Info on srb chassis differences needed.
KEV THE REV replied to Brucie's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Hi Brucie, you can use the Champ gearbox with std type SRB rear arms , but you will need to drill out the rear arms shaft holes to 5mm and make up a 5mm rods to fit into them .I have just done this mod on a project i am working on, - works fine [] -
Massive dissapointment, desperately need everybodys help!

Do the gears turn freely without the motor installed?, have you tried a volt meter across the motor output wires via the speed controller to see if you have volts output on the 3 speeds of the msc? .If you only get top speed voltage ,then the resistor could be at fault. Also try a continuity check with the volt meter on the live and negative wires from the msc to the motor wire outputs to see if there are no breaks in the circuit. Check out the msc to make sure it is well clean.Make sure that the battery is good , and holding a charge properly - sounds obvious but most things are . An ESC will replace the MSC and servo in one go , all you will see is a small unit with several wires coming from it .Check out ebay for a TEU101BK unit and you will get the idea -

Might be an idea to check the servo / rod adjustments for misalignment , also the msc needs to be clean all round and across the contacts and check the pressure nut is tightend as it should be on the rotor, check the resistor to be sure, check the motor wire connectors too [] -
Hard to pick out just one fav, but i do have some original version new in box shells , Lacia Rally, Pajero, Hotshot 1 , Fox, Grasshopper, Frog ,Super Champ (SWEET) . but if i pick one spare out , it is probably the new in bag SS front body post bags that i got years ago ,which include the mirror brackets etc, closely followed by , the new front bumpers , the speed controllers , then damper bags i guess- i am addicted to new in bag spares , like all of you new part junkies out there in Tam land , and i love it !! Check Ebay - Modelbuild has a diff set on sale now ,item # 220066823547 []
-
Yes ,the old set ups are pretty much the same , but i have noticed that some of the inboard (gearbox end) shafts dont have the shaft alignment hole in them ,other than that it should fit .[]

Hotshot might work , i have'nt got any here to try , but i have got Frog original rear dampers on my Wild one, the re-re ones are probably your best bet ,as they will look more like the W/O original without too much expense, and go straight on- try 'moonyez' on ebay , he has Frog re -re damper sets on bin for about £8 + shipping- i bought one for my stores box [] Dont forget the Hornet rears for the front - great stuff []

A good search on ebay will probably find the parts you want, the steering rods can be sourced from FAV, Frog ,Striker, Sonic Fighter etc , as they do have combinations of the rods you need. The gearbox can be built as per the FAV but is more plastic than metal , but the option is there and will do the job.The front dampers are Hornet rears , so there shouldn't be a problem getting those , the Frog original and RE-RE dampers will fit the W/O rears ok, Brat ,Lancia Rally, and probably a good many other dampers will also fit .I hope this helps []

Does anyone else have original English versions of the Brat manual showing the cover illustration shot of the Brat facing in different directions .I have both versions , and apart from the cover shots being different , there are also differences in the guide step pics all through the manual.Just wondered [H]

Its been a while since i built one of these g/boxes ,and it may sound obvious , but are all of the components present in the gearbox , ie: the diff alignment shaft, the 5,5mm spacer , etc.I cant remember if it the diff spur gear can be fitted the wrong way round or not , but it is worth a check, also, it may help if all parts are for the same g/box just to be sure , g/h/ parts for g/h , and hornet parts for hornet as there are some differences .One more thing , with the spur gear removed , check that the 3 'planet' gears move freely on their shafts before they are greased up , and when fitted make sure that they mesh well with the rear shaft bevel gears too .On the subject of the motor , have you replaced that?.Is there anything jammed inside of the motor you have been using , and does the gearbox turn freely without a motor in it? - good luck with it []

MODELZONE ,A GREAT PLACE TO SHOP !!
KEV THE REV replied to KEV THE REV's topic in General discussions
Thats quite right Joel , they cant stock everything , and most of the hobby shops anywhere near me dont stock any Tamiya kits or parts, so Modelzone for me is a positive dream, plus they have loads of cooool stuff , like the 'Bullitt' Mustang (yummy) ,GT40's ,American muscle cars and so much more - happy days eh !! [] -
Just a note to even up the equation , as Modelzone (my lhs) seems to have taken a lot of flack lately.I have just bought a few kits from there, and i found it all to be a pleasurable experience, as it has in the past .Very helpful staff, great models and accessories,(albeit the RC section is a bit thin)but i still i love it in there. Thanks Dean []
