  1. Hi Bill, The kit came with a 23 tooth pinion, and I think it was meant to run with the 70t spur. However that was with the kit 540. Personally I dropped it down a couple of gears (20/21 tooth pinion) and slapped in a mild 17 turn £20 modified and it now nips along nicley.
  2. Hi, I've got a TA-04R and it's plenty fast for me. Its easy to tweak, and from my experience, nice and strong. I've only broke one thing, and that was a front axle after a nasty high speed crash into a tool box. doh! I found that when I set it up out of the box, it exhibited quite a bit of oversteer, but after buying some harder springs for the front, it's pretty balanced now. I raced on carpet, indoors, using foams. Oh, and the diff's are pretty open, so outdoors racing is risky unless the track is nice a clear of stones.
  3. Hi, I've not locked diffs myself, but I would have thought this is what's causing the steering to not centre correctly. Locking the diffs would mean that more effort is needed by the servo to straighten the steering, so I think a stronger (more torquey) servo is probably required. cheers
  4. Hi, I have a Astute which has got hex bolts/screws holding the gearbox e.t.c onto the chassis, a lot of them are in pretty poor shape. I would like to get some normal (crosshead) screws to replace them with. Does anyone know if there are any tamiya screw sets which will fit? Cheers
  5. Hi rcwannabe, The tamiya 7.2 "hump pack" that you have could well be past it now, but I'd recommend trying to trickle charge it with your charger first to make sure. This will probably be just a case of pugging the battery into the charger, and seeing if the trickle light comes on. Don't press the charge button, as it will prbably trigger the fast charge (30 mins) which you don't want to use until your battery's have been slow charged. The trickle charge will take 12-14 hours, but if there is any life left in the battery, it should start to perk up, Incidentally, when you get it going, the fox is a pretty nice car, and will definately be worth the effort getting it going. Good Luck.
  6. After browsing the forums for months, I've just signed up to the site, and I was impressed how many members seem to be from the Essex area. I would be interested in meeting up with some tamiya club members for a meet (either at braxted or elsewhere) I have a couple of mates who also have tamiya cars who might join in. We have touring cars and some (mainly old) buggies.
