  1. I was short of the original door mirror brackets , so I made them too . I thought about what to use and eventually came up with a couple of cheapo 1 metre tape measures I had lying around and the metal tips fitted the bill . A bit of filing and drilling , Tamiya M2 bolts with the head filed down , nut and washer on the inside and hey presto , mirror brackets. A bit of finishing and body paint will make them nice

    oops , pics below

The stiffening plate should be more than enough. I got one from rcmart last year for my original rough rider which I restored. Those plates make a big difference.

Cheers guys . Yes the plate makes a big difference without breaking the bank - or the body and radio box which are usually the casualties from the stock flex . These are simple to make from flat alu. sheet and using the original GRP plate as a pattern . I kept it narrower than the GRP one on purpose so it isn't too obvious when seen from the side

I've 3 cars I'm not sure what happened to.

My first car , the Tamiya Frog. I've found the front wheels, rear wheels and rear shock arms (?), But not chassis/ body etc.

Tamiya Lunchbox, found wheels, but nothing else..

Tamiya Holiday Buggy, I remember melting the body with fireworks in my mid teens, strapping a rocket to it to make it faster (even almost 35yrs ago, a 380 was slowwww), I think I've front arms with wheels attached,  but nothing else.

I can't imagine I'd binned them, they're in my folks loft which they rarely go up, and certainly wouldn't randomly bin anything, so....🤷‍♂️

    Get in that loft !!

  4. Usually when I'm hunting high and low for something I'm sure I've got , it turns out I've sold it or swapped it and forgotten all about the sale / trade  . The other problem is moving things from the 'that's where it is' place to another 'I'll remember where I put that ' place , then forgetting where that place is.

One parcel which I was waiting for some time arrived today from Sweden... It took much longer than usual, and the tracking of the parcel still show it under transportation in France at Sweden side and under preparation at sender on French tracking side... I had some fear each time I opened the tracking. My wife did receive the package today and she did not told me, so I was surprised to find it when back form the office...

It was within a bigger box, but inside there was a nice box

And inside the box, an incomplete car (missing wheels and central shaft, and maybe other details). And there was a lot of goodies, which should allow me to complete 3 cars (at the exception of the wheels).

The plan was for this Coors to be a donor chassis for the Shogun. I'll probably missing wheels set and a rear gearbox for the Coors, but now that I have a box, we can say that I have an incomplete Coors to complete :)

I had one of these they are pretty cool models , I also built a Lunchbox to compliment it

I don't remember, but were the door handles removable on the SandScorchers?  I used re-re bodies on mine and I thought they were molded onto the doors.. (?)

Yes , they were seperate items in chrome , Original C parts tree , parts C3 , hard to find now in good condition .There isn't much of a gluing area to glue the handles on so most fell off when running the models , and you need to scratch off the chrome to get the glue to stick as it won't bond to chrome and I suppose this didn't get done in a lot of cases , so again they would fall off , hence future re-re shells have molded handles .

I was thinking of using TS46 Light Sand spray on the outside of a rally body to give it a dusty appearance.  Anyone done that before or something similar?

I figure a few light passes across the front, some heavier arcs after each wheel, and then a bit on the rear.  Spray the outside face of the wheels and maybe tape off the windscreen to simulate the wipers cleaning it.

I'm interested in replies , I'd like to try this

WOW , that Scorcher looks BOSS !!

Now I need to get this done now ,  it's only been on the back burner for about 17 years . Don't worry , the Striker wheels are long gone

Work has started on this project again , the chassis restoration is almost completed , then the bodywork task will begin

Recently rescued this original release Midnight Pumpkin from someone that didn't want it anymore. Speed control has been upgraded to a Tamiya ESC and LED's added to the headlights. Not a bad paint job/theme, just have to fix a chip of paint missing in the hood really.

A lot of kit in the background there . I see future projects and such ;)
