  1. Hi-

I picked up one of these for my neo fighter buggy. Piece of cake to assemble once I got the balls in the holes. A few questions: How much grease? How tight? Anything else I need to be in the lookout for before it goes in the gearbox? It seems to be a open and exposed unit. I have the DF-02 universals to replace the kit dog bones.

  2. Thanks...I ended up dropping in a Hobbywing QUICRUN 1060 brushed and a HPI thunderbolt 15T brushed motor in my Pumpkin. I run it with 5000 mAh NiMH. I get about 30 minutes per pack and the sucker screams with this set-up.

I'm running it with the standard 10T pinion but *could* move over to a 12T pinion as I have an adjustable motor mount. That idea has been met with skepticism on this board.

The QUICRUN 1060 was $22 USD delivered and by far the EASIEST ESC I ever installed. The jumpers are sooo much better than the beeping game Tamiya has us play. It even has a LiPo cut-off. Good stuff.

  3. VIVEACE MART. I've got some 3rd party dampers (90mm and 70mm) coming and and have ordered one of those Leopard brushless combos (10t). 380 motor in a 540 heat sink from what I can tell. Carbon damper stays, aluminum servo mount, aluminum motor mount, aluminum servo saver and battery bar are all on the way. Anything else I missed? Any point in the DT-02 ball differential? I'm going to make my first foray to the open hours at the local track and don't want to be too embarrassed. 😀

My DF02 rising storm is just too slow. I've got the stock esc with a GT Tuned 25T. It's ballraced, has an alloy motor mount and has the alloy driveshaft. I also have the 70T spur gear and stock pinion.

I was going to pair this with:

  6. Hi-

I have the hobbywing quicrun 1060 as well. I've been getting back into the hobby due to a recent knee injury. I usually run pure Tamiya but if it doesn't make sense it doesn't make sense. I have a DT03 kit in the mail and was planning running a super Stock BZ in that with the quicrun and moving the torque tuned into the pumpkin. But maybe a brushless motor as has been discussed in other threads is the way to go. I'm getting read to get some 4000 mah lipos with tamiya connectors as I don't solder...yet.

When you say the quicrun is "lipo friendly" what do you mean? I was planning on getting a low volatage alarm thingy.

  7. Oops! I do have the front brace running from shock tower to shock tower. Forgot to mention that. What ESC are you running that can manage the 20T photon speed? I have a new kit with the TBLE-02S and Tamiya says that's rated down to 25T. I tend not too violate these rules but if it's OK then maybe I'm only jeopardizing a $30 part? I actually have a new photon speed sitting in a drawer. I've got a super stock BZ in the mail but I think that's headed for my DT03 and was going to put the torque tuned in the MP.

  8. Hi All-

Spent the day driving my MP and it is by far my favorite RC. It's got a new Mabuchi 540RS, full ball bearings and the Tamiya CVA dampers with 30 wt oil. Granted I drive mostly on grass and the ground clearance seems to help but this car handles and corners Better than my Hornet with sport tuned and third shock in the back. That car is a missile but very hard to control and flips like crazy. Maybe I need to learn to drive it? My other buggy is a DF02 rising storm with GT Tuned. It rides well and does not flip nearly as much as the hornet but I have to say I now know why everyone loves the CW01 chassis. I have a DT03 in the mail so we will see how that one goes.

I might add a torque tuned to the pumpkin but I don't think much more power would be beneficial.

    Just thought I'd share.
