  1. It was re-re'd with the 30th anniversary Porsche so perhaps it's just held back stock for bigger margin

The 30th anniversary Porsche was different model then this 911 GT2. It was the Porsche model type 935.

Anyone know does new Taisan come holepunched?

I got a Taisan body at the first re-re action of Mr.T (i think two or three years ago) and that body didn't had any holes in it.

Where are they? Unless they have all bee sold already?

I'm lucky, since i bought two bodies from the first listing. I wonder how many bodies Jason has. Just as the R33 Skyline you see that even long after the first listing new bodies turning up occasionally.

  2. Well, it looks like Jason got a lot the bodysets that were announced here earlier: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=62901

Maby the wheelbase of this car is the reason for it not allready been re-released on some kind of chassis. I'm waiting for the R33 Loctite Skyline also to be released on some kind of touring car chassis too.

Looking at re-re bodies there is no straight line i think.

The Alfa Romeo 155 V6TI (again) is a limited re-released bodyset (for the 2nd or 3rd time if i'm correct). The R91CP body was only released once after the original kit and is never seen again. It's the GT2 Porsche's 2nd time. The thing is that none of these bodies can be found on a TT or TB chassis.

The Volvo 850 was a slightly different story. That was limited event part and soon after that the body set was in production as a "Hop-Up", but still not on a chassis.

Looking at the Castrol Civic you see that it was a limted release a few years back and now it's on the FF03 chassis.

Who tells us what the future holds

  3. Hi there,

Thought this may be interesting in the re-re area. Found this information this evening on Tamiya Japan: http://www.tamiya.com/japan/cms/newstopics/1251-gallery.html

Scroll down and you can see what i mean. Google translates:

Sales Corner Special Limited Edition is a must enjoy!

  4. Hi there,

I was wondering how rare the Tamiya C.P.R. unit is? You know the receiver and ESC in one. The unit was made by Futaba for Tamiya and was released somewere around 1987, type: CPR-P100F. Later the C.P.R. unit was changed into the CPR-P160F with the gold heatsink.

When i looked the Tamiya RC 30 years Perfect album it tells me that the release year of the CPR-P160F unit was 1993. When i looked at the Tamiya cars in that same book, the last car that was photographed with the CPR-P160F unit instaled, was the 58300-ABT Audi TT-R. This car was released in 2002.

All this info tells me that Tamiya sold/used/produced the CPR-P160F unit for almost 10 years. Nowdays the unit is only found at a certain Ebay Seller form Hong-Kong. He sells them for big money.

How on earth is it possible, that the CPR-P160F unit, that was sold for allmost 10 years is found nowhere? Also the Adscpec transmitter systems are very rare.

Please help me with your thoughts.

  5. When you look very closely at picture 2 on website of the 1:1 Sand Scorcher buggy (http://bugbox.skynetblogs.be/), you can see the prototype body has chrome mirrors and a chrome VW badge. You can also see the screws for the clip that holds the body to the chassis, so no worries for a "plastic" chassis. The windows are very clear, so the SS will be fitted with its own driver. It does look like the nose cone is "intergrated" in the body rather than it is a seperate part.

Lets wait and see if the prototype body will be different ones the SS will be re-released. The body on Bugbox still is a prototype, so Tamiya can still redesign the body.

  6. Splitting an Avante is a bad choice in my opinion. I have sold many Avante parts in the past. Most parts won't sell at all, because they can be bought everywhere. Other parts are rare like the Ball ends etc. You have to make a lot of money to get the same price for the rare parts to cover the price you will get when you sell the car in one piece.

There aren't many runner Avantes around so if people buy parts, they will buy new parts sooner because they are restoring there car.

PS- I've send you a PM

  7. It's also nice to search for the turning point. Some people get interested when you're running withg a very scale like model. You know with headlights, driver, steering wheel etc etc. The overall comment is positive and serious and most of them are interested in the looks. The moment you drive with a MFC-Unit people start to have doubts about your mentel health <_<

    Other example:

People make fun of you and they have the idea you drive 'toy cars' and ask for the speed and costs. You respond to the 'how fast' and 'how much' question with the story you drive races and the cars reach speeds up to 80km/h. The costs for one year racing is about 1500 euro's (nevermind this amount please), people become serious again.

I think most remarks are based on ignorance. You can't blaim them. Who would understand the fact that we stick oure noses in a vintage NIB kit or vintage guide book just to sniff up the Tamiya smell :P

  8. My experiences with 'the public' are comments like: "How fast can it go" and "How much does it cost??". The general public only seems to be interested in speed and costs. The moment you tell them that you are a RC collector that collects old RC cars from a certain Japanese brand most of them get interested. The moment you tell them how much, for instance, the restoration of a Bruiser costs they think you are mad

  9. The white shell is the rarest of the MB shells. Both kit and spare body parts were released with white shells in the first year or so. The red body was the later body for the kit and spare body set. It was easier to finish. I have seen a dozen MB's now and all of them had a red shell. I have bought a NIB body part set a few weeks ago which was white.

The MB on TamiyaRC which is for sale on ebay also has the red body.

    Bruiser

    Hilux

    Hot Shot 2

    Monster Beetle

Mazda 787B (is nog een optie)

  11. You Know You're A Tamiya Addict When..

You keep telling your girlfriend that this car is the last one and you will sell some cars later on...NOT :(

The mailman's smile gets bigger every time he leaves a parcel at your door from Japan.

