NEED HELP IDENTIFYING THIS LOT OF STUFF!!!
NYDriver replied to NYDriver's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Thanks for the replys guys, it helps alot. Does anyone know that the metal part with the two headlights is from? Also, what does SRB stand for? -
-
Please, if anone know what some or all of this stuff belongs to, please let me know, got it in a lot of Frog parts. Thanks. Tom
-
The track looks great, look forward to a possible meet out there. Where are you exactly in Jersey? What major highway/exit is near your house?
-
We would not want to be too close to the Airfield at FBF because we do not want to cause radio interference with the Guys flying the planes. I dont want to see a 6 foot plane come crashing down because I stepped on someones channel. Also, if anyone want to meet me there this Saturday to sope out a good spot, let me know.
-
I have been to FBF many times, but have not found a good place for off-road, I guess a scouting mission is in order.
-
Peter, Prospect park would be fine for me, can be there in 20 minutes, if you can find a good spot, let me know, with the weather as warm as it was until yesterday, we may be able to get together soon. I am also going to scout out Floyd Bennet Field. I race at an onroad track they have there (nitro only), I will try to find a good spot there for offroad. I like it there because its secluded. Tom

Its been a long time since I started this thread, some people contacted me but I guess no one was ever serious even though some lived in my area, no one ever commited to a meet. I would still like to get together, there has to be some place in Brooklyn where can can have a decent run. I have enough cones and ramps to make a decent track, so all we need at the least is a flat dirt field. Volks, your backyard track sounds interesting, let me know if you are able to get it cleaned up. I wish I could help, but due to the distance between us, and my only being availible on weekends, that would be tough. I wish I had a track in my yard, but you could not even fit an Xmod track back there. I really want to race my Mod Frog, Blackfoot and Grasshopper, as well as my E-Maxx, RC10B4 and RC18T. Let me know guys and lets get something going!!!

Forget the Re-Re's, here's my Super Frog
NYDriver replied to NYDriver's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Thanks, I usually buy hop-ups, a lot of hop-ups, or a frog with a lot of hop-ups when I can get them really cheap. I never spend top dollar on NIP Hop-ups like some people do, it just doesn't pay to modify a vinatge car if its going to cost you $300 just for it to sit on the shelf. I do have a runner Frog that has just as many mods as this one, but I usually put the used ones on it, as its not a shelf queen. I love bashing it around though. The car is as heavy as badword with all these hop-ups. -
Forget the Re-Re's, here's my Super Frog

ShoDog, you are right on all points, all these Maker's names get confusing. My next two new built Frog projects will be an all original (already got the original new body painted to box art by a pro) and another modified using the very rare MRP Frog pan car kit. -
This is one on my dozen original Frog's, its about 90% new parts, and has the following: Parma Blue front mono-shock Parma Blue rear shock Parma Blue Rear Arm stabilizer Parma Blue side Nerf Bars Parma Red battery door holder Trinity Blue Rear anti sway bar Trinity HD front steering Linkage CRP front bumper, front skid plate, rear skid plate, and rear bumper, all dyed black CRP adjustable motor mount CRP yellow bushing mounts JG orange rear Hubs Proline black wheels Troll yellow tires Thorp ball diff Thorp rear hex short and long axles Brand new off the tree original frames New All metal parts Mod motor and of course ball bearings Awesome vintage custom painted body Actually, the only things used on this car are the black rims, nerf bars, rear bumper and the ball diff, all else is brand new. One of the many new built, modified Frogs I will be building, will add more pics is anyone wants to see.

Which 3-speed is this and whats it worth???
NYDriver replied to NYDriver's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
I named the pics, which were sent to me numbered. I named them Bruiser because I was assuming it was a Bruiser. -
I have an opportunity to buy this, I am not sure what model it is. I would also like to know what it is worth in its present condition. Please email me at oldjoes@aol.com if you know. Thanks. Tom http://members.aol.com/oldjoes/bruiser1.jpg http://members.aol.com/oldjoes/bruiser2.jpg

I am glad the new frog has such substantial changes, maybe the original will still hold its value somewhat.
-
Woober, Pics of HT Frog or Blackfoot preferred, any HT will be nice.
-
Dan, that is a really great Hot Trick Blackfoot, those are really excellent mods you did. You show put that JG front shock tower in some red dye and turn it red, it would look really great. Anyone else have an Hot Tricks they can share pics of, I know there are not that many out there. I am now starting on my next project as well, after a long search, I finally found a NIB uncut, unpainted Frog body, which I had my friend, an expert custom RC body painter, paint to match The Frog box art using the correct colors, which I will decal(original decals) and place on my new built, vintage Frog, to badword with the re-releases, there is nothing like a vintage original Frog.

I have to agree that the Red Prince probably would not be performer, but I will never run it so I will never find out. I disagree that it is ugly, I think it looks really cool, considering the time period, and I really like the red and yellow color scheme. I had to dye the parts red on the CRP tri-level wing, the yellow heat shrink wrap for the main wing came with the kit. I am going to flip the color scheme of the tires, yellow tires and red rims, and will post a pic as soon as I build and mount the tires, I think the CRP yellow rear hubs and tranny bearing supports also add to it. You cant see in pic, but I even used red teflon bearings for the front tires. This is with out a doubt my Frog Holy Grail.

I did not buy the nose plate recently, I had it for quite a while. I don't have any other HT parts, except for the lowering kit which I did not use, sorry. Yes, I did have the same problem with the plastic shock collars, you cannot overtighten, I bought two brand new pairs from TamiyaTech, cheap enough at $5 a pair. I used thme on both the front and the rear, because any larger shocks were too long for the rear. All thats left is to mount a servo, an RC10 Battery cup kit, body mounts, and to find a body that will fit right and look cool at the same time. I will post more pics when these things are done.

Well, its been two years in the making, the hardest part was getting all the parts on Ebay, very hard to find and very expensive. Car is about 90% brand new right out of the bag parts, only the maind chassis plate, side rails, tranny mount, and Thorp rear parts are lightly used, every thing else brand new as stated. This is the ultimate Frog Dream Machine. Of course, it will never be driven, retired to the shelf until such time that I may decide to sdell it as I am getting in to modern cars and trucks more and more.

How is this for rare, a Hot Trick Red Prince Frog with Thorp transmission. Made up of 90% Brand New out of the bag parts. Took me two years to get all these parts together.
-
Jay, I have one of those trackmasters as well and am planning to install in on a Hot Trick Red Prince Frog chassis that I have, would you mind shooting me an email as well? Thanks Tom
-
Just want you guys to know, this project is not dead, just sidetracked by me getting into nitro. I will have more updates soon. Tom

I have these utems I need help identifying, the first is a pair of trannys that I got jury rigged on a pair of Frogs I bought from the same seller on ebay. They look like the grasshopper/lunchbox tranny with some small exceptions, one being the molded on non-removable motor cover.Maybe its early issue??? The second is a brand new set of on- road tires, they say Michelin Trx on the side and are 1/10 scale. Any help would be appreciated as I am trying to clear out my spares and would like to sell these but need to know what they are first. Thanks.

NYDriver replied to karlfrancis's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Try a larger pinion, I have installed so many 540's in my GH's and never had this problem. Tom
