The 65mm rod is measured from the end of the thread to the elbow of the bend - not to the very tip of the end of the rod that inserts into the part
-
Thats odd ,as the original manual specifies a 65mm rod and i have just checked my original Hornet and the rods are stock with a 65mm rod in there , also ,checked through a spares bag for Hornet and that also has a 65mm rod in it

Any body got some RB decals to trade or sell? VW Touareg , Audi etc? - cheers []

Thanks Pete [Y]. Singapore_959 ,you can contact Cul-Tec ( Mike Cullen ) right here through Tamiya Club as he is a member and is also on Ebay []

Yes , they look real nice Jim .I have some of his S/S + HiLux mirrors - great work .If funds allow , i might go for something like those spots later [H]

It took me ages to get a set of R/R fronts with the holes in the match the rears i have on my Scorcher [^o)] A spare Champ Body eh !! lucky lucky.I like the way this shorty Champ drives and once i get the front wheels sorted i can then tweak it up a bit - then its on to the paint -Yummy [<)] -
I've been building some spotlights for my stock Champ ,and added some chrome trim for a nice finish [H] (the body needs stripping, hence the wobbly old decals LOL)

Funny you should say that James, last night, i built up a pair or R/R rears with lettered tyres using a pair of chrome solid CRP rims , but i need a pair of R/R solid fronts to match - and your right they look superb , thanks for the tip [] I'll post a shot tonight when i get home - Kev -

Thanks guys. The HPI option is good , but i also like the idea of sawing things up [6] so , i think i'll give the mashing a go first , then if it hits the bin , i'll be on to Tower LOL -

Thanks Ed. still working out what wheels to go with [*-)] Here is a pic of some bling on the Frog shox. The black material is a 'crinkle' finish s/a plastic film i got from Hobbystores in Romford. It sticks real well and is quite resilient .cost about 3 quid for a roll of it .I am working on the body finish , but i am going for a Red Bull livery (cliche) i like it very much after seeing the Red Bull Lunchbox (i think it is Pete Hellbelly's one?) and i haven't got anything in that style but it is hard to source a set of RB decals !! [] -
Is that what is called a flat finish Jim?
-
The Grasshopper and Hornet use a 65mm rod , should be easy to get now []
-
Good luck with the exams guys [Y]

Thanks Badboy, be my guest [].Various dampers can now be used on the rear as it is easily adaptable - but these newly built vintage Frog shocks work well , so i'll probably keep them on it for now, but i could be tempted to try Wild Ones for a cleaner look -
They say that too much revising can lead to a couple of brain problems , the first is a loss of memory , and i cant remember the second one [8-)]

Well , the chassis is finished and i gave it a run with a new Ansmann 3000 pack -and boy it goes like a bullet [] ,the gears are smooth and i'm pleased with the steering and damper set up.Those Dynamite spike rear tyres just came right off the rims , literally !! - i'll need some real wheels / tyres for some serious grip -
The thing is Badboy , although it sold for $132 , the winning bidder may have placed a higher 'kitty' which may have still beaten your $150, so you could have stayed up late and still got beaten. The upside of it all is ,that you didn't overspend , and there will be other chances to get a chrome WW2, just stay cool ,and it will happen i'm sure [] - cheers ,Kev
