  1. My vote goes to bearings and oil shocks. (oil shocks allow the Pumpkin to handle much better!)
  2. quote:Our loved ones would not understand why we need so many toys !id="quote">id="quote">Well in this case I must be very lucky![] as my other half is happy to let me have my models![8D] Altho I do have to build and keep them in there room as MY sanity would be at risk if I was to let just one grub screw enter the living room! (beleive me she went potty when she saw my Midnight Pumpkin in bits all over her nice clean carpet!)[:0] Back on topic! I tend to keep all the boxes but throw out old trees and bags (but not bag headers) then I (carefully!) use my scalpel to open up the boxes and store them in large "art folders" that you can get in WH Smith And the like!
  3. I would go for A king blackfoot Rather than the Blackfoot extreme! the KBF is now discontinued so you would be buying a (one day) little piece of Tamiya history! It keeps with the original blackfoot theme by useing the same frame! With ball races oil shocks nice 17T motor and the steering mod (see other posts about this) you will have a nice fast 2wd off roader! The gearbox is tuff as old boots! it can really handle mad motors! altho Parts my become harder to fined as it gets older and the friction shocks are not worth the time to build them! It also Handles like (in stock form) A drunk on A push bike! (go flat out in reverse and you will know what I am on about!)
  4. Glad to hear your back on (or off) the road!
  5. At the moment I have:- 58192 King Blackfoot (well I have two of these! One original shelf queen and one thats turning into something A little bit special!) 58045 Hornet the original! No introduction needid! 58058 Blackfoot this was the first car I ever had! The shell was a Horrid Green when I got it but I have stripped it down and is now awaiting some paint! 58070 Midnight Pumpkin What A car! (C.V.A shocks really transform the handeling!) 44024 Subaru Impreza WRC'99 TG10-MK.1 in rally trim.My only Glow powered car! (Bit of A wolf in sheeps clothing this one. Not as fast as some but boy it is A pleasure to build A glow powered car! 58174 Street Devil Limited Edition A pure shelf queen! Paid through the nose for one n.i.b but was worth every penny! 58252 Biltzer Beetle Chrome Edition Another Limited Edition! Worth it just for those wheels! 58211 Rover Mini Cooper The most fun you can have with front wheel drive! 58295 BMW Mini Cooper Same as the original but slightly longer! 58231 Wild Dagger I fitted two 13T doubles and made some shock towers (so I could fit 4" Shocks) Fast as badword and a brilliant off roader (hate the shell tho! too generic!) 58242 Wild Willy 2 In parts this one. Only god knows what parts I will need to finnish it! 58336 The Hornet The re release.Yhaay! good ol Tamiya! Now just got to get the Grasshopper re release and I am sorted! 58328 Gravel Hound got this one on friday. Going to build it this Sunday And its going to be painted Maranello red!
  6. Cheers Shopkeeper!
  7. My mate says its for the thundershot type cars only but I remember fitting one to my hornet! The instructions for the bodyshell (when they came in those brown "shoe box" type packageing) had a diagram showing you how to fit the shell on to a hornet! Anyone else remember this? Also what about the other "Dragon" bodies? Thunderdragon,Saintdragon etc etc!
  8. Just A quickie Q! How meny bearings do I need For This Model? Thanks in advance!
  9. i use some drivers from hpi. i have no idea what model they are from as i got them from lhs! but i have been unable to find anymore (hpi) drivers from the lhs so internet here i come!
  10. i am so sorry to here of your loss shodog and i really feel and understand your pain of what you (and your family) must be going through as i have lost my dad and my only "true" friend i ever had in this world in such a short space of time due to cancer. i do not know you shodog but i wish you all the best luck in the world. yours dudly
  11. quote:I don't mean this in a bad way at all, I think people should be proud about doing what they enjoy id="quote">id="quote"> i totally agree with your statement mr netsmith but i can also imagine how hard it must be for newbies and old hands alike to be proud of our toys when the whole street recons our tamiya cars are just toys! (not models like i call them!) a quick ex of this is thus: my kit built tamiya crome blitzer beetle is called a "toy" by folk BUT nextdoors traxxas rtr elc rusler even tho its very tempermental ans slow is called a model by the same folk?
  12. i think it all depends on who the person.(and to some extent what make/model/buget they started out with) for me i started out with a crappy black fox[:I] (hay i was young (10) and skint[]) toy! but when i was able to afford a blackfoot i knew this was a "real grown ups" (lol is there such a thing?) truck and people would tell me so..[8D] but now 25 years down the line people (model shops aswell![xx(]) are now telling me too "ditch the tamiya toys and get a real mans kit like hpi or a cen or even a traxxas![]" (each to there own i guess) but what really gets up my nose is when i get some kid come up to me and say something like " my dad/brother/sister got a tyco/nikko/whatever and he/she car is faster! even worse is when im out useing my tg10m1 and i get "ohh is that a petrol(wrong!)car? or your car is really great and it go's really fast! what make is it?" and you tell them its a tamiya and they turn round and say things like "what a load of **** my granny walks faster"!(why? is she fitted with a 18 block and tuned pipe? lol) so to sum up i would say back in the day tamiyas were (and still are in some respect) top class r/c models its just that people are being brainwashed buy ripoff model shops just out to make a fast buck (tlo1 kit on its own sir? that will be £190[:0][:0]! your 9yr old son would be better off with a savage sir!! major[][] at bed time when it all go's wrong and the model shop cannot fix it! beleve me i have seen this meny, meny times!)mixed in with untrue rumors spred buy kids/mothers/dads/brothers/people who snapped a driveshaft after smaking at full speed into a kurb and automaticlly asume all tamiyas are **** cos they break! and have no willingness/brains to learn about rc models let alone shop around for cheaper deals!
  13. a very nice find![^] hope you have lots of fun with it![] (i know i do with mine![])
  14. i guess the fuel in question is the model technics glow fuel qwikfire 10% pullstart? rather tham the model technics glow fuel qwikspeed 10? or even the model technics glow fuel duraglo 10%? what about the model technics glow fuel dynaglo 10%? so meny of em at 10%!
  15. looks like "old blue eyes" is back!
