In no particular order: 1. Fox 2. Boomerang 3. Hornet 4. Frog 5. Hotshot 6. Top Force 7. Mini 8. Rough Rider (Re-release Buggy Champ would do) 9. Wild Willy 10. Gold tub RC10 My top 10 would change regularly as I see different models or as new ones are released. The only one that would not change is the Fox as it was the first Tamiya that I owned as a kid.

The main club site has repro decals for sale in the shop. I have been considering them myself as they are printed on clear.

If you don't like the orange of the Super Hornet wheels you can paint them white (or other colours). It will chip, scratch and possibly flake with use though. If you do paint them I would recommend using polycarbonate paint as it is more flexible but it won't give a high gloss shine. Give the wheels a going over with some fine steel wool first to help the paint key to the plastic.

For running I have access to a 3 acre paddock although it is about an hour away or I just go to the local park. TC member BeetleLover makes a slightly altered body set which I will be using on my still to be finished one, check his trade room on the main site as he may still have some.

$20? Great price. These are fun to get back into running condition. I am just a couple of parts away from getting my second one up and running. Looking forward to seeing it finished and running. The answers to your questions should be able to be answered here as quite a few people have fixed up this buggy.

Tamiya did a 25 Year Perfect Album (1974-2001) as well as a 30 Year Perfect Album (1974-2006). Rad22rad's 25 Year Mark DRC2's 30 Year Both are written in Japanese as they were only made for the Japanese market. If you only want the pictures they are great as they have pictures of all the models released up to the time of publication (including trucks, tanks, planes and boats). I have the 30 year perfect album and am trying to convince my other half to translate it for me, let's just say that it is not going well

These are the optional servos that Tamiya recommends on a flyer with their manuals in the kits. To use these servos you will have to cut off the normal locating tabs and use a mounting plate (part K1 in the kits). This mounting plate is not included in the RTR versions of the GB-01 chassis. Champ were 2940JPY a when I bought my last Tamiya TSU-02.

I did not notice a great deal of speed increase in my DF03 but there was some. Run time decrease was not noticeable. I did replace the ESC at the same time so this may have played a part.

I had forgotten about the Tamiya shop in Tokyo. The four shops on the other link are the ones that I usually go to and have made directions on how to find. The other shops will probably be cheaper than the Tamiya one as they usually sell below the recommended retail price but Tamiya doesn't unless it is on sale. It can be worth while making the trek around the different shops or looking up their web pages as there can be significant differences in price especially if one of the shops is having a sale. Please note that when shopping in Japan most of the staff in the stores will have little or no English (sometimes they may be embarrassed) but if you know the part number they should be able to assist you.

When I am in Tokyo I visit a few different shops. RC Champ (who are a sponsor of Tamiya Club) is where I usually buy most of my kits and parts. I have made up a set of directions for how to find 4 of the more popular shops in Akihabara from the train station which is easily accessible from anywhere in Tokyo. If you would like a copy email me through the club.

It used to drive around near where I live in Brisbane a couple of years ago. Or for QLD, PPQ QLD .... TAMIYA is available.

A good place to look for boy racer bling type wheels are the drift orientated websites. A good one is Genki DoriDori where you can use a number of different currencies but shipping is from Japan.

A white Patrol with NSW plates? If so I have seen it to.

I used a tooth pick to drip some white paint in before I painted the main paint colour.

Would it be possible to get an update on the list?

The kit version does have ball bearings (except for 4x 850's in the rockers for the front suspension). Normal receivers do fit (I am using a Futaba FP-R122JE). Normal servos DO NOT fit. You have to use the Tamiya TSU-02 (which I assume would be in the RTR) or something like a Futaba S3102, Futaba S3101, Sanwa SDX-761, JR NES321 or JR DS362 (as recommended in the instructions as suitable servos) and cut the mounting tabs off and use a special part that is included in the kit. Sorry, I can not answer about the 1:10 ESC as I am using the Tamiya TEU-102 BK which is designed for use in the Tam Tech-Gear series with the smaller 370 sized motor.

The super hornet rear tyres are still a current spare (well 53059 is still listed as current on both the Tamiya USA and Tamiya Japan web shops) so your local hobby shop should be able to order them for you. If it is for a Wildone the rear tyres from a Hotshot have the same pattern as the rears from the Wildone. Stella have some on eBay at the moment.

If you want to keep the disc style wheels you could try the Sand Viper wheels 51261 (SP. 1261) RC Off-Road Dish Wheels Front - 60/19 Sand Viper/Desert Gator 51262 (SP. 1262) RC Off-Road Dish Wheels Rear - 60/29 Sand Viper/Desert Gator These will be grey not black though.
-
The rear tyres - Wide Stud Spike Tires OP-59 (53059) are still a current part and should be available from most Tamiya suppliers (even if they have to order them).

Can Anyone Translate Japanese To English?
bjr250 replied to Hibernaculum's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
I have tried in vain to get my girlfriend to translate the perfect album for me (she does Japanese to English translation for a living at the moment). Every time that I mention it I hear her mutter the words couch and sleep under her breath and I don't want to push my luck . -
You can also get Speed Way Pal from Genki DoriDori. Genki DoriDori

Well I have used filters to replace mine after they went missing. They are cheep and you get heaps in a packet.

This site has a wealth of information about all things mini. rc-mini.net Also worth a look is Grahoo's rally mini site. Mini Rally

The wide stud spike tyres are still a current item so you should be able to get them through your LHS depending on how good they and the SA distributor are with orders.

I use the plastic containers that KFC potato and gravy or coleslaw (the small size) come in. They work well for most buggies as they keep the wheels fairly close to the ground. I also spray them with left over PS paint to match the main body shell colour.
