Try Ebay or timetunnel models for the winch , dunno 'bout the pipes tho [

Well Paul , in my opinion, a well painted body shell will look a lot better than an unpainted one and look brighter too.The paint could be polished up for a nice shine for display etc., but as you are going to run it, then an unpainted one will probably be good for you. [

I bought a gallon (4.5 litres)of brake fluid from Halfords for around £15 (old brake fluid will do though, as previously stated).I have used it and reused it many times on different hard shells and drivers etc. It is very economical because it is re- useable with a bit of straining out here and there.Probably a lot cheaper than buying cans of oven cleaner , but it is each to their own.[

This colour sounds like the new Ford Focus colour .Might be worth trying the Ford dealers for the paint

Just another quick note.I use a 'helping hands' magnifying glass set up for tyre lettering ,as my old mince pies are not what they used to be , but it makes the tyre lettering jobs a doddle [

I use an Edding 780 white paint pen (.8mm nib) for the first coat ,then a Pentel Hybrid gel pen for the second 'flat finish' coat for display .The Edding is good and solid on its own for a runner ,but is slightly glossed [

Surely the end time of an auction is just that ,the end time .A bidder can place a bid at ANY time within the auction run time - yes?.I see this as a bidders own option of when they place a bid [

Thanks Scott , even runners deserve to look tasty [H]

Thanks for the kind words,Yes , i will run it , but only light running. The good thing is that if it does get torn up underneath it can be removed and re- covered.I did experiment with a 'chrome' foil ,but it didn't look too good and dodn't stick too well either .I am looking for a brushed alloy effect , i have seen one but it was in a small panel ,not big enough to cover the length of the lower plate and i didn't want to join it .Cheers ,Kev [Y]

I am restoring a Super Champ ,and both the chassis and the mechanism deck were looking a bit tired and scratched / discoloured.I found a self adhesive 'structured' look vinyl foil in Hobbystores in Romford, it sticks real good and looks great , a cheap tidy up for a runner[

Yes it is an Ishimasa chassis , out of interest i have a brand new chassis complete with unpainted body ,just missing the MSC + decals, it is even still mounted to the card that it was boxed in ,and is in mint condition , but not very popular [8-)]

Hi Alfy, i have put all of the TA02 parts on ebay now - sorry .I do have a pair of Tamiya Mini M01 etc. damper springs ,they are the same length but fewer coils.I also have an odd spring with the same number of coils as the TA02 dampers ,but it is a bit longer and can be cut down.LMK if you're interested ,cheers ,Kev [

Best Way To Remove Old Paint?
in Vintage Tamiya Discussion

they probably will when you tell them your going to throw brake fluid all over your car, [:S] The stripping process time can vary , but it is worth the wait- you will normally see a reaction after a day or so depending on the paint , then just rotate the shell if it is not completely covered in the fluid bath, also, you can brush over the fluid while the shell is soaking , rather like basting a sunday roast LOL, use a toothbrush and things like macdonalds' wooden stirrers and toothpicks to clean out the details on the shell. When you are happy that all of the paint is off ( sometimes the paint can stain the plastic and wont all come out - but its cool) you can wash the shell in warm soapy water ,then degrease ready for spraying- easy eh !!
