  1. I don't understand this item. The stock 1/14 tractor trucks shift servo arm has 5 teeth adjustment for length and looks nothing like the upgraded part. The upgrade part (which is the mid grey Aluminium part in the image above, not the 5 other black plastic parts in the image) looks much more like the steering servo horn? Can someone please explain what is going on here?

    In fact, Tamiya 54893 looks more correct for this shift servo function?

    Anyone tried that Amewi pack ?

    It's on Amazon UK for 26.71 GBP with free delivery. Same size as the Brainergy 801004 and Core RC 293, with leads both coming out of the centre. No reviews found yet though.

    That's close-minded, i've been running undersized packs (lighter=faster) and round-cell shaped packs in it to much joy.

    I'm fond of the Reedy WolfPack 751 for emulating round-cell packs.  I've run it in my Cup Racer, XRay T1 and soon my TA05, M04, etc.

    Reedy Wolfpack 751 doesn't seem to be imported into UK unfortunately. Jamara pack is a rediculous price in UK. The Yuki Brainergy pack is 40 quid from Germany with the postage. Core 293 pack is about 40 quid with the postage from ModelSport, and 38 quid from Schumacher with the postage. Wow, after all this time, surely there is a cheaper option for a compatible Lipo to fit my Tamiya old and re-re Frog?

  5. Where can I buy those Corsair Racing rally block tyres? They seem to have vanished... maybe they got stopped in making them because they look like Tamiya rally block treads?

  6. I just got the body set 51476 for this car and they have removed the Repsol decals!! Why is this?

    Also, the Marlboro decals in the 1:1 which were altered to just plain blocks of color with no name in the original 58096 1/10 have also now been removed completely!!!??

    Just noticed another one missing, the Top Gear decal from the rear window!

    Fortunately on the 51401 Lancia Delta Integrale body parts set and the Mini Cooper `94 Monte Carlo 84186 body parts set (I bought both of these) I checked and every single decal is present and correct, same as the originals of 58117 and 58163!

    However, the 6 Martini decals from the 58117's interior for the driver and co-driver's helmet (#51) are not present on 51401's new altered sticker sheet for the re-release kit 58342! And they weren't present in the original optional rally cockpit interior 50463 or in the new optional rally cockpit interior 54491 as far as I am aware. They only came as a separate decal sheet for 58342 numbered 9495465 ! As pictured here ;-

    Can you measure the exact length of this Core CR293 please, I feel it's the best one for me to order, Schumacher have them at 33 GBP delivered, and it means I can use English and be able to return it easily if there is a problem etc.

    Also, how long does it hold a charge for? For example my Futaba T6XS battery pack is a 3rd party Lipo and I've only charged it once since new and it's held it's charge for over a year!

  8. A link to purchasing the Venom 15085 battery would be appreciated. I can't see anywhere else to get them other than Ebay, and the Import charge when I try that is 11 GBP on top of the postage. Amazon.com won't send me one no matter what seller I choose, even the International sellers, since I'm in UK, and the batteries are restricted items for postage via Air.

    This Venom battery is not available in the UK. Venom don't seem to have UK dealers or a UK presence? Tower hobbies /.Amazon etc. can't sent me one as it's a restricted item for postage No chance of getting my hands on one it seems?

  10. If you do buy a new motor, you are going to have the problem of having no motor pinion to fix onto the new motor.

    I bought a Jet Hopper with it's original motor and pinion all in place, and simply removed the existing electronics board and installed my own receiver and steering servo. I used a 6V 5xNiMH 1.2V AA cells battery pack for the motor.

    I think the only way forwards for you is to buy another Jet Hopper with the motor / gearbox intact.

    Unless you fancy the idea of putting a powerful brushless motor in it like Mark did?

    I painted my Frog roll cage with a brush and Tamiya Black brush-on Polycarbonate paint PC series (30ml glass jar). It's a lot easier to remove if you screw it up a few times like I did (alcohol removes it completely).

  12. Hi, I recently got a CS Electronic brand PowerCheck Motor Dyno from Ebay (it's for Brushed motors ONLY) these used to cost like 500 Euros, I got it for 6 GBP, it was distributed by Schumacher back in the early/mid 2000's I believe.

    I made up some cables today for it and was able to test my Tamiya Super Stock RZ motor and get some figures and a graph out of it (see pics below for figures and graph) via it's PC connection. The user manual for the PowerCheck unit seems to say that the Power figure is the Mechanical Output Power (Mechanical Work Done) which seems to be backed up from what it says here where they water dipped and then motor sprayed and then added comm drops to a 20T stock motor here ;- http://forum.racing-cars.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=388

    The Geek in me thinks this is absolutely fascinating. I would love to be able to get a similar unit but for brushless motors and test out my 380 core sized, 540 can sized Keda C40 (Hobbywing clone) 13T 3300KV motor. But no doubt the cost would be horrendous for such a brushless dyno...

    I'll be testing more of the same motors, then a Dynatech, then a couple of Technigolds (real ones not the modern MFT RX-15 plus which seems to have different spec's to the original Technigold) then some stock RS540S motors etc. and maybe my Kyosho NIB LeMans 240S motor.

    Oh yeah, forgot to mention, there's 2 things that I don't understand about the graphs produced ;-

    1) What is the significance of the green horizontal power line (103 Watts, it's not even the RMS of the peak power or anything?) ?!

    2) How come the voltage (blue line) goes up to like over 9V ? The input was only 7.8V (I tested it on a multimeter before the test started, just the battery not even connected to the unit!). The back EMF can only be less than the input so it can't even be that? Wierd.

    Because of this, the figures for the efficiency and power seem to be somewhat inaccurate since e.g. on that graph, at max. efficiency of 76.1 per cent, if mechanical output is 115W then the power consumption would be 115 * 100/76.1 = 151.1W, therefore because current draw is shown as 18.4A, the input voltage was 8.21V (1.37V per cell), but I measured the pack voltage at 7.8V with nothing connected except the multimeter, before the test started. The PowerCheck seems to measure the voltage wrong and because of this some of the other figures would appear to be out as well? Can someone explain this?

    BTW I tried to test the motor with my Storm brand LiFe / LiFePo4 / Lithium Ferrite 2200mAh 6.6V battery but the Dyno kept saying "NiCad not charged" (it didn't like the low voltage compared to 7.2V 6 cells NiCd).

  13. Finished #4 glass vitrine. This time a corner vitrine. Not so comfortable because small door in front and even larger room inside most of the model is hidden. Still have to try several options how to display which model. Two more to come later. They are ordered because they ran out of stock :angry:

  14. From MFA's data on the "Technigold" 'substitute' motor RX-15, it says ;-

    Nominal Voltage: 7.2V constant

    Operating Range 6.0-8.4V

    RPM (AT NO LOAD) : 22,500

    Current (AT NO LOAD): 2.4A

    RPM (AT MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY): 15,600

    Current (AT MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY): 10.3A

    ...these figures are rather different than for the Technigold. Either someone has made a mistake or the figures are measured at the wrong voltage or the motor is not the same wind as the original Technigold. Maybe someone could contact Mabuchi and MFA and see what they have to say about it. For fun I just contacted Keda, Leopard and HobbyWing and asked them for graphs / simulation for their 13T 3000KV 380 rotor 540 can sized motor that I bought for my Sand Scorcher, I thought it was interesting to compare it to the original Technigold.