Paypal starts an investigation on your payment behavior.

The bank sends you a letter in which they ask me to make an appointment to talk about my creditcard use ( i just can't tell the guys i use there services just to buy RC cars ) :)

My girlfriend hasn't got any room to store the laundry.

  12. In my opinion these are guys who were collecting kits long before TC was online. You know, the time you could buy a NIB 959 for 400 euro's ;)

At one moment they had seen all of those tamiya lovers here at TC and the made the choice to show off there collection to the public. Maby these guys are not that willing to share there stories.

I also think it is nice to read stories about loft finds, garage sales and fleemarkets. But if these guys are collecting for over 15 years now, maby there just isn't much to say about there kits. This will also explain why all those rare NIB kits show up, but none of us have seen them up for sale anywhere lately. You can't tell me that Mr HK has bought all of those kits in one week. If so, WHERE IS THAT STORE!!!! :)

  13. Mr.Nismo...if you Sell a lot of stuff on ebay and have no means of proof of spending it...you could be liable for tax on it.You would need to prove that you`re selling the stuff to fund buying more, rather than looking like you`re selling it for profit. If you have receipts for the parts you`ve bought, then they can offset it against the amount you`ve earned on RC items.

From my paypal and Mastercard accounts they can see how much i have spend. I can tell you that i have spend more than i have received during this three years, but on many parts i have bought i didn't had to pay tax. Is there an option they can claim tax after i have bought and payed all of my items? They can take my paypal receipts as an indication about how much tax i should have payed. On the other hand, isn't a case for customs to let me pay tax when an item comes in?

  14. From the UK to the Netherlands,

Up to 1 month, depending the mood of the custom guys and seller ;)

Last standing record ( hope it does not get improved ) ,

2 1/2 month from the USA.. , that was airmail btw!

Just recently found out that i am on the blacklist in the Netherlands at the custom guys,

affraid i bought a bit to much from Stella & Jason.

I am marked "merciant" , so all my parcels are now checked and hold.

( some sort of punishment )

Already found a way around it, for ovious reasons.. not mentioned online ,

but it took me about 1/2 a year to figur it out, that i was blacklisted that is.

As , the officials refused to give me a explination of any form.

    Dispite many phonecall's

So, this is also a warning for fellow Dutch collectors..

YES , a blacklist does excist , and all your parcels ( number , declared ammount, sender ) are recorded

    and stored for further use.

In basic, after a X ammount of imports, all your parcels are hold for checking from that date.

    Stefan

I have bought many cars and parts all over the world the last three years. The last parcels from Jason came in in 4 days, so no trouble for me ;)

I'm getting a bit worried about all of those offical guys. Paypal wants to check on me because i've received a certain amount of money in the last three years on my account. All of those official guys keep an eye on us!! :D

Is there any example known that the tax authorities claim money from poor Tamiya collectors because they buy and sell stuff just to keep there hobby alive?? If you know any, please let me know. :(

PS- 3,5 weeks is the longest period i had to wait for something to arrive. It were decals from the UK.

  15. Hi All

Ive managed to get a rather hopped up ta02, It seems to be all alluminium and it has a flat chassis, (which I dont think is a tamiya one) the one thing its missing is the tamiya ta02 FRP chassis kit, I notice that there is a carbon one etc

Whats needed and where can I get one of these nowadays?

    Cheers

    C

The FRP chassis kit is a rather rare Hop-up option nowdays. Ebay or Tamiyaclub is the best way to find one but there expensive. You can also buy the Carbon chassis plates and buy the plastic parts and screw bags that come with the FRP kit. The plastic parts can be found on ebay sometimes. There is an option to ask your Local Hobby Shop is the screw bags can be ordered at your Tamiya importer. This worked out fine for a friend of mine.

These are all the Tamiya part numbers that are included in Hop up option 53166:

    4025040 - Lower deck (FRP)

    4025041 - Upper deck (FRP)

    0005512 - D parts (D1 - D7)

    0115177 - J parts (J1 - J15)*

    9406055 - Tool bag*

    9406057 - Metal parts bag

    9465479 - Screw bag*

The parts noted with * are a must have to combine with carbon chassis plates to fully fit on your TA02 chassis.

    Good luck!

  16. The Bruiser indeed is capable shifting gears when driving. Problem is the wear you will get on the brass rings with the gears on the inside that shift from on gear to the other. In this shifting motion the rings are forced on the moving gears. The springs on the shift arms inside the gearbox are used to moderate this force. Sometimes when you shift while driving you can hear the gears crunch. It's just like when you don't shift your 1:1 car in reverse properly.

In the old days the recommended radio gear was a 4 channel transmitter using the shift gate. In the promo movie for the Bruiser it shows "You can shift gears while running." It's indeed obvious it is not very good for the gears in a long term. When you only drive your 3-speed once in a while the wear isn't that bad.

In the modern 3-speeds (and trucks) Tamiya uses clutches to let the gears shift properly while running.

PS-Using a good lubricant in the gearbox also helps bringing down noises, wear and will increase better shifting while running.

  17. Hi,

I'm looking for a repro Hi-Lux rear bumper. I have seen a Hi-Lux in someones showroom wich sayed he had installed a repro rear bumper. In my opinion the rear bumper was just as the original one, so not any aluminium sellf made "thing".

Yesterday i have searched the whole TC area to find out who it was, but with no succes.

I hope you guys can tell me if there is someone who sells these bumpers.

    Thanks
