work for tamiya and never herd of the manta ray and top-force. i just can not beleive that. then she got stroppy with me and put the phone down. these people dont deserve to work at the hobby company if they dont know there job properly and there products. so i phoned back and asked someone else if she had and chrome or gold wheels that will fit the lunch box and she said do you have part numbers i said no as i am at work. so i said could you please try as you would have more luck than me. but she came back 5 secs later and said no. i dont think she even botherd looking. THE HOBBY COMPANY IS AS ABOUT AS uSEFULL AS A CHOCOLATE FIREGAURD.[!][!][!][!][!] A COMPLETE WASTE OF SPACE. ITS NO WONDER WE BUY FROM THE uSA OR JAPAN IF THIS IS HOW WE GET TREATED. -

i found my original shell out not long back and its in good condition. apart from i want to repaint it. so apart from the labourius task of scraping the shell i want a different way of taking the paint of. i have heard that nitro fuel does this. do i have to soak the shell and if so for how long. will the fuel damage the shell in any way if it is left long soaking. also is there any other ways i could try.

is the monster beetle being re-released
topforcein replied to RC_reece's topic in Re-Release Discussions
i would prefere the blitzer beetle to be re-released thb -
i'd prob say no as i thought the mad bull wheels would fit the lunch box but only the front will fit. does any one know where i could get hop-up wheels for my lunch box.
-
she is looking very nice very nice indeed where did you get them roof bars from. i am looking for some spot lights to go on my lunch box
-
ar it finally turned up then. it looks ready for the restoration.

yeh buts thats not fair on some of us normal mambers. i can afford your member ship fee and tbh dont see the point in it. but i am at the moment am buying up many re-releases and would like a say in something like this but as i am not a subcribed member it could be classed as discrimination to us none subcribers. sorry to rant on but thats my 10 pence worth.

the lunch box is finished know it took a while but i got there and she know looks fantastic. and i like the colour on your manta-ray it looks great nice job you've done. when i had mine 11 years back i painted mine the same colour but a darker shade. i will have to find some photos out tonight to have a look. your ray was'nt that dirty when you brought it. when i got mine back home i could'nt beelive the amount of dirt and grease all over it. it took me about 4 nights to clean it all off.
-
i know want a blitzer beetle re-release instead of the monster beetle
-
i dont know why you used primer in the first place. when i painted my lunch box last week i did it as on the box with the tamiya ts-16 yellow. and i just painted that straight onto the shell but i did have to wet flat it a few times due to fish eyes and runs and dust in the the paint but in the end it turned out perfect and the stickers went on beautifully also. so i am know waiting for a price for a new shell and chrome and window parts from my lhs so i can do something really special on it as it will be my show shell.

i found the problem with the front shocks. in when assembled the front tyres toe in quite badly. so what i have done is put truck and get the wheels/tyres sitting sraight/level on the ground and messured how much of the shock shaft is sticking out of the top of the chassis/front shock mount and cut some of the rubber tube that is used on the shocks and dissasemble the front shocks and put the rubber tubbing up to the top of the shaft and reasemble the shocks and hey presto the wheels/tyres sit level on the ground. now the tyres will wear evenlly.

Tamiya Vintages becoming brittle
topforcein replied to Shermanator2's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
lunch box is coming out of loft tonight to live in the bedroom cubard from now on. -
my brother painted his bashboard once with the custom colours breen to blue prismatic and it turned out the same as when you paint a lexan shell so if it worked on his bashboard it will work on the hard shell rc shell.he even tryed it on 15"subs and it never came off even the whellie he gave them.

" Proper Collector " What does that mean to you??
topforcein replied to RETRO R/C's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
in my eyes a PROPPER tamiya collector will buy every kit that has been and will be released. full stop end of story. now that is what a propper collector is -

It would be nice to see yours finished and all. id="quote">id="quote">i have tryed posting pics on here before but it would'nt let me but she does look real nice. it was well worth the wait. theshopkeeper Posted - 24 Aug 2005 : 20:28:57 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by topforcein i am think of the purple to green tamiya paint. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Won't work, only works with lexan if you're looking at it through the plastic and paint it with black from behind. On a styrene shell it'd just come out a mess I'm afraid. sorry but it will work as i have tryed it before just spray the black on first. then spray the prismatic on top of that.
