  1. Sorry Mooter, I had to put that in Forum Quotes of the Week :-) Paul.
  2. Sorry Mooter, you are a mate, but I had to do it to you.... Paul.
  3. The two big killers are sunlight (for boxes and plastic on display) and changes in temperature. If your kits go from low to high temperatures, especially if in an uninsulated attic without other means of keeping the temperature constant, this will lead to fatigue in the parts. I have a custom room, which I designed into my house in Czech, it is about 550 square feet in size and has only North facing windows, both of which are totally sealed from everything, including light with special blackout electric blinds when I am not there. The room has climate control and is insulated against the elements, as well as being fireproofed. It is in the attic space, but it wouldn't be called an attic in most people.s mind if they saw it. Temperature is kept at 22 Celsius all year round and humidity at normal levels. All kits are stored flat, maximum two high for valuable rare ones on metal shelving units from Schulte. I hate poly beads, so I don't use them, but since my kits aren't moved around at all, that doesn't matter to me. I also protect against wasps, as wasps and hornets chew up paper to make their nests. Paul. (Obviosuly water and fire are bad things as well, but most people are protecting against these in their house anyway!)
  4. H., why not open up the actual voting system, you can do that in the forum Paul.
  5. I could get you into a Dynatech easily, either 01R or 02H, but they will be more expensive than £24 shipped. Personally I think you should get one of those Dynatechs (not necessarily from me) as they are very quick and age appropriate for the Egress You don't have to buy new though. Paul.
  6. Seeing as you are putting so much effort into originality, I suggest original colours (also known as box art) have a look at the 101's website, as they have some very nice pictures of the Egress there, as well as boxart shots. You can also find some box pictures on Tamiya Club Have you sorted the motor yet? Paul.
  7. This thread is old enough to drink. Me also, so I am off for a cold one after listening to some of these stories. Paul.
  8. Plus you get to deal with lovely people like Mark (I was away, then ill, but opened my package today! I feel 8 again!) Paul.
  9. People seem to fall into two camps with the TT-01, they love it or hate it. Some say it is a great way to get into the hobby and race cheaply, others say that in order to race one you need to upgrade most of the parts, so you may as well have started with something else altogether. There are loads of great knowledgeable touring car guys here who can advise you on which of those to go for better than me, but for my part you can guess what I think of the TT-01 chasss, as I use them for displaying my few touring car bodies and that is about it. Belt drives are considered better by general consensus, although I have enjoyed running TB series chassis myself, which are shaft driven. Paul.
  10. I hear good things about Kamtecs products, although I have seen a couple of complaints about service here on TC, although I haven't had any dealings myself. They have been around a while, so I would be surprised if there were constant problems though. Go for it :-) I have genuine decals if you need them. Keep well, Paul.
  11. I can give you a little inside informationhere, which is that I know for a fact that Team Bluegroove will be doing a nice repro body shell soon on the Egress, I know this because I sent it Jon today and he will have it soon. An original shell will be very expensive (very expensive) my advice is wait for the repro for both, the expense is huge. I recently sold an Egress bodyset for over £400. Contact me if you need any parts, decals etc. P.
  12. Hey, isn't it possible to have a showroom without paying, but just being a registered member? I thought it was, at least I am sure it was when I joined. The benefits of traderoom and disounts etc don't apply, but you can list your cars, or am I wrong? P.
  13. I am not talking to you, you still owe me the difference! P.
  14. I cannot be held responsible for any consequences of listening to my advice :-) Where do those parts go? Do you have kids? P.
  15. Sean is right, sometimes it is easy to get carried away and buy thinking there won't be another one (look who is saying this, mr compulsive purchase) but he is dead right about finding the parts you need in different places. Plus personally, like with the wheels, I would be looking to get used parts. Just my opinion, but it is more satisfying to build a restoration from old parts than new ones. I have been putting Monster Beetle parts in a box for a year or two now and now I have a complete Monster Beetle (just parts left over from restorations, duplicates etc) the only thing I had to buy were the shocks which cost me £9 used. Paul.
  16. I thought you could buy a Dynatech 02H motor with the plate included and get a twofer. P.
  17. The plate you are referring to is also sold with Dynatech 02H motors. Paul.
  18. ******, I said it too late... Paul.
  19. Are you wishing you had never subscribed here, or that I had never convinced you to restore this car? Paul.
  20. I agree that it is a lovely car, although I ran a Boomerang with many Supershot improvements and a Technigold motor myself. It is extremely difficult to say whether kits will be re issued, as a few of us (myself included) were so sure that the SRBs weren't possible for many reasons (technical, cost, licence and more - to an extent some of our reasons were right, they did need licencing, as evidenced by the box, technically they didn't actually reproduce the metal parts or body in the case of the Scorcher exactly and cost reduction has compromised quality) but now that cat is out of the bag many things are game. The Supershot, as well as cars like the Avante, came with motors that aren't manufactured today and probably will be difficult to reproduce, as these things are more out of Tamiya's hands (Mabuchi make the motors) so I think they are unlikely, however, people point at the coffee lid cars and say the Avante will be issued because of the coffee lids (but there wasn't a Scorcher coffee lid car, so perhaps the prescience is just coincidence, as I think personally) I have decided never to say never, but I think Supershot is unlikely. Paul.
  21. I suspect the most likely suspects for this are very low production runs, like the 414X, the Richard Burns Subaru, and the Skoda Fabia (hey what, there is a Tamiya Skoda?) etc. Not necessarily very desirable though, rareity doesn't necessarily mean value, but I still like to have them in my collection. I think the Black Porsche boxed and complete (lots of bags missing) is very rare. Paul.
  22. Strange, I would have thought you use a silencer. Paul.
