Hi All.
Just curious wheather you are covered for loss of a R/C stuff.
I have around 40 model cars most vintage and have contents insurance on them.
At our regular vintage meet @ Boondal we were talking and someone said anything over 30 models is classed as a collection and won't be covered.
Any one else have looked into this grey area?????
Mine are covered as a collection up and beyond my normal contents insurance. When we were looking into our household insurance we found that we were under insured and the R/C collection was one of the areas that could be looked at.
It wasn't so much the number of R/C's in my case but how much my insurance company would payout for any given type of item for any claim.
So I had my collection added with a defined (not market) value and it didn't cost any more to do it this way on my policy. I did not have to provide a list of models to the company. This coverage does not include parts or anything not attached to the cars and these are covered under the normal contents part of the policy.
I have seen companies that do base collections on their size (anywhere from 5 to 50) and if they deem the collection to go above this number it will not be covered under general contents.
All insurance companies will work different to guidelines as to what and how they pay out and I recommend to everyone that they check what the company covers and if you think that you need to update your insurance to do so.

tried that, i am a bit confused really unless its interference? only thing ive doe is unplug the motor before I brought it here, i also added a alluminium chasis plate maybe that is causing interference? dont know really maybe aussie crystalls are different - have tried to re set the esc but it wont seem to let me, the red light just keeps flashing with the steering going nuts
I would be looking at the usual suspects.
Interference - try rerouting the receiver wire also don't test inside near big metal objects like fridges or balcony railings.
Bad connections - unplug and re-plug everything back together just to make sure that nothing has come lose.
Rx and Tx crystals swapped
Bad gear - the crystals (or the other radio gear) could be stuffed.
Gear mismatch - I have a Futaba set that just will not work with Acoms crystals and a mate that has the same problem with an Acoms set and Futaba crystals. There is no explanation for this some individual radio sets just won't play with others.
Finally make sure that if your radio is 27MHz that you got 27MHz crystals - we also use 29MHz in Australia.

There are a few of us.
Try Here
There is a biweekly vintage social meet in Brisbane on a track that has a similar layout to the original Tamiya off-road track in Shizuoka.
Your best bet to find out what people are running and where to run is some of the bigger international forums such as R/C Tech? that have an Australian section. The larger places in Australia will have any type of RC driving that you can think of going on at some stage.

Up until recently when I got the Tamiya RC Tool Set with some nut drivers they were all I used for all of my builds and maintenance. I still use them though, just not as much.
Like Mark and 30cms I have drilled one out to go on my keys and it was so handy until I lost it (must do another).

Stop it!
Now I want one

Give in to that little voice. It would go with the Hotshot really well. I hope to get mine rebuilt within the next month or so.
As to price mine was about $200 posted. It is in fairly good condition and complete with the Technipower and original electronics. The body is good without any cracks or gravel rash but there are some paint issues. The wheels are chipped and the tyres are worn about half way down.
When it is rebuilt it will have modern electronics, motor, wheels, tyres and a repro body for running (originals will be used for display).

hi guys I may be over on that side of aus later this year on buisness, I am a pommy with a couple of sand scorchers, a madcap and 2 rc10 b3's can I drop by for a blast? do you guys do this most weekends?
At the moment it usually every second weekend (weather permitting).
Occasionally we have a run on the off weeks as well to make up for one that was missed or on along weekend.
If you do come over you would be most welcome and even if it is an off week there might be some people out running anyway.

By the way, anybody knows anything about the hydraulic shocks I have on my FAV project? Have a look:

You G maybe?

I received a Fox for my birthday in 1986 (I think). I went halves with my parents.
I used to run it around out the front of the house on the "grassed" area near the road and in the gravel driveway.
At a later stage some friends and I also made a bit of a track by using some walking tracks down by the creek where we would have informal races with whatever we had; Hornets, Frogs, Boomerangs and even Jet Hoppers.
When I was a kid it got run and run hard but never abused. The only thing that I broke or lost was some wheel nuts.
It got put away in the cupboard for most of high school and uni but in 2002 I got it back out and cleaned it up and it is still running. I have since broken all of the suspension arms at least once (the plastic is starting to crack around the mounting points) and these have been epoxied up.
The only mods that it has had are a Sport Tuned motor, rear tyres and bearings for the front wheels in 2003, in 2004 it got new radio gear an ESC and the anti sway bar, and this year it got a new drive train as the gears and drive shafts finally decided to wear out.

I won't be out as I am away for another week.

I´m new in this forum, I´m from Spain, and I´m also new in this world. I´ve just buy a old Abarth 1000 tcr berlina corsa bodyshell. I would like to rebuilt it. So I need the orginal decals for this cars. Can anyone help me?
I don't know where you could get the decal sheet from at the moment except maybe from ebay.
The good news is that Tamiya are releasing the body again on the M-05 chassis in June.
After this the body set and decals should be available again.

