Darn....And i have one on work and all
-
I have GT Legends also by SimBin, It's a great game to play especially with a steering wheel and pedals. I did find that some of the realism in the game may have been a bit exagerated handling wise in some of the cars, But i suppose i cant recall the last time i took a real GT40 out for a spin[] What are the graphics like in GTR?

The Tamiyaclub Community Model - A Very Special Racing Buggy.
Madmat replied to netsmithUK's topic in Tamiyaclub News
I kinda figured you would have, Had to say it just in case though! Even if it were just a small sponsor style sticker of the club name or logo on one of the windows just to have the name somewhere on it, I can understand what you are saying though about it being too "out there" I Personally would hate to see this go to just one person and get locked away in their house never to see the light of day. Tamiya HQ is the perfect place i feel as the VSRB is there for everyone to see and all the hardwork put into it not get put to waste.....Just my two cents! -
Do you have any pics of the gearbox in its current state??? IMO Dont bother with polishing cast parts unless you are really serious about spending the time doing it properly, I find that it doesn't look that great either in the end, But that's just me! I find one of the best thing for cleaning parts especially odd shaped ones is Blu-Tack or White-Tack. just get a lump of the stuff and press it onto the part and most of the dirt sticks to it plus it can get into the little nooks and crannies! I find White-Tack is a bit softer so it's easier to squash into those hard to reach places!! as for the sealant, I've never really had much luck in removing it so i think it best not to give advice there!

I'd hope that's only a joke.....At the end of the day it's only a model car and nothing that cant be replacd!!!

Wow, That is stunning. It is definately something the contributors should be proud of. Is it completely ready to go after that or are there still some parts to go on?. I think willychang is right about how the body should represent the club, As to what design though, you could have a small competition for best design maybe, The prize being the person getting the honour of the design going onto the shell? You should see if club member 'moosey' would paint it. From what i've seen of his cars the are very well painted plus it looks like he can do white wall lettering aswell!!! Just a suggestion Oh one last thing, But this scorcher should be perfect, I hate to nitpick but the rear left tyre is mounted backwards! -

I was gettin that kind of a feeling aswell, Well as they say great minds think alike[H] -
When i first got interested in Tamiyas there were only two models (fortunately) i ever wanted on my sub-concious list, These were a bruiser or mounty and a scorcher. Well after a long time waiting I got both last year. Got a Mounty in a trade for my TXT-1 and a scorcher in a trade for my Hilux! These two models will never leave my possesion...(If any one ever sees me put them in the trade room slap me). I have never really wanted loads of models but i wouldn't mind having the complete SRB series NIB.....

[] I love it......I think i will use these on my boss the next time i'm in work!!
-
That's how i used to design aswell! I could spend hours on end just drawing stuff! I like to plan out projects though by just doing rough sketches then draw all the parts with measurements and then draw them in autocad! If you want some inspiration have a look at Thorbobs website, The ultimate custom project builder i can think of www.thorbob.com. Thor gave me more inspiration than i knew what to do with!

You should talk to Kamtec-keef (I think that is his username) from kamtec. They make lexan repro shells. He could probably let you know whats involved and if it is possible! Oh by the way, That design looks amazing...Excellent job there. May i ask how you made that model in the first place? Was it injection molded?
-
No problem....It's my job

Oh i love the sleek lines of your cardboard Bb

The main difference between the two is that Nitro models run using nitromethanol engines where as electric models are powered by an electric motor Have a look at this link it will explain to you some of the differences http://www.kyosho.com/eng/support/rcguide/index.html Although the price for nitro models seems higher than that of the electric models you still have to take into account the price of the running gear that has to be bought seperately from the model...With electric cars this would be battery packs and chargers whereas with nitro cars it would be fuel and other field equipment. When you look at the prices then from that point of view they can come very close to each other...although this does depend on what model you are buying and from where you are buying it. Straight out of the box Nitro models usually have a higher top speed compared to electric models, Basic nitro cars can run upto 30 - 40 MPH although with some up grades electric cars can easily made to travel at higher speeds. Nitro models do take a but more patience and skill to get running initially but with experience it becomes easier......although saying that, the same can apply to more advanced electric models The best thing for you to do is to go to your local hobby shop (LHS) and have a talk with the people in there, as they can best advice as to what to get in relation to what they sell, It is better to get a model from somewhere local to you because when you need help with your model or need to get some spare parts they will more then likely always be able to give you some help and will have a certain stock of spare parts for the models they sell. Also the people in your LHS will more readily give advice and help to a customer of there own than someone who has bought a model from a mail order website and has come to them with problems they are having with it! Model shops are always greatful for customer loyalty. I know there is a bit more there than you actually asked about but it will all hopefully make getting into the hobby easier for you Matt
