Wow! Thanks for the swift reply Twinset! That's exactly the color I meant! Except: I will be painting an ABS shell, sorry I forgot to mention.... Would the PS stick on the ABS shell or should I look for an alternative? Rick

Hi all! Does anyone know the spraycolor I would need to resemble the lightblue Gulf sponsered cars from yesteryear like Le Mans? Any help is much appreciated! Rick

Torhaantje replied to Torhaantje's topic in Big Rigs and Scale Armour
No one out there who can tell? Rick -
Hi all, Can someone tell me the measurements of for instance the King Hauler leafsprings: i.e.: the lenght from eye to eye, compared to the hilux leafsprings. Thanks in advance! Rick

Thanks guys for your replies! I already used Timya's grey primer, but dont't know if it is compatible with the high build primer some of you mentioned, does anyone know? I will try the different methods you described. @ Schaumat: what a great restauration you did on the body! Cheers, Rick

softer, scale suspension for Blazing Blazer
Torhaantje replied to Torhaantje's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Hi Dan, Thanks for your reply and possible solution. So there isn't a direct replacement available, unless you add some modifications? Are the leafsprings of the 1/14 trucks an option? Do you what lenght they are? Regards, Rick -
Hi all! Are there modern leafsprings that can replace the old stiff BB/Hilux ones without raising the rideheight? I have tried the modern High-lift ones, but they raise the body too much. Cheers, Rick

Hi all, I am currently restoring a Blazing Blazer body. Is there a method or product to fillout those tiny marks and scratches wich primer doesn't fill and the regular putty is too thick for? I was thinking in the line of 'liquid putty'. Does anyone has any experience or tips? Any help is greatly appreciated. Cheers, Rick

Great news! I am glad to see Tamiya combining beautiful vintage shells on a modern chassis. Without sounding ungreatful, I hope Tamiya will use the F104 chassis to fit some older F1 shells, such as the F1 cars from the mid en late sixties such as the Ferrari 312, Lotus 43 and Honda RA273 etc. The F104 is in my opinion perfect for these shells because of the inboard battery design. RC Channel has been busy. New rear axle arms with aluminum rear cage, also available separately. http://www.rccarparts.biz/product_info.php...products_id=467 JAnderson Posted Yesterday, 11:52 PM I ordered one, even though it was a bit pricey; I just like the whole design: looks perfect for making a 'Streetversion' SRB. In the past I got the highlift axles and some alu rimms for my Buggy Champ: they all are high quality parts. Cherio, Rick

Blazer Leaf Spring Replacement
Torhaantje replied to Torhaantje's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Thanks for the input so far! I have looked at the RC4WD springs and the new Hilux ones and they look far more flexable. I also have the idea that they raise the rideheight: will the blazer drive train still fit, or should you use longer drive shafts ( eg: mountaineer ones)? I hope that there is an option with more flex, without raising the truck and thus preserve the scale looks: looking at the pics, 1/14 truck leafsprings look very scale, but as I mentioned: I have no idea if they will fit. Hi all, I am currently working on my Blazing blazer project. I would like it to be a runner. The standard leafsprings,we all know, are very stiff. So I am wondering if there are any alternatives that won't raise the ride height too much and provide a soft ride. Important too me is that the truck suspension must be looking scale. I was looking at the 1/14 truck leafsprings, but have no idea what the size of those is and if they would fit. Any input is much appreciated! Cherio from Holland, Rick

Hi all, With the re-release of the buggy champ and sandscorcher 2010, I am really looking forward to run these cars. I have built my Buggy champ: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...75&sid=5123 with great pleasure, but found the "upgraded" shocks still leaking and not performing well. So I would like to upgrade the shocks. What modern shocks will fit, look good and perform accordingly? Any suggestions/ experiences are more than welcome! Cherio, Rick

Hi all, I am in the middle of finishing some drivers for my rides. As a kid, I used to build 1/20 and 1/24 scale carkits fom Tamiya. They all had waterslide decals. Today I would love to have some of them to finish of some helmets and suits. Does anyone know if they are available somewhere? Or if perhaps one of our members is making them? All info is much appreciated! Regards, Rick

Hilux/blazer Direct Steering Servo

Thanks Shodog for the reply! I was wondering if anyone has any pictures of the servo mounted upfront? Thanks, Rick -
THanks for the swift reply! Much appreciated! Rick

In general: will WD 40 affect the paint?

Will the described method damage the paint job on ABS shells? Rick

Hi all! Currently I am working on my Blazer project. When finished it will be used as a runner. Now apart from all the wonderful things in the design, I would like to have a bit more responsive and less sloppy steering. Best way to accomplish this is, I think, to move the servo upfront. My question for you Hilux/ Blazer experts is: what is the best way to do this? All info and pictures are welcome! Thanks, Rick

Thanks for the advice! I have searched the web for the racing shocks, but I only found the front shocks at RCMart. Does anyone know an online store where to buy the rear 3racing shocks also? Thanks again! Cherio, Rick

Hi all, Right now I am working on my F201 project: I got myself a 3racing chassis, upgraded the driveline, but somehow the suspension doesn't feel right. Somehow the suspension is either too hard or too soft ( I used the Tamiya hop-up springset). The thing is: I really like the inline cantilever suspension and would like it to work properly, without the front stabilizer plate. My question to you: are there any 3rd party oilshocks that will fit the F201? Or does anyone have a good setup? All help is much appreciated! Cherio, Rick
