Anybody paint a Metallic midnight pumpkin?
whale22 replied to whale22's topic in General discussions
I did paint it in the end. I went with Tamiya metallic blue. Put on 3 coats and then covered with two coats of a matte clear coat. You can still see the metal flake but it's not too shiny. I'll post some pics. I also added the Tamiya cva dampers. Those make the car very driveable with the stock motor. Probably going to go to a torque tuned or sport tuned for a little more pop. It's a really fun RC to drive!!!! -
Thanks!!!! This setup >> than my ESC with the super stock BZ I imagine? This is exactly what I needed....the links. One last thing...do you use Tamiya connectors so they work with the ESC?
-
Maybe I'll stick with stock!

Alfagta: can you let me know what exact motor and batteries/charger you're runnung? Links or model numbers are appreciated!

I was going to run this ESC: http://www.hobbywing.com/product_show.asp?id=300 With a super stock BZ or the HPI 15T. I Own those but if I could manage the brushless that would be the most efficient I guess.

Hey. Thanks. I would like to foray into brushless. The 13.5t turnigy sensored would work and everyone seems to like it. Is soldering on the leads easy? Do they come with the motor or do I buy them? Apologies for the goofy questions. I'll have a look on YouTube I reckon.

Thanks Greg. Good point. I have to admit, 98% of the fun for me is tinkering with these and seeing how fast I can make it to the oak tree and back. Carbon stays and the like are just ways for me to spend money. I should go to LiPo and brushless because that'd sure help. I do wish there was a track around here.... Greg: can you please post a link for that pinion.

Hi all- Hi all...I'm Off my feet of late because of an indoor soccer injury so have been building tamiyas!. I just completed my midnight pumpkin and ordered a DT-03 for $130 USD off of Amazon. It's shipping from Japan. I'm going to put ball bearings in it of course. Are these kits still shipping with the CVA dampers and torque tuned motos as stock? If not then I'll certainly need the oil filled dampers. I have a HPI 15T thunderbolt and compatible esc as well as a tamiya 23t super stock bz on my bench. Will the super stock be too much for the tale-02s? I also like the looks of the carbon shock stays but don't know I'd there's a point to that. Dt-02 aluminum motor plate? Stabilizer set? I run 5000 mAh NiMH batteries with Tamiya connectors. I suppose I could grab a 13.5T sensored brushless motor but I do not really know how to solder on the leads... Right now I like the idea of the torque tuned in the Pumpkin and super stock in the DT-03. Other than bearings...is there anything I should have? Thanks in advance and don't ever dislocate your patella!

Yeah. I might just pick up a black shell and go that route. Want a plain solid color. Cheers. -

What motor are you running? Super stock BZ? -
I imagine a light sanding with high grit paper then a few coats of spray paint? Anybody have success or suggestions? Cheers!

Tamiya TBLE-02 Brushed or Brushless ESC came with Midnight Pumpkin
whale22 replied to whale22's topic in General discussions
Thanks Gents. Great advice. I'll grab one of the 13.5t motors and give it a go. -
HI All- I ordered a Midnight Pumpkin "just for fun" and opened it this morning and was somewhat surprised to see it came with the TBLE-02 ESC. The only "upgrades" I was going to add to it were a Sport Tuned and some oil filled dampers. Now I am wondering what the best use (if any) is for this ESC. The reason why I ask is that I have two other basher buggies: Tamiya Hornet (Stock ESC and Sport Tuned) and a DF-02 Rising Storm (Stock ESC and GT Tuned). Both of the buggies are ball raced and the DF-02 has some aluminum hop-ups including the drive shaft. I'm 40 and pretty much my RC knowledge stalled in 1991 and that's fine with me Question: In the spirit of speed and fun would it be worth moving my current ESC and GT Tuned motor from the Rising Storm into the Midnight Pumpkin and using the TBLE-02 with a brushless motor in the Rising Storm as it is the most "modern buggy" I own. I run 5000 mAh 7.2 V 6 cell NiMH batteries with the Tamiya connector and don't really want to go LiPo. Is this even worth it? What brushless motor would you suggest, if any? http://www.amazon.com/Tamiya-54252-000-tamiya/dp/B003ULOMBO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1412516391&sr=8-2&keywords=TBLM+tamiya Cheers!

DB01, Durga, Baldre, -R, -RR owners/racers - check this...

I always buy Tamiya stuff. Can't say why I'm so loyal. But I don't race so I'm happy seeing if I can make it to the end and back of my yard in 3 fewer seconds after buying a bunch of useless upgrades. -
I didn't see a frog? How can that be?

Servo reversing? Who knew? Rising storm drove great until the servo saver stripped. Ordered a metal one...

Hi all, Bound the receiver just fine but when I steer right the front wheels turn left. I don't think anything is reversed. Advice?

TT-01 aluminum drive shaft and cups in Df02?

Speedy- The Tamiya part number you suggested worked perfectly with the kit drive cups! Rising Storm is almost done! -

OK...fiddled a bit and have a third shock in there! Gotta learn how to post pics or create a showroom but it was a bit less bouncy. I had to do through the gearbox behind the shaft and through the plastic bridge where the crystal used to mount. Came out pretty good... -

Not sure about the Junfac being an issue since when the shocks are off the buggy I feel like I can compress them and they expand in slow motion. I'll take 'em apart and do a rebuild this weekend. The duratrax shocks are def too strong for that buggy though. I love that car and bought it to recapture by teens but I sure am looking forward to my rising storm. -

I have the little tiny springs in there. Not sure what the issue is. Should I try heavier oil than the one that came with the buggy? I'll try the third shock mod this weekend. -

Thanks. I bought another gearbox and can try this with my multi-tool. Then I could simply mount the shock to the exposed axle, correct? I'm confident I can do this but what I haven't looked at in detail is whether or not that would provide an entry way for dirt to get into the gearbox? I guess I can always fill it with silicone caulk. I have become increasingly annoyed with how this car handles, and as such, am building a rising storm. It's got a wide base, double wishbone, and is low to the ground. I had a dirt thrasher, which I loved, but sold it like a dope when I was in a smaller apartment with nowhere to store/drive it. I do have the black collars on the hornet dampers but I swear I can compress the shocks in my hand and they don't even expand. When they're on the buggy I can press down on the chassis and they just sag. Hence the duratrax shocks but they seem too stiff. -

My gearbox lacks that lip to attach the bottom of the third shock. Rats.
