  1. Hi. As a long time Manta Ray fan and owner i have the following recommendations. Important: Full ball bearings in the car. If you run anything more than a Sport Tuned motor you need a ball diff in the rear gearbox. This prevents your gears from stripping too easily. Upgraded propshaft, 53079, same as the Top Force uses. An ESC of course Nice upgrades: The one way bearing, 53071, Torque splitter set. This makes the car more fun to drive and gives you lots of oversteer. The adjustable upper arm set gives you a little tuning possebilities Everybody recommends the alu motor mount, but my standard motor mount never broke and I used to run a 12x2 motor. Cheers Lars

  4. Hmm.. I thought you british loved your Lotus. Best thing to come out of your country since football []
  5. Hi. Anyone know if anyone has made a 1:10 Lotus Esprit, preferably the Giugiaro design. A shame that Tamiya never made one I think. Its a true classic supercar. I really love these cars and would love to have one in RC form. Also, anyone got a tip for the BBS wheels that was standard on these Esprits? regards, Lars
  6. Hi. I have a 5.5r myself and my guess is the 4.5r will kill your Vanquish. With that kind of power you will be on the search for new parts more often than you would like, and the parts for the Vanquish are rare and expensive. I have an Avante 2001 myself and after running it with a 12x2 once I have decided not to put anything more than a 19 turn in it. But this is just my opinion, maybe your Vanquish and driving style can handle the 4.5 without problems, I just now that my Avante 2001 did not. Also an on-road car can put the power down more efficient than an off-road car, meaning you can use hotter motors in an on-road car. regards Lars
  7. I run, or intend to run, almost all my Tamiyas. The only exeption so far is a shelfqueen Hotshot and a original newbuilt Top Force. I remove the msc in my runners and usually put in a Tamiya esc. Among the cars I have run lately is an Avante 2001, Nissan King Cab, Dyna Storm and a Fox. Actually broke a front wheel on my Fox just some days ago []
  8. I'd say the best performing Tamiya buggy you can buy now is the Top Force re-re. Just put in some ballbearings and it's up for any challenge. I used to run a 12x2 in mine and didn't even have to change the motor-mount once. That said I don't think its better then a Losi XX4, or XXX4. I just bought a brand new XX4 worlds edition, just love that car. But if I was gonna race a Tamiya buggy tomorrow, I would race a Top Force. just my opinion Lars
  9. Hi. I have never though about it before, but looking at some Terra Scorcher bodies it struck me. Are they the same as Dirt Trasher? Without the wing ofcourse. cheers, Lars
  10. Hi. Thought I'd introduce myself to the club. Have been a "silent member" for a little over a year, and I think it is time to become a little more active, and start my showroom. I'm from Norway, but I hope my english is ok. This club is great and tamiyaclub is the reason why I got into Tamiya and RC again after many years. My first introduction to Tamiya when I was a kid was my friends Boomerang. I thought it was a great car and pretty fast with a Technigold motor. The following xmas I got my first Tamiya, witch was a Manta Ray. What a great car. I drove it to death, then bought a Top Force. I loved my Top Force, the best performing Tamiya buggy I think. Also had several other Tamiya cars over the years. A Boomerang, Bigwig, Monster Beetle to name some of them. Remember I used sit for hours and study the Tamiya catalogue and just look all the lovely cars. I guess I'm to young to really appriciate the SRB's and 3-speeds, its the Hotshot to Top Force evo era that facinates me most. Later I sold it all and bought a Losi JRX Pro-SE, witch I still own. I really like the Losi cars, and when I started my Tamiya collecting I decided to buy some of the Losis I remeber wanting also. Now I have been collecting for a little over a year. My goal is not to have all the tamiya models, I just focus on getting the cars I wanted as a kid and the cars I like now. I also love to see these beautiful cars run, so almost all my cars will be runners. My only vintage NIB is a Vanquish, witch was my first Ebay purchase. Think I will keep it NIB, but I'm looking for a runner. During my first year I have gotten quite a few of the cars on my wanted-list, some highlights: The King Cab, Avante 2001 and the Top Force, but there still are many cars left. I will be updating my showroom with all my cars. So thank you tamiyaclub for bringing back all the fond memories. I have found this club to be a very helpful and friendly place. Thanks for your time Lars
  11. Hi. Looks to me like this kit is getting hard to find. Does Tamiya have delivery problems or what is happening? I hope this kit is not discontinued allready? -Lars
