Hiya fellow Tamiya Clubbers, a Merry Xmas to you all. Right, now that's out of the way.
Got myself a King Cab, thanx to my good mate Renco5012. Just got back from his end of New Zealand today, after a couple of days running some R/Cs around.
What I need to get this King Cab up and runnin`, is the Right gear box joint part# SA9. It's the shorter one of the two. I bought a ESC (with reverse) and battery for it the other day, plugged everything and.......bad noise coming from the rear end. No dramas though, Mike had told me that there was noise, and slipping. Took diff apart and found that the shorter gear box joint was actually longer than it was supposed to be.
The only other parts I might need are the yellow spacers for the top of the shocks. If anyone has got the above mentioned parts, please let me know.
Cheers'
Del (happy to be back) Boy

What's the point in having them if you're not going to use them. That is after all what they're made for. If Mr Tamiya didn't make them to use, then he would have released them as static models with no electrical componets or working suspension.
I'm baffled by the amount of SHELF QUEENS that are around. It's okay if you've got plenty of money, but for us lowley paid people if you've got `em use `em. I do agree with some people who may have one spare sitting in a box of bits in their cupboard for the real early stuff, but one runner and one not-going-broken-down-in-parts spares car IMO is all you need. Just don't go jumping over houses or silly things like that, use them for what they were made for, tracks.[
]What good are SHELF QUEENS when your six-foot-under. unless you've educated your children they're going to get rid of them at some stage of their lives, probally for durgs and the like.[

Striker = Left over F1 body throwen onto off-road chassis
Hotshot = Because my mate had one and he used to beat my Grasshopper
Hotshot 2 = Because it's the same has Hotshot, see above description.
Falcon
Bigwig
Super Sabre
Thunder Shot, Thunder Dragon
Sonic Fighter = Sonic the Hedgehog wouldn't be seen dead in it.
As I see it every buggy after the Wild One. Mr Tamiya must have started taking some wicked drugs after that. Not only did he stop making probaly his best sellers, but it seems like he met someone from NASA or similar and thought........... Well who knows what he thought.

Hey John, things have been **** since we got to Aus.
The springs from my Mad Force are almost perfect, just a little shorter (by a couple of mm) but they'll do until I find some proper King Cab ones. Why did I sell all my wicked Tamiyas? Live and learn I `suppose. I'm not going to get into it has much as I did before. Yeah right!!!! [8)]
Thanks for doing that mate. When I looked at them I thought that they'd be close to being almost right. Too many years in R/C. [8D]

It's been awhile but I'm still around. Things in Aussie didn't go to plan, so I'm heading back to New Zealand at the end of this month.
On my journey back to Chch, I'm calling in to see Renco5012. Somewhere along the line I've bought one of his Nissan King Cabs, my second Tamiya. It needs some parts to get it to runner status, one (more to the point 4) things it does need is springs for the shockies. I've just found the spare springs for my Mad Force, which in my expert eyes look like they'll fit.[
]My question is: Can somebody measure the stock standard King Cab springs, and or complete shock from centre top mounting point to centre bottom mounting point let me know what length they are.
Thank you

All right then geezers.
Looks like I'll be in Aussie (Perth) sooner than I thought, went and sussed out some airfares today, also got the dredded passport photo done. All that photo needs now, is one of those black boards hanging `round me neck. The one with the letters and numbers on it, and I wouldn't be going anywhere.
I'm going to be flying out on the 5th March, leaving the family behind[
] for about two months. Got to get a job driving trucks and get the family somewhere to live. Wifey's staying to finish up the sale of the house, and tidy-up the mountain of debt. Then the family will be on its way.Any of you TCers from Perth??

Mega Force
in Kyosho
Hiya Mike, check out Trade-me. There's 3 on there now, starting bids as follows one @ $450.00, one @ $500.00, and one @ $590. Go for the Mad Force dude, I've got one and it's the Dog's B******s. Ideal for that Golf Course, and whatever else you throw at it. Really tough truck, with the solid axles. No fears of snapping one of the poxy little drive shafts, like all the other Nitro Monsters have.
Once you get over the run in process, (which takes time if you do it wrong.[
] DOH!!)it hauls. 3-speed trans on the Mad,46mph top speed right outta the box.[}
] 1-speed trans on the Mega, top speed 18mph.[
]So far I've had mine at the Wiamak river, (on the dry bit lol) out on the road outside home, over the road and into the neighbours yard, climbing over my rock garden. Going to the local skate park soon, just to stir. Then I'm going to the local BMX track for some air-time.
Like raemin said, lots of up-grades. Can add another set of shocks if you want, I will be doing that soon.
Anyway that's just my opinion. If I was you I'd go for the RTR, just for the ease of not having to build it. It's a pretty basic set-up anyway, so if you had to strip it down it'll be simple. I had a look at the Traxxas Revo, the only thing I liked about that truck was the body shell.

Hi guys.
Well sorry to say but[
], I'm packing up the family at the end of 2005 and heading to Perth. So at the moment does this make me a Pom living in New Zealand, soon to be an ex Pom-iwi living in Aussie.Got a question for you Aussie R/Cers. What are the hobby shops like over there? Mainly Perth. If anyone lives there I'd like to know what's about.

Hiya fellow TCers, I'm selling my collection (apart from the Tank and WW2). Three of my cars are on a local trading site, Grasshopper, Blackfoot, and 306 Maxi. The Hornet has gone to REO.
What I want to know is what is my Wild One worth, without radio gear. (as I don't have any) I'd like a honest price, not one of those "I'll give you $...." I know how some collectors think, "I'll get it for next to nothing and make" I've done it myself.
Basically it's so I've got a rough idea of, (if it comes down to it) how much to put it on E-Bay for.
That's if no-one on here wants it.

