Hi there, when spraying my hard shells , i use a plastic primer / filler spray paint ( it looks like the yellow primer paint you may have seen on various members project shots here and there ).This paint i normally use on the bare plastic ,and then flat well back to fill any imperfections.This shouldn't be used too heavily ,as you can lose some detail.Light primers can be used from then on as normal.I have sprayed this filler/ primer over old prepared paint , but it shouldn't be used over some fresh finishes like fresh lacquer / clear coat etc. as it can react with it causing 'tearing' or 'crazing', and as previously stated the whole thing can become a nightmare.I haven't used it over Tamiya paint though ,so i cant say how that would go. []

Just checked an ARC227 in one of my old buggies , but that has an ariel wire of about 18 inches (450mm) ,and it looks to be cut down , but i cant be sure - sorry i cant be of much help ,but at least you know it should be 18" or more [] cheers ,Kev

Hi Jim, i have an unmodified ARB 227 receiver in my Lancia Rally original model from the '80's and the ariel wire is 3 feet long (900mm). I know your receiver is an ARC , but this might help in some way [] cheers ,Kev

Thanks to 'Focus1' i now have the front end that i need to repair my damaged runner shell [] . I would still like to get a good S/Champ shell for my display build - new would be good - cash? / trade? - cheers !!

When its cold , and i want to paint , i spray my shells in my shed , i have been known to warm the air in the shed with a heat gun first .Once sprayed , i leave it in there for a couple of minutes ,to slightly harden ,then transfer the painting table , with a card shield around it, into the house, thus preventing anything being dropped or blown onto it .Be careful if the outside temp is too low as the paint will bloom, similarly if it is cold and you bring it in doors to the warm you may find it looks like it has bloomed ,but this should only be the temperature change forming on the shell ,this should disappear as the shell reaches your room temperature, dont make the room too hot as it doesn't need to be .And if you spray in a shed or garage,make sure there are not cobwebs ,dust etc near or above your spraying area- works for me []

Then there's the HPI sponsored British Touring Car team that had a televised blast in the pit garages with vast quantites of HPI cars and trucks when they were not racing the real thing. What a cool job eh !! [H]

I haven't seen that episode yet .But on a similar subject ,has anyone seen 'Kindergarten cop' ?.There is a scene in a toy store( not the toy race track scene - the other toy store scene) ,and in the background there is a vintage kit on a shelf , you only get a brief glimpse of it ,but i am sure it is a Bruiser kit - just a bit of nostalgia there - best part of the film in my opinion [] sorry to all you Arnie fans out there , mind you ,i've watched it a few times to get a better look at the kit, thats my excuse an' i'm sticking to it LOL

TC member 'scollins' has a set of repro MB decals for sale, check it out .I use auto brake fluid to remove old paint - it needs a good soak all over and brushing into the detail to really get in there, this can take a few days on and off depending on the type and trhickness of paint on the shell .Once all the paint is off ,then wash well with soapy water ,degrease and proceed with painting process as normal- sorted []
