First of all, I'd like to say hello as this is my first poston TamiyaClub.com. From what I've seen the site and forums are great! It's a bummer there is a membership fee though...[V]
Now to the main topic. Long ago, in a far away galaxy (2 days ago at my friends house), Randy (friend's dad) called me into their garage. I figured he wanted to throw some work my way, for some money of course. But instead, in the garage there was a plastic bag on a table, where he was waiting. He told me to look in the bag. Inside was a horribly disfigured buggy with a red body and all of its guts were hanging out of the bottom of the chassis. I inspected it closer to find it was in fact a Tamiya Hotshot. He asked me if I cared to take it off of his hands. I of course said yes. Looking back at the jumble of electronics dangling from the bottom of the chassis, I could tell that it had not been used in years, and when it was used, it was driven HARD. 12 CELLS ON A 6-TURN HARD. That would most definately explain the the molten blob that was at one time a mechanical speed controller. When I got home that night, I immediately started tearing it apart. Several hours and 6 Cokes later, the Hotshot was once again a rolling chassis. Yesterday it got electronics installed (JR 3 channel receiver, Novak Super-Rooster, 14 turn Speed Gems 2 motor).
But as always, there are questions. I know nothing about gearing for 4WD cars compared to 2WD. All I have driven previously were electric stadium trucks. If adjusting the pinion/spur gear is different, please share. Also, I don't know of anyplace that sells parts for the Hotshot, if there is one. Any links would help a LOT. And one last request, the car did not come with the manual. If anyone or any website has an exploded view of the car, please share.
I know this is a lot to ask for a first post, but I am really looking forward to doing this. All help is appreciated.
Thanks a lot,
Zach[]
