  1. Hi All,

Okay so I have decided to sell up most of the more notable models that I have collected. I have a genuine reason for selling and will explain why further along in this post. If anyone has doubts about me as a seller/buyer, I'm sure anyone that has dealt with me in the past knows that I am a genuine seller. Now for the reason I am selling a lot of my collection. As some may know already, I was diagnosed with Epilepsy a number of years back. Now I'm pretty good with brushing these sort of things off and getting on with life but recently things haven't been getting any better and in fact I see it as getting worse as my memory has been getting bad/forgetful (I have a diary now to write down everything if I want any hope of remembering to do it), terrible lack of concentration now, my speech has gotten muddle and it is getting hard to form sentences correctly or remember the right words to use (I've been typing this post for the last 4 - 5 hours :S). The real concerns though are these, on the last number of visits to the neurologist, I have been told that I need to take having Epilepsy more seriously and that I could die during a seizure or sustain severe brain damage (Seizures generally involve me being unconcious and not breathing for up to 7 minutes. Typically, the same amount of energy is used in 5 minutes as would be used by a person running a 26 mile marathon). My neurologist is quite concerned due to the high number of seizures I have had over the last 4 and a half years. Due to the importance that my neurologist has placed on me understanding that I could die and the fact that I have formed a tremor/shake/jerk in my hands I am choosing to sell these. I just am not able to complete these models with any justice now (I do regret not finishing them years ago, but I never planned on the diagnosis :/) There are a number of things that I have always wanted to do and since I am only 24, I would like to do them sooner rather than later, just in case the worst dose happen (Think bucket list :( ) In case anyone thinks that I may be lying just to try sell parts quicker, I will take pictures of my Epilepsy medication, prescriptions, and other related items beside the Tamiya models that I am selling.

I will also listen to offers on the whole lot

Update: Just a small update here for anyone interested in the items or my health for that matter. The items are still for sale, just let me know if you are interested. Health is a bit better, I've changed medications a couple times since I first put the ad up and am overall taking less pills in a day. Still the odd side effect but these things happen.

I feel all the prices are fair and I will accept offers on them, but also remember if I get the full asking price I will be as generous as possible as I have no use for these things 6 feet under.

I will ship to anywhere in the world and am willing to place whatever value is desired onto the box/shipping details.

I will add more parts, details and pictures as I get through it all.

If you have any questions or picture requests, You can contact me by my email PM or leave a comment below

    Thanks for reading

  2. So I've had my Mounty for probably 6 years now and in that time I've never gotten it a shell as I just can't paint hard bodies to save my life :D . So what I'm after is a Toyota Hilux Shell painted and finished. It can be from any era as long as it's a Hilux and well finished. I'm not looking for a box perfect paint scheme or scale perfection, so I'll consider anything as long as it's complete and well painted.

Contact me by PM or mattpym@hotmail.com

    Cheers

    Matt

  3. Thanks for your input guys. I think the amount of work required for the shell depends on the level of finish and detail you want. For me, I want a high quality finish. I have decided to keep it, a combination of the inputs here and after watching a documentary on BBC4 about GroupB Rally cars basically made my mind up for me. My next job is to get the paints for the body and interior, as TamiyaSpray isn't available in Ireland, I'm going to have to buy myself a new airbrush and all the necessary colours (there are quite a few). I just hope I can make a good job of the body. I haven't spray a hardshell before and I'd hate to have it turn out looking ****. nervous stuff haha.

@Kymbo - Prepainted shells by Tamiya would be good, but something tells me that they would cost a fortune. Just have a look at the price of an XB Sand Scorcher :)

  4. As per the title, I've been thinking about selling my Lancia 037 re-re but am really wondering would it be worth selling it. The way it sits currently is as an unfinished new build shelf queen (new term right there I think haha). The shell was primed but nothing else was done to it since then (then being about 5 years ago ;) ). Does anyone know if it would actually be worth selling it or should I keep it and try to finish it eventually? I am not sure of the value of these at the moment, but I can only assume that it probably isn't that great considering the TA-03 chassis was fairly widely employed in it's time on countless different models, the only unique part being the shell itself. The thing that brought me onto the idea of selling is having the money available for projects or other similar things so I am not pressed to sell, but I don't like seeing it sat there as it is and I know someone could make an excellent job of finishing it.

Also does anyone have an idea what current market value is like for these?

So I put it to you, the knowledgeable members of TC for your opinions.

    Thanks

    Matt

  5. So I came across these two bits in a box of random parts I have. I got them with an XR311 project I bought a long time ago. I'm definite that they aren't XR parts. I'm not really certain what they are from though! They each have a letter stamped on them, on has "B" and the other has "C" so I'm doing the obvious and assuming that they are left and right parts. I thought maybe they are from a Tamiya model in the same era as the Original XR311. I did have look at a few of the early cars Tamiya produced and these parts look almost like they belong on the sides of an F1 car rear wing, but from what I did look at, I couldn't see anything like these.

So I put it to you people. Does anyone recognise these. Excuse the poor picture, but you get the idea.

    Cheers Matt

  6. I was literally out of control, the car went wherever it wanted, I would clip some leaves and the car was dragged into more and disappearing in a mist of leaves and sticks, it was extremely twitchy.

Not a good start so. I'm guessing that it's fast, maybe a little too fast for the area it had haha. To me it sounds like it needs a bit of suspension set-up to be done on it? Caster and Toe settings perhaps.

  7. My Bruiser from Stella arrived in the UK last night, tracking shows it is still awaiting customs clearance  . I was always thinking it would get caught, not because of the declaration, but because it is in an official Tamiya box with the model number sticker on the side (unless Stella removed it which would have been nice).

I would say the size and weight of the box would be the first worry and then the markings on the outside if customs wanted to start searching for value (especially when they see the manufacturers RRP ). I think we need to get an inside person at customs haha.

  8. So tempted to buy, It's like a dream this to me, everything seems perfectly set up, There is the chance to buy a Bruiser kit (re-re or not, I don't care) and I have the funds to actually buy (albeit out of my savings to move country haha). Only two things are putting me off buying at the moment really. 1) I've three other models that need finishing which the money could go to (Scorcher, 037, and Mountaineer) and 2) If caught for duty and vat (which it probably would with the state this country is in at the moment), the total price will go from €600 to €760 :o which to me is just a little too high for my liking. Hmmmmm decisions, decisions

  9. if he posts up later that he dosn't mind i'll post out the spur and pinion to you... (i'm guessing thats the 2 gears??? lol.. can you tell i'm a newbie at this??)

Any chance of a scan of the body set intructions? Unless the first taker would be willing to part with?....sort of trying to put together my SS shell and make sense of the jumble of screws and bits that came with it

  10. * Place jaw thin super kids land main office

    B) Sounds like there only letting in strange kids LOL

at least the high lift chassis is not what its intended for, as it looks totally stupid on the F-350

I'm with beetle on this one......It looks absolutely terrible on that chassis!!!!

Most excellent news though now i can finally get a bodyshell for my mounty and whats more it'll be brand new...Wooooohooooo...I think i'll get two actually