I spot Abarth parts...

It is being released on the M-05 chassis, kit number 58465.
-
Well it wasn't today, but two days ago (15th) I went to the Shizuoka Hobby Show.
-
Just my 2 cents;
I think the Avante is the only one of the "micro coffee models" they have not released to date, so that seems highly probable. This would be good because they could also they uses those tools to do a Egress relatively easily. That said it does feel like a Fox or Wild One could be on the cards next. I would lean towards the Wild One because it could also mean they could do the FAV.
James.
The Astute has not been done from the coffee cars either (come on Tamiya).
The Fox and the Wild One are the other two that I would personally like to see done.
-
I love all of those mentioned. Grahoo's is my favourite as well but some others worth mentioning are bcollection for the size and scope and Rayman001 especially for the non-hobby grade cars listed.
-
Not so sure I will be first finished Brad, but yes definately a fox run would be awesome.
Good news is I think I have everything to complete the rebuild
I think you will beat me as I currently have all 8 arms broken and I won't get to start to even look at it again until June as we go away to visit the in-laws soon.
It's great that you have all of the bits and I hope that you get it rebuilt so that I can see it get around before I go away. Maybe when I get back we can get Mark and some of the other guys with Foxes to all bring them out on the same day.
-
It will be great to see this running around at Boondall. You should have this up and running before I get mine running again.
When you do we should try to get all of the Foxes out on the same day for a run.

This link for the Insect Cup should work.

Could just mean they're not committed to keeping that as a stock item indefinitely.
interesting that the red tag 53/54xxx aren't "limited edition"...
Wonder if some are more 'limited' than others, like the tags with no printing even.
Gold tags = show specials? but they still turnup outside of shows.
You are probably right, Tamiya may just go on making and selling them until they are no longer profitable.
From my understanding the 53/54xxx part numbers (which also get the OP. designation) were Hop-up Options and the 50/51xxx part numbers were spare parts (SP. designation) and the 49xxx some 92xxx and apparently 84xxx were the limited edition parts.
The others are anomaly especially those that never get any part number.
If Tamiya didn't do these things without explaining all their decisions what else would we have to discuss on the forums

-
Thet are starting to appear. JR had 10 which went very quickly for $32 a piece and shipping of $4 for the first one and $2 thereafter. I note there is no mention of it being a limited edition hop up on the packaging. Does anyone actually know?

The two characters on the top left of the packaging mean limited.
The writing in the red bar says RC limited parts.
Well that is how I read it with my limited Japanese.
-
I had a great day again yesterday.
The insect cup was great fun. Hornet and Grasshopper based chassis with silver cans or sports tuned only.
Here are a few pictures.

-
I won't be out till after one but I will swing by with a couple of buggies after work for a run.
Brad.

The later wheels such as the Super Hornet rims have reinforcing ridges on the inside.
These may foul the drive adapter for the rear wheel. This would then require removing some material from the adapter or removing the circular inner reinforcing ridge from the rear wheels.
-
I have a silver/grey nylon Tamiya Off Roader Trak Pak bag that came with my Fox bundle (kit, battery, charger, Acoms radio and bag) when it was bought new in 1986.
It is the same dimensions as the more common canvas Tamiya RC Bag but did not have the plastic insert to make a small lower section.
I have not seen another one since the late 80's but would like to get hold of another as mine now has several holes and the screen printed logo is very warn.
-
Now that I have thought about it I have quite a few doubles.
2x Fox, one is my original from 1986 and is a runner the second is a shelfer.
2x Hotshot, one original and one re-release. I also have a re-release Boomerang and a Supershot.
2x Wildones, both are runners.
2x Blazing Stars, one is mine and the other "belongs" to the other half. I also have a Top Force Re-release.
2x TT-01E and a TT-01, all with different bodies.
2x CC-01, Pajero and Jeep re-releases.
2x GB-01, Tamtech-Gear Frog and Fox. I also have a GB-02 Buggy Champ, GB-03 Hotshot.
2x GT-01, Porsche 934 and Lamborghini Contach
2x SRB, Re-release Sand Scorcher and Buggy Champ.
For the great majority of the chassis that I have doubles of it is because they are "different" cars and are displayed and run as such. In the case of the Hotshots the original does not get run anywhere as often or as hard as the re-release. I have the second Fox just because I can
.Edit to add:
I forgot about my Frogs and Hornet and Grasshopper
1x re-release and 1x original.
1x re-release Hornet 1x re-release Grasshopper.
Why buy one when you can have two at twice the price?