Hi Chris. Just wanted to know if I have all the correct details, can I pay the subscription fee for another member. (Renco5012) We came to an arrangement, I wanted some Pumpkin bits, he needed to resubscribe. He can't pay it from his end.
Is this okay with club rules, and you?

Can someone please let me know how to add a third shock to the rear of a Pumpkin (the R/C variety)[
] I've seen a pic of one in someones showroom, but I can't remember who it is. They attached another shock between the gearbox and the chassis, to replace the silly little springs on either side that break/or aren't there. I just want to know what the best way to attach it is, and what shock to use. I've got a spare shock from my Ferrari F-40,(58098)the one that connects the chassis to the rear. Will that one do?[?]Cheers'

Happy birthdays to you all [
] I live in New Zealand which makes me the winner, `cause I'm futher away than everyone.[
]There is only 1 Hobby shop close to where I live, and they don't stock much Tamiya stuff.[
] They have lots of KyoshoCarsonSchumakerTraxxasDuratraxandafewothercheapbrands kits. So I need to have a Storm running rampent in my wife's garden[}

Gidday mate. How's it? I will do that. I need a C-parts, D-Parts, an E-parts, A,B,C screw bags and a Body parts set

id="quote">id="quote">Del, get in touch with Don (y'know, Bluefoot). I gave him a D tree a couple of weeks ago that I got at my LHS for $2 since he was after one & I had no use for it. What parts where you after exactly? I have quite a few Pumpkin parts.
Mike.

Hiya Shodog, and others. Thanks for your replys. I'm currently bidding on a MP chassis, body, and chrome parts, I'll have to find some D-parts somewhere. The seller has got some, but I've spent upto my limit. As for all the other bits, I've got about three boxes of stuff from some of the other Tamiyas I've brought over the years. So I should be alright for some of the bits.

id="quote">id="quote">As Canadian said they are the same. The LB/MP front arms are shared with the GH1 and Hornet. The rear gear cases are the same also. early Grasshoppers had a gear case with out the axle strengthening but those were changed before the hornet came out.
wildone, to make your parts into a Pumpkin chassis you'll need the chassis and D parts and the front axles. A few other items will be needed also. It might be more cost effective to pick up a used MP chassis for about $50 as you will probably spend more on parts.
-
Do these four Tamiya's share the same front and rear ends. Grasshopper/Hornet, Vanessa's Lunchbox/Midnight Pumpkin. `Cause if they do I'll be rapped. As I have most of the parts in my trade room,[^] which I might have to take out. Am I allowed to do that??[?]

Cheers friends. It'll be a while b4 WW2 is up and doing wild wheelies again. Just sold one of my (wanna-be Sand Scorchers), so now I've only got one set of Radio Gear and that's staying in my Wild One. I've been adviced by my Financial Advisor (Wife) that I should be getting a few other things sorted first.
But you will all be the first to know when WW2 is up and running again.

Just a quick question. Does anybody have/or know of any ali bits for Wild Willy 2??

Hi fellow TC members. Just wanted to know if I could get some advice on Wild Dagger 58231. An oppertunity has arisen for me to purchase two different WD's, on is on a local trading site, the other is through an ad I ran in another local trade magazine. I know it's not everybodys cup-of-tea, but for some reason I like it.
Is it a good medium stadium/monster truck?
Can it handle extreme off roading?
I've read the readers reviews on it's page, and as far as I can tell it seems okay. I'd really like to hear some other thoughts on this beast.
These r the hop-ups that one of them has listed:
Chassis - RC Guy Aluminium Twin Battery Chassis
Shock towers - RC Guy AL Lengthened Suspension Towers with adjustable mounts, & Hot Bodies AL 4inch Shocks
Motors - Traxxas 550 Motors with 20T Pinions for added speed
ESC - Traxxass EVX Dual Motor/Dual Battery (as used in the E-Maxx)
Wheels - Duratrax Maximum Tires & Wheels
Hi Tec Hi Torque Steering Servo witha Kimborough Servo Saver
Blue Star Bearing Kit Throughoutid="blue">
Any thoughts or advice would be great.

Yeah I know, but it's got the 20 tooth in it at the moment. I just had a look in my bits box, but I have no 20 tooth that are the same pitch as the 18. Off to the local Hobby shop tomorrow.
What is a 27 turn??
Cheers'

How long it can wheelie, I think, depends on how smoothly the front wheels go up, the smoother it is, the longer it will wheelie.
Just my 2 cents
-
Cheers fellow members. I'm going to try a Sport Tuned motor first, maybe change the pinion to the 18 tooth. I've also got a Rev tech motor, might try that one later. Much later.[
] Thanks for all your tips, I'll give them all a go. Except the excersizing of the muscle, I'll leave that up to the wife. lol[8D] -
Excuse the play on words, it has to be done when you own a Wild Willy 2. Many thanks to Renco5012 for this one. All I want to know is, how do I get longer wheelie time from WW2? Is there a record that needs to be broken?[8D] Is there something that I could put in/on the rear end to balance it out a-bit more. Does changing the pinion work?
I thought about extending the wheelie bar/wheel out another 5mm or so, not too sure if that'll work.
I suppose the answer is going to be "you could always put a faster motor in it"[:I]
Any advice or tips would be much appreciated.

King Cab part
in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Posted
Hi John, thanx for sending me that part. Got the KC running almost like new, needs a couple more bits. I'm sure I'll find them on the net, love the King Cab; it was my second Tamiya.
Can't wait to find a body and some decent tires, then I'll be real happy.
Thanx again
