  1. Looks great Paul,, thanks for the heads up that this was completed,,,I have been really bad about getting on the forums,,, no time lately-- for years!! lol. I really am interested in the gyro steering system,, I have never driven an RC car with a setup like this.... Nice work on the hidden body mounts too! When can I place my order for custom body mounts??
  2. @banditina,,,I am sorry I did not respond quickly to your question and I am sorry you are frustrated these are not made anymore. I simply have a day job as an industrial design manager that keeps me immersed into lots of CAD and email so when I get home after a long day I usually do not go on the PC or my phone to check forums or blogs of any kind, R/C - automotive, etc... I also have been really busy with helping raise two young boys since I stopped producing vacuum formed interiors several years ago. Basically - after my wife and I started a family there was no time to make these anymore, believe me I tried to keep it going. At some point, maybe I will hire someone to produce these for me from molds (plugs) that I have and still think of doing - but for now I have enough going on and will likely never be able to confirm an exact time that may happen. I have a tip for you- As I have been modeling a very long time both static and R/C models. It is possible to make an interior work for a scorcher buy creating a paper or cardboard template of the open area under the shell and transferring this to a 1/10th Tamiya touring or rally interior and with some work you can get this to look good. It does require patience and adding (gluing) some additional small pieces of styrene to fill in the gaps depending on your situation. Not exactly the easy route, but this is what I did for a while before vacuum forming interiors. I even built an Associated Dual Sport HPI-bodied 65 Mustang where the interior base panel was a piece of cardboard, and glued other pieces to that to make the interior when I was fresh out of Tamiya touring interiors. See this link for pics-- https://tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=111933&id=5414 I hope this helps, if I lived closer to you I would definitely swing by to help you in person. regards, scollins
  3. Paul, this looks like a great project! As I mentioned to you earlier today I hardly get onto the forums for TC.... lots of reasons for this,, mostly due to my desire to stay away from the computer after coming home from work being on one too much all day long. I am excited to see what you do on this one. Two other things,,, the curvature of the body can be modified with a heat gun and bending over a large wooden dowel (but be careful) and as for the VW Amorak it was on my doorstep when I came home from work today, thanks! I will post my tweaks to it as soon as I can. It did snow this past Saturday for the first time in our neighborhood but nothing accumulated!
  4. Hi there Boddney- welcome to TC. Lots of good people on here. As the others here have already indicated, scales of the kits are sometimes not the best way to determine the right chassis for a body you have in mind to use. The various 1/10 scale M-series chassis generations(and including the M-06 you asked about) are generally good for replicating smaller sized vehicles (small as in smaller in real life) and those include Mini-Coopers, Miatas, CRX, Renault Alpine, etc... The added benefit of the M-06 being that the wheelbase is highly adjustable. Unfortunately when purchasing a different body from another brand, and at times in a scale like 1/12th to fit a "small" 1/10th chassis such as an M-series Tamiya the only way you know if it will look correct or work off of your chosen dimensions of the chassis you are working from is to purchase the body and try it. Or if you've seen someone else do it before and know that it works well. As you will find TC is an excellent source for that. I have been lucky with that sometimes,,and sometimes not and end up selling the body or taking it back to the hobby shop, or returning it to the online seller/vendor if it cannot be used. I've been kit-bashing and trying different bodies on chassis types of all brands for a very long time so this is always the fun part of the project for me, when deciding what the next car will be as a hybrid of sorts. Again, welcome. s.collins
  5. All- It has been just over one year since we lost TC member and friend rad22rad, Rad Fismistr- the creator of the Awesome Alloys R/C wheels and components he used to sell on this site years ago. He was a great person and I hope that we can still look to his model building as inspiration, especially for those that are newer members to the TC community. I cannot believe it has been a year already. I still miss my friend. It is my wish that his other friends are also thinking of him that were connected to him thru this site. Sending peace and thoughts to his family and friends as I am sure it would be appreciated. s.collins

  15. Hi guys,,its been a long time! Update number 1----getting close!!
  16. Another amazing low-priced deal found accidentally on Craigslist just trolling before Christmas 2017. A perfect condition Kyosho nostalgic series GT-40 body set (circa 1996) with no trimming started, these are so incredibly hard to come by as many know. Amazing, he even had the correct wheels my first time having a set which will be used on my Gulf livery car I built over 10 years ago. The seller was so good to work with and packed it so nicely - I wish all online transactions went this smooth. The chassis will get fully cleaned, old electronics removed and a vintage Kyosho LeMans 600E motor added along with ball bearings and oil dampers from a re-re Scorpion. My other two GT-40's have Tamiya TA-02 chassis underneath, but are difficult to get the body down low enough in front due to the shock tower/body mounting attachments. So this time I will give the 2WD Mantis chassis a try again like my Daytona coupe has. Depending on what happens I may sell my dark blue bodyshell stripped and re-painted GT-40. Any other thoughts on color combos or livery tweaks?
