  1. Is a problem I found in the Buggy Champ, the rear torsionbars are very soft as well as the front springs. I think they wanted fix the problem of the lacking of suspension in the rear and went to worst. Anyway that is easily fixed and the whole will look again as an off road. I insist friend on what I said 20 pages above, if you want a vintage then buy a vintage, this is a new one and sincerely I liked they would go beyond and get for us a new body as I did http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=94019 Anyway is a new kit and gives us the opportunity to build something relatively different, and always is the advantage to get new exhauts, rearviews, windows, white bodies for MB projects....etc. I think that all about modelling is to have fun, building, running if RC and have fun and perhaps we are coming more collectors than modelers enjoying their free time. I have been modelling since 40 years now and of course some extra time in my childhood. I built more than 1000 kits, however I don't have more than 40-50 of all them including RC and static, just take a look to my showroom here and there around and will realize that. I like boxes and some of them deserve to rest unbuilt, but modelling means to be building. My point is that: if you are looking a vintage to collect and keep unbuilt forever, then go on for a vintage, I have seen prices decreasing lately, this is new to open and build as is or modified. Thanks for reading!!!!!
  2. I'm happy you had got your money back. Lately I let to go good cheap kits in eBay in favour of TC members, as the questions I made, just to have an idea who was in the other side, were shortly answered and very delayed. I have limited my purchases to very well know people, here and ebay, unfortunately good paid for bad. Thanks for letting us know about this, was very useful.
  3. I read the thread and the answer of CTY300 gave you and it made me sick , really. I have been buying out of my country since 1982, in fact my first order was to Towerhobbies by phone. Since then I have seen any kind of perverse guys selling, but the worst I saw were in ebay. I have had some bad email exchange with this guy also, and my answer is NOT to buy anymore, nor excuses neither exceptions, thanks God he blocked you, always you could buy from him by mistake LOL. You should have received a full body, and this guy is a ******* just for the answer he gave you, sorry I don't use to have these kind of expressions but can't controlate myself remembering bad things have happened in ebay. Of course the feedback doesn't care him, never does for immoral people. My best advice, leave this dirty thing behind and follow enjoying modelling; lately I use to do that, I have lost some money but got a lot of health for myself Good luck
  4. I was involved with the SS since 1982, in the last 10 years I have restored many chassis and even got a NIB from a friend of mine, so here my 2c opinion. -Maybe the new body will be a MB/BB white with short nose......... maybe not, anyway which is the problem, most of the SS here lately have been deeply modified. If you are looking an original then should get and original from 1980, this is a reissue and could be different in some way. -The chassis will be the Buggy Champ one for sure, why not if they have all the parts. -Those that said will not buy the kit if have changes......... will finish buying 4 or more LOL LOL -I was asking myself why to have the same, wouldn't it better to have something different?, always you can get an old body, all us have one in one way or other. I wish the new SS would have a new more modern body, keeping the main central section with new fenders and bonnet... etc. I mean as there are people looking exactly the same, others like me that have seen many SS would like something different. -Finally I think that Tamiya didn't grow up making big mistakes ( although I saw few that..... smell LOL) if they make the 2010 SS in one way, surely will be the best for the whole. Thanks for reading
  5. Although moulds would have been destroyed, Tamiya have all the draws and the technical potential to make new ones in several days with the new tolling machines. So I guess is just a market question to do or not to do a reissue. What it's true, I think, is the fact that the vintage time are coming to the end. All the old kits could be reissued, less perhaps the ones like the Wild Willy and others already were done in a new shape. However lately I saw several Blazing Blazer and other rare NIB to be offered, and made me remember the first months of this year when lots of SS NIB were on sell. Who knows!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. I bought a Sand Scorcher NIB early in 1982 and the radio box were absolutely transparent and no yellowed, as well as the windows. The ABS turns yellow with the past of the time. New are made of PC or PS, and I'm sure will not come so yellow in the future.
  8. Well as many times happens, people don't read the full context of the post, or my English is not good enough to share my feeling, probably both of them. 1) I don't mean that the market shouldn't be free, just we shouldn't buy those parts which have an abusive price, I was sharing my thinking. 2) I perfectly understand that a spare sold in Japan will cost probably less than USA or even sold en HK cheaper than Japan. Also many times I consider the shipping matter before to make an order, so there are reasonable differences. I have spent a little fortune in vintage and never claimed about. 3) Absolutely I'm not talking about VINTAGE, of course if you have a rare and vintage part obviously will be expensive. I have paid spares for old 3 speed a lot of money and I'm not claiming about. Also I agree that when a NIB is broken nobody knows the right price of the parts. However if you buy 30 radio boxes to $12 you know how much they value. 4)It's not necessary to show I had asked US$19 more for a Buggy Champ body ( in the time I was asked for 60), then became cheapest in eBay, I forgot to delete it, but to mention it is ABSOLUTELY unpleasant, and unnecessary. I didn't mention names or links to other people. 5)That's all other thinking for the pile, there is not necessary to be nervous about LOL.
