how much you looking to pay for one or what you got to trade
-
no tbh i have put in i the loft as i have found the one i used from 11 years back on my original manta ray so i am useing that at the moment send us a picture of it. but i am pinting my lunch box at the moment and cant wait for it to be finished. i should be applying the decals tonight.
-
finally painted her last night. and after 4 times of having to rub the shell down with glass paper to get it right. i got it the way i wanted. so will apply the decals tonight. and have a go at the steering as its not right. i have done all what it says in the manual but i have to ajust the steering all the way to the left on the transmitter so i will hopoefull sort it out tonight.and why is it the front wheels seem to stick in (not sit level on the tyre's).but i am gonna order a spare shell and do a different paint job on that. i am think of the purple to green tamiya paint. with some ghost flames and something on the both panels.

quote:Originally posted by Shermanator2For me re-issues are not a bad thing. As discussed before I am all for re-releases as it gives me the opportunity to own a r/car that I wanted back in the days my parents couldnt afford it. In this day in age where kids a motivated by computer games, PS2's, Xbox's and mobile phones, it is about time we see some decent toys on the market that makes kids and adults alike use their heads. The joy of constructing models and r/c kits of the bygone area was really appealing to me back then and as a father I like to pass this onto my own kid. I have said it before- but to me most collectors collect for major monetory value in the hope one day to pass it off to a poor ****** for an absurd price, thats why you see these collectors getting all hyped up when a re-release comes along. I collect because I like the r/cars and I don't collect for the sake of collecting to rip someone off at later date. If you a a true blue collector then it shouldn't worry you as most re-releases that come along are usually with ESC's and ever so slighlty modified for the newer market. ultimatly it is your decision if you buy a re-release or not. I would never discourage Tamiya from not re-releasing these kits for a later generation of children or individuals to enjoy. Its humourous to see this topic spring back to life time and again when a hint of a re-release comes to knowledge and when it is actually released. Bring on the Re-releases!![] id="quote">id="quote">i could'nt agree more with you [^][^][^][^][^]

Avante 2001 How much will one cost me???
topforcein replied to martyboy's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
try e-bay i have seen them on there for sale but i never looked at the prices -
yet but i have noticed that most of the plastic parts are date stamped 1987 on my re released lunchboxs. go figure that out
-
so do you tamiya will re release the monster bettle . as i will buy on of them to use
-
i think it is one of tamiya's best ideas to re release some of the classic kits. i can once again baske in the fun and pleasure of playing with a old scool classic and not worry about breaking something and never being able to get parts for them unless i want to pay extorsinant prices which i dont want to and cant afford. i used to collect kits then when i got out of the hobby for a while i sold every thing. then about 6 years ago i got back into it and i know have a original top force and hornet witch i got for nothing off a friend. not long ago got my hands on a manta ray. and last week i got the one i have been after for at least 8 years and that is the lunch box, now every time i found one of these baby's i always just missed it as i am sure this is the case with a lot of others also so i brought 2 to make sure i have one to use and one to keep. i hope tamiya will carry on re release'ing all the old scool classics as i will buy the ones i am after. i will be waiting for the monster beatle next. i also have a few other rc's but they are not tamiya. now going back to tamiya re releasing kits and the original prices going down well this can and will happen but you can not substatute the old for the new at least this way many collectors can restore all there old scool rc's cheaper than before.

great did yours come from your lhs. know my next question is,, is there any where out there that sells chrome parts for it or the four spot lights that can go on the top of the van. as i remember a member who did up his midnight pumpkin and managed to get a chrome chassis and so on for it.and also different wheels for it also
-
that sounds like the same guy where i got mine from. and if it is his delivery times are fantastic.i got mine 2 days after payment
-
i have thought of this but i dont know if it will weaken the chassis. ps how much did you pay for the shell and where from

okay so i gat a call first thing saturday morning from my lhs telling my my lunch box's have arrived. boy i can not tell you how long i have waited for this. so i get down there as fast as i can to releive them of them and make my way home with my fav rc.[][8D][]. i still cant beleive i have them at long last and keep going up stairs into my bedroom and taking one of them out the box and just staring at it. i have noticed that the plastic parts are date stamped 1987 weird that but hey i dont care about that cause i finally have them in my possestion(sp).just gotta wait until next week before i can start to build one as i need to get the ball race, radio gear, paint and so on. its killing me not to build it as i want to go play and get it wheelie'ng [][]. i just dont know weather to paint it yellow or some nice colour with flames down the side.
-
no i hav'nt tbh as i have been buisy building my rc drift silvia s15. plus my lunchbox's turned up at my lhs on saturday and i will be putting my time into them. but the only thing i noticed last night when going through the manual was that it says to have zero angle on the front. now i have not checked this yet but i will soon. i also managed to get a new manta ray body nib so i also have to paint that when i get the chance.man i have some fun nights ahead of me.
-
been there and done that as that is always the first thing i try.
-
no its off just a bit
-
it won't let me change the size to medium. and all the steering assembly that i put on was of my old manta ray that was only used for a while cause i changed it all to c/f and brought all new stuff when i did. so it aint bent or anything else and it is all tamiya stuff that is on it and is in vgc. mind i dont have the propper servo saver on it that is shows in the manual its only a single one and not the one that comes in either 2 or 3 parts that have to be assembled that is showed in the manual.
-
could you explain on what you meen lever please and sorry but the pic of the manual is to small but i have the manual at home and check it out tonight
-
sorry i cant take photos as i dont have a pc at home and as for the tie rods i dont think they are bent cause i took them form off my original ray and i put it on this one.it looks likeit catchs on the left side of the inside of the bath tub chassis if that makes any sense.
-
okay i had one of these 13 years back. but sold it 2 years later for upgrade. but a couple of weeks back i brought another one from of evoman. not in the best of condition but one week later she is up and running again. but i cant remember if it had this steering problem i have on this. i have noticed its ok when turning to the left but when i turn to the right it dont go all the way it seems to catch the chassis. now is there any way to correct this or am i stuck with it.