  17. Paul,,, that is so cool!! Its going to move some air,,,kinda like this guy does...... :-)
  18. There is also a product I've used that is brush-able or spray-able that works really well. And if you brush it on it dries really matte with no brush marks left behind. It's called Americana-Decor ultra matte finish - Made by Deco Art and comes in a 2 ounce squeeze bottle. Water based.

  20. A really interesting find thru the Jalopnik website-- check it out! https://jalopnik.com/these-alternate-universe-autonomous-f1-model-kits-are-t-1821340469 "John Frye is a Digital Modeling Group Leader at Honda. He’s a professional automotive designer. That means when he decides to do a little bit of imaginative automotive artwork for fun, it ends up being the sort of thing that grabs your attention and makes you feel funny way deep in the car-glands. He’s been working on a series of model boxes of autonomous F1 cars from an alternate reality, and they’re fantastic." Here’s how John describes what he’s doing:
  21. My major advice for anyone selling on eBay---beyond taking good photos and a simple well written honest description for the general listing,,,,take photos of the car in its shipping container with packing material presented and show how well you packaged the item, and have this as part of your listing..... here is a reason why... My restored, rare, and fully RTR Kyosho Porsche 906 was sold on eBay in late September this year and two weeks after the car was delivered to the address, suddenly the buyer then claimed damage (which was very tough to prove that it was not done intentionally- it was really looking suspicious and since I restored the body with fiberglass and resin properly I know what it would have taken to crush it so badly - the buyer refused to show images of the damaged shipping container I boxed it up in- only pics of a badly smashed car) The car was damaged so badly there was no possible way it could have been without the shipping box being crushed, but it was never shown. Unfortunately after numerous calls to eBay and messages back and forth with the buyer, eBay sided with the buyer due to their "buyer protection program". Even though I have(had) 14 solid years of 100 percent positive feedback as a seller on dozens of R/C parts and many full R/C cars, as I don't sell junk or broken stuff on purpose. My solid reputation suddenly meant nothing to eBay over the phone or via email due to the buyer calling me out and filing a claim before I could work out/understand what took place with the buyer, or if the shipping service was to blame. I got no response from that avenue to resolve the case either.Worst part- eBay fully refunded the buyer (taking money back from my Paypal account) and the case closed before details were arranged for the car to get sent back to me. Then the buyer never returned the car per the rules after many many attempts to contact him. I was also set back by the fact that you positive feedback as a seller really means very little in a claim. It was a really negative experience. I enjoy this hobby so much and want anyone that buys from me to have a positive experience. Not trying to scare you from selling, just protect yourself for that one person that doesn't play nice. Most people do in this hobby we all love. Bottom line- If you have solid photographic proof that is was packed well you may have a better chance of being heard if a buyer claims you sent bad items in the mail. I learned the hard way eBay seems to side with buyers before they do with sellers regardless of their passion for getting things right or your multiple years of positive feedback as a seller.
  22. Paul, I have to say- your commitment to getting this to work as you imagined is truly impressive! You are a true Jedi!!! I am in awe of your electrical skills, from now on I will consult with you on any electrical challenge I face on my R/C projects. As for the Bump Steer truck, it is really really cool.......Movie worthy as a cameo in something maybe related to Dumb and Dumber-er-er part 3.. ;-) (thought there were two movies already ,lol) First one was the best. My god I love this thing!!!! You really could go further and do this same idea for a Pro Street project or a muscle car project,,,smoke from the tires??? I've got a NIB HPI Cuda body that would love to have smoke coming out from under the rear quarter panels!!
  23. Update on Team Build concept that TC member speedy_w_beans (Paul) and I have been collaborating on, an update is long overdue. I had work travel to Chicago, Philadelphia and over to Germany within the last 5 weeks so I've not had much time for R/C stuff. But I did promise Paul I would spend a few bucks on this project also to get it literally moving. He was kind enough to do a kickin' job on the body set and ordered a snow track system for it. He also upgraded the steering system (and travel-throw) with good GPM billet parts, added nice Yeah Racing CVD drive shafts and unlocked the rear diff that I originally locked when I built it. So as for what is the update, I ordered a mixture of RPM LED light systems (re-branded and re packaged by an eBay seller) also ordered a radio set, waterproof Traxxas ESC, hi-torque Tactic steering servo, Tundra hi-lift chrome light buckets that I will make fit into the VW body, Tamiya F-350 tires and rims (they were cheap so I went for them even though there are much neater looking options out there but cost 4 times as much) and some other misc. bits to get it rolling. Still need some fresh Traxxas battery plugs as I've switched all of my battery's over to that style. So,, in the coming weeks I plan to figure out how to improve what Paul already did with the body as he did a fantastic job. I may add some tools and winch,,etc and make a new front bumper or modify the stock one. All up in the air. Stay tuned. scollins
