  1. I actually find this rather upsetting. Tamiya have pretty much lost their way in my opinion over the past 18 months, with very little beginner product on the market at a sensible price, and seemed to be banking on the reissues to keep things going. But of all the mistakes, this one, sorry, it's unbelieveably bad. UK RRP incidentally is £85. (I assume that is with the TEU104 in the box)
  2. As we've extended the closing date to 6th March (it was to be 27th Feb), the vouchers remain valid until then - regardless of what's printed on them.
  3. We've had them in and almost all gone. I tried to order some more but they've gone on back-order and aren't expected for a while, so might be time buy the wife some flowers Thanks for the custom over the years - it's all going fine in the new place - Stevenage is open for another week and then that's it. It'll be sad to see it go, but the costs of that place have doubled in the last 5 years, and you get to a point when it's just not worth it any more...
  4. We've got rid of the excess on the Mad Rat, but there's plenty of the rest still to go. It's not that they don't sell, we just got in a double delivery late in the year which was OK whilst we had two shops running but now we're back down to one, it's a bit much stock. Feel free to post your thoughts about the cars on this thread - they do get a very mixed reaction (although no more than other brands tbh). (By the way, Corn Flakes give you constipation and make you look like this > - no fibre in them, you're better off with a bowl of porridge
  5. The Scorcher went from out of stock to in stock this afternoon on Hobby Co's stock system Expecting the kits to be delivered to us later this week. Will turn around them all ASAP Still some spare if anyone wants one

  8. The Humbrol cans are no good on polycarbonate that's actually run - they flake off on impact. OK for the odd shelf queen but that's it. They're OK for painting *solid* polycarbonate moldings but are no good for the thin poly used for Tamiya bodies. They are tolerable for the Tamiya hard bodies, but you get a better finish with Halfords... For info, Hornby's Rep came round the other day (Humbrol=Hornby now) and was saying how he's been selling bucketloads of their paint since the Tamiya stuff went off sale (which aparantly was more to do with the content not meeting EC regulations, but no other country other than the UK ever tends to enforce this) and didn't realise that the moment Tamiya actually get their act together and get the paint back on sale here, that his range will plummet! ETA is supposedly April for 8 colours and the rest around June, but we've been given so many dates it's possible this isn't right. The delay ISN'T down to the UK importer, it was aparantly due to Tamiya in Japan not supplying the correct COSHH formula sheets for UK/EC importation green lights.
  9. How about a real oddity - the duplicated number kit that Arwico had Tamiya make for Switzerland: 58401 Sauber C22 F201 At the time, we managed to get some of these and they were a F201 with the Sauber C22 F1 body set and revised wheels. It was a special edition made for the Swiss market and not distributed worldwide by Tamiya. They then reused the number for the Neo Falcon...
  10. To answer the question that often gets asked - the prices in the shop are the same as on the web. We don't do that "higher in the shop" fiddle that some stores like to pull... And we haven't had any new stock in this year to the Stevenage shop, so whatever's left is still at the old 2009 prices. We also didn't bother with increasing things by 2% due to the VAT change, so 10% off could be equivalent to about 20% compared to the prices that'll be the norm in a couple of months...
  11. As many of you are aware, we're closing our Stevenage shop next month - I have relocated the business to a new shop near North Berwick in Scotland, so mail order etc is unaffected. We are offering Tamiya Club visitors 10% off kits bought in person from our Stevenage store - the discount is valid on Tamiya and Ansmann RC Kits and RTRs, Acoms, Ansmann and Carson Radios and Model Paints. These items are not be reduced in the Closing Down Sale that's now on, as anything that's unsold will simply be shipped up to our new shop at the end of February. SO - if you would like 10% off, simply print this voucher and bring it with you: http://www.goldstarstockists.net/voucher.pdf We currently have good stocks of the range in, but it'd be a good idea to phone first and reserve. NB if it's NOT shown on our web site, we definitely don't have it, but you still are best to phone as the website shows the stock of both stores. This is only available if you visit the store - mail order is at the regular price.
  12. Plus we also have complete TT01s without body/ESC for just £49: Tamiya TT-01 Chassis Set (No Electrics) £49.00 http://goldstarstockists.net/live/catalog/...oducts_id/31003
  13. £15 discount on four TT01E's : Tamiya 58407 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup TT01E Tamiya 58408 Suzuki SX4 WRC TT01E Tamiya 58410 Volkswagen Golf GTI Cup TT01E Tamiya 58411 Nissan GT-R TT01E And Tamiya 58343 Ferrari F430 Pre-Painted WITHOUT ESC now just £62! 14. Anyone noticed the box change on the second batch? The stock we had in from the first shipment all had a large "30 years since the Rough Rider" sticker on the bottom right of the box lid. New stock from the second (supposedly final?) shipment doesn't have this sticker. Makes the 1st issue box more collectable in my opinion.
  15. Tweeting stuff about our new shop opening soon in the Scottish countryside (provided the roof doesn't blow off....) http://twitter.com/TamiyaStockists
  16. You'd need more than a cup of tea after a 6 hour drive up the A1
  17. Seems there's two codes - in the manual (which incidentally prefixes all the spares with a 1 for some reason - as if there weren't enough part numbers already?) there are codes for the shell, stickers, etc separately. Then there's the 51873 code which isn't in the manual but is a complete body set, old style.
  18. I only have 4 left... I think most enthusiasts pre-ordered this one though, I suspect it'll be slow and steady from here on in.
  19. Might be useful for those in Scotland - I'm now dispatching mail order from our new premises and the shop will open there in the Autumn. Until then, it's collections by appointment only: Time Tunnel Models, Unit 3, Fenton Barns Retail Village, North Berwick EH39 5BW. Tel 01620 850728 (As a guide, it's about 20 minutes from Edinburgh on the A1) Our Stevenage shop remains open until next year.
  20. Just uploaded the list to our site this evening, I'm pretty sure the spares will start flowing within the next couple of weeks: http://goldstarstockists.net/live/catalog/...?keywords=58441 Odd, very odd. He must have ordered them too late. I asked for a van full, and got a van full
  21. It's always guesswork - the models appear on the Tamiya site about a month before the UK dealers can get a price. Sometimes The Hobby Company decide not to import a kit for one reason or another - usually, the answer is that the price wasn't good... I often ask for a price on several boxes but rarely is it worth persuing. Re the Pajero, there was a second batch in the UK and we certainly got the balance of our original order and then some from that. However we've now been told no more are available in Japan to export... doesn't mean they wont appear again later though. It's not as black and white, evil importer vs good modeller, bad shop vs good shop as it might at first appear
  22. It's not on the UK price list, I have queried this myself and am waiting for reply. As for the "Drip Fed" comment, that doesn't happen - shops control what they order, just because most haven't the balls to buy more than 1 kit at a time doesn't mean the small stocks are due to the distributor telling them what they can have.
  23. That's exactly the set up that I've been told you should run it on - if you don't want the mortgage increased to cover the batteries that is. 7.2v is 7.2v, doesn't matter to the ESC what shape case or shrink it's in.
  24. I understand it'll take a hump in the shape of the original ones, although what would be made today would be shrink wrapped rather than in a hard casing. Spares will be available after release, like with all Tamiya kits. But I suspect, like with all Tamiya kits, the spares will follow a few weeks after the kits - so initially anything on sale will be broken down kits at a premium price... just a guess, judging by what happens on virtually every release that is