  9. Really do we want to be paying abusive prices?, I don't think so. What I have seen lately confirmed that some people are having an abusive behavior, thanks our passion for the vintage. Jason has sold a lot of Buggy Champ pieces to a lower value, that's not true just is the right value. I have bought a full radio box for the SRB to US$12, and have seen orders of 20 and 30 pieces. Curiously one day after that the parts inundated eBay to US$30-40 besides the ones already were at 50-65, probably taken from NIB kits. Other example: I have bought lower arms for the Buggy champ, US$9 pair, other auction US$35, hey man!!!! this is not vintage anymore! My answer to this abusive behavior IS NOT TO BUY parts anymore that can be ordered cheap. Any seller at Japan that sell spares ( there are many) will sell the parts cheap, probably is easier to buy from Jason, but if he doesn't have stock, then go to other source. It's not possible a guy is paying US$65 ( or 75 I have seen) for a new manufactured part that cost US$10. Please note that I'm not talking about vintage, I'm talking about NEW parts from RE-RE kits that are being sold as vintage, abusing of unaware buyers.
  10. I'm looking for a Sand Scorcher nose ( or Monster beetle) it hasn't to be new. Paypal ready Thanks!
  11. I'm looking for a spare for my runner sand scorcher as I broke the front lower arm right. Paypal or trade. Thanks!
  12. The XLT never was a best-seller as the others in the series, however US$1100 looks a reasonable price, although have in account that the re-re is coming. Anyway the old kit always will be valuable.
  13. I agree, what we probably will see in reissues will be FAV, SS and SC, as loaded says the wheels and other main parts are cast and the plastic will be cheap to make. Wild one follows as is more or less a FAV, but I don't think we will have all them together. I also agree that an old 3 speed is far of the reality. The highlift Hilux covered the space.
  14. In fact they did it when issued the Avante 2001. The Avante was developed for competition ( and failed at all) and the 2001 was more to play in the garden so I think we could expect a Avante 2001 in some time in the future.
  15. Well well, I hear the same when people said the Rough River never, never, never, never would be reissued ( I was one of them ), please read my post again. Bigger Japanese sellers couldn't get the first batch of Buggy Champ, orders overloaded production and be sure the kits aren't in the shelfs. Stella models have sold out the kit!!!!!, waiting probably a 3rd batch. These guy ( Tamiya boys) get more money with this than the Baldre or other "First line last technology" buggies. Friends we are talking about a TOY, this is not high competition, 50 guys drive their cars to get a price and 20.000 just build / play with the RC model kits. The origin of the reissue was not to satisfy us, if you have the molds, diagrams and injectors..... just get plastic and begin to cast kits, you don't have to recover the investment because already is amortized. Summing up my thinking..... more global crisis, more reissues we will see
  16. Brian, please read again my post and will find some answers, kits come from Japan and information also come from there, of course. About old Vs. new kits. Few days ago I bought an NIB Superchamp, it was not in good shape but I could afford it. Always the old kits will be valuables, even if we have a “buggy Sorcher” or whatever the old Sand Scorcher will have a high value for collectors, perhaps more than before. A Rough Rider cost US$1500 five years ago and 3000 later in 2008, if one didn’t have 3000 in the wallet, then never would have a RR. The reissue let us to have few of them, but the true collector still will look for the old version, an original version. However if I had to buy a RR, I would wait the prices fall, and this is happening now.
  17. Talking about the SRB chassis: my thinking is that they will do the reissue in the order they did in the past. The Buggy Champ chassis have all the holes to place a Superchamp. I think that the Scorcher was going to be offered in November, but sales of the Buggy Champ were so good that Tamiya are going for the 3rd batch, and perhaps is good idea ( for them) to keep up the interest in the BC until the next year. The barrier of the white metal cars has fallen, so any old kit could be reissued, the Fast Attack is for sure in the list, as well as many others, even a Blazing Blazer. Some people have good information, this is clear because Tamiya announce with months in advance the new kits. Just go to eBay and take a look which NIBs are being sold and you will realize which ones will be reissued. Last but not least, the vintage market that Tamiya showed to ignore during years it has converted in the lifeboat of them. Probably they will make more money with the Buggy Champ than a new car, more when Tamiya have to compete with new and old manufacturers ( and Chinese) which are offering good new kits. Most of the people rc-vintage-related are buying an average of 3 kits, without in account the amount of parts they will sell during the next years, for the new and old versions.
  18. That's right Swarm............... I will buy 3 of them, doens't make sense to buy just one.
  19. I'm interested in few SRB diff, could you lete me know when you have to sell them, thanks!
  20. I'm after a blitzer body, unpainted, and complete for a project. I can paypal the payment or trade ( look my traderoom ) Thanks
  21. That's absolutely true. Tamiya never though to release the old white metal cast kits, however the crisis made they need incomes whitout the big investment a new kit needs. Retooling old mould is cheaper than to make new ones. Next ones will be probably the whole SRB series, including the SuperChamp and Ford XLT, is the Sand Scorcher the next?, I'm sure now.

  24. Andy: The Hummer tires works perfectly, there are in ebay from JR.RC right now, also the Pajero ones but they are little small and the new Hilux also fit. You must to use the original plastic inserts in other way the wheels will not fit properly. The bumpers are provived as repro in ebay and TC, look for them James Sourbeck makes them. Are you looking for the black plastic hub caps? I have 4 repros, the last ones I kkep for myself if you can't find them ask me. Also the driver can be got as repro. Good luck
