You guys really need to stop showing me these great deals you are getting on Yahoo Auctions and Buyee. I am afflicted with a very low level of self control and this is just forcing me to go and look at what I really don't need to buy but yet must have!!! ;)

Yeah, I think it is better for both me and you if you don't start browsing Yahoo Auctions

  2. This arrived on Friday morning about half an hour before I had to head off for the weekend to visit the girlfriends family.... Pure torture

This was a bit of shot in the dark on Yahoo Auctions, so I wasn't totally clear on the contents.

Inside, a jumble of treasure, including a Sand Scorcher

And below that a Porsche 935 Chassis, among other things

  3. I don't have a hug backlog, but a long over due list of to do's:

    • Sort out the gearbox on my girlfriends Wild One
    • Paint and Assemble the body set for my Mountaineer (~9 Years overdue)
    • Fit electronics to said Mountaineer (~18 years overdue )
    • Finish component designs for I-Beam Ford Ranger project (Though this will probably move to the bottom of the list after seeing Proline's release yesterday)

Two un-planned for additional projects incoming from Japan soon, 1x 580016 Sand Scorcher (will get a runner restoration) and 1x 58002 935 (for a clean up).

And finally, some of the remnants of my old collection need to be culled to make way for the incoming ones.

  4. Hi All,

This may have been shared already in the past so let me know if it has been, but I stumbled across this the other day and thought it was worth a share just in case.

Anyway, I discovered that all of the issues of RC Car Action from 1986 to 2005 have been uploaded and freely available to view on Internet Archive (aka Wayback Machine). I've spent a lot of time already reading through a bunch of the old Tamiya "new release" reviews from the 80's and 90's.

I've put a link below..... Or you can go to Internet Archive and search "Air Age Media" and you'll come across all of the issues.

    https://archive.org/search?query=creator%3A"Air+Age+Media"&and[]=collection%3A"radiocontrolcaraction"

  5. I think you hit the nail on the head with looking at it unpainted, though I don have another clear T-Maxx body shell that I could paint up. I think if I do run it, it becomes like every other old T-Maxx. My experience of nitro models is, after that first use, it will never be as clean again 😅.

I sold off most of my shelfers over the past few years and don't have a display shelf wide enough for this so unfortunately it spends it's time in storage which is even worse again.

I am very tempted to sell it and buy a cheap used maxx second hand as there are plenty out there, same experience and no stress using it.

  6. So last year I picked up what I consider call an almost new in box Traxxas T-Maxx. This is not what I would call just any old T-Maxx, but an initial 1999 release version i.e. the bodyshell came unpainted, the box used pictures of the prototype truck.

The truck is almost brand new in condition, though the original owner did say he put two tanks of fuel into the engine for break-in, but never drove it after.

So here is my current predicament, do I run it or do I keep it almost unused? Like said, the truck is in amazing condition, and spent most of the last 24 years in the box, so I can't imagine there are many of the originals in such good condition, but equally it is not totally unused.

It seems a shame to keep it stuck away in the box..... Perhaps I should sell it? Help me folks

  7. Nice. I picked up an almost new first release T-Maxx last year as a birthday present to myself. Still haven't decided what to do with it as it is unpainted, undriven, and almost new. It had one tank of fuel run through it in and then packed back up. Never got through break in. Seems like too much of a survivor to drive.

Rebuilt my Nitro Rustler over winter... A lot has changed since it was last driven. 2.2" tyres aren't even a thing anymore.

  9. So after the car I have wanted to buy for the past god knows how many years has come up for sale, I have decided to make the hard decision of selling my Vintage Tamiya Mountaineer. I have had this Mountaineer for over 10 years now, but have never done anything with it other than buy all the re-re parts required to put a shell on it, but they haven't even moved since they were bough 5 years ago

The model itself is good condition and has probably only been used a few times in it's life, one of those being me testing it in the living room to see that all works as it should. (Which it does). The battery tray does have some visible scratching which is a let down.

Overall the model could use a clean to get all the dust off properly and some of the dirt from handling over the years.

I will not sell the re-re parts separate from the chassis. No Radio gear or servos are included.

I will ship anywhere in the World at sellers cost

Price is €450 excluding Postage, Payment by PayPal

Please excuse the poor quality of the images, my SLR is acting up at the moment so I have to use my phone. The pictures below give a general idea of the condition of the chassis and shell parts included. If anyone wants more detailed images, just ask.

  10. The first question that really matters is, how good are you at 3D modelling? Do you have any experience with it? I would not see there being a real point in getting a 3D printer until you have some 3D CAD time under your belt, otherwise it will very quickly turn into a large paperweight and dust catcher.
