re shortening the wheelbase, the Golf VR6 and possibly the Renault Clio came with a FF01 chassis slightly shorter than most, but it can be adjusted to the usual length. only maybe a centimetre or so difference.

Cheers Joe, I'll bear that in mind! I've spent the last few hours worrying my wallet on Ebay, Fusion and Stella, before settling on a new bodyset for my VR6.... i'll keep it mint this time! I'll dig the old one out for a runner, as I'll have to shorten the wheelbase. The old shell is in a right mess! Might try to do something interesting with it, we'll see how it goes. I'll upload some pics as soon as I sort my full membership JB p.s. cheers...... I did as you recommended... Stella wanted £48.87 for the kit, then an extra £23.57 to post, totalling £72.44 Fusion are offering the same kit for £80 delivered. I guess in this case I'd go with fusion, as it avoids the risk of getting stung for taxes! Are the saving of ordering from HK normally more significant than this? cheers JB

When people buy from Hong Kong, what sites do they use? I was looking at Stella Models, but was a bit wary as I couldn't find out how much shipping would be for an R34 Kit. Has anyone used them before and would be able to advise me of their costs? cheers JB

thanks for all your help.... here's what I've done... 1) Tightened up diff. 2) Tried different motor (standard Losi motor) with standard pinion, sounded squeely still. and still went very slow! 3) Tried Losi motor with Losi Pinion (only 21t) Still sounds squeely but will now keep up with my friends Tamiya Escort, so much better! I think as Willy advised I may not have the gears meshing properly, as I did tighten the motor right up to the other gear. So I'll give that a shot! All I need now is a new pinion, I think! As a furthur question, I'm currently running the car as a standard wheelbas,e rather than the shorter 'golf' configuration. Are there any shells available that would fit the shorter length? and what does it mean 190mm or 200mm? Is that the width? if so what would I use with my tamiya? Hello, this is my first post here, I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, I've had a good search but couldn't find anything. To those of you who have made 100's of cars, I'm probably asking a very stupid or naive question, but here goes. I've recently dug my old ff-01 vr6 out of the loft, and tried to get it working again. It used to have the standard msc, but I've just bought a new (cheap) esc and installed it. I charged up the battery for the first time in about 5 years and set up the esc. The only problem is the car is extremely slow and very very whiny! I have however lost the instructions for the car and so don't want to take it apart to not get it back together again. I tried all the electrics in my XX and it runs fine, so I assume it is a transmission problem with the FF-01. I remember when I first built it I had problems with not tightening the diff up enough, could this be the problem? Also, I think the cog (please excuse my ignorance!) attached to the motor may be worn down, but I have nothing to refer it to. If anyone could help me by giving me some tips or refering me to an online guide, it would be much appreciated. Thanks JB ps.
