  1. Nope, the Bruiser bumper is almost twice as long as the Clod one, and the mounting holes are different. And I won't even mention the obvious color difference...
  2. Well, both the TRF414, the 415 and all the TB Evo cars have done pretty sharp in the world champs, but all of these are worthless without the most important hopup there is, namely a good driver. Since these cars have numerous setup adjustments they also need a mechanic that understands chassis dynamics to perform its best.
  3. The only way that will work is by running the motors in series. But that will lower the performance dramatically. Each motor will only get half the battery voltage. If wired in parallell I would agree with petrolhead.
  4. Not exactly a monster truck, but I want to create a replacement for my xc Pajero. It is meant for slow off road crawling in rock terrain. It will have same tyres as a stock Pajero/Jeep/Hummer ie the 88 mm BFG. This will of course limit the offroad capabilities, but also increase the challenge. I want it to have the close to stock truck look, will probably use a HPI Dodge pickup body for it. I am not able to decide which chassis to go for, but I have thougt of the following: TLT 1 with increased wheelbase. Does it take the BFG wheels? and how is the CG with the battery on top? Wild Dagger chassis with short TL01 suspension. I kind of like the possibility to make it 4 wheel steer, but how is the twin motor layout in rough terrain, doesnt it act like a sort of open center diff? Btw I plan to lock both front and rear diff to get max traction. TL 01 like that stadium "thing" (dont remember what it is called). It will need some sort of extra low gear, and it will be difficult to make 4 wheel steer? Any other ideas will be appeciated (Tamiya of course).
  5. The Clod also has a terribly wrong steering geometry known as "Ackermann angle". The inner wheel is suppose to turn more than the outside one, but the clod does the opposite. I believe I saw a kit to correct this somewhere, but dont remember where.
  6. New to this forum, but far from new to the hobby of collecting tamiyas, I am about to finish my newbought 190E on a rebuilt TA01 chassis. Beeing a Mercedes enthusiast(that sounds like a magazine title[] also, I bought the new TT01 190E as soon as I discovered it was made. However I never really liked the TT01, so I collected some old TA01 bits and a spare Top Force FRP chassis complete with the ball bearing steering and everything for it. I also dusted off an old 190E Cocpit set, I have had lying around for ages, so I was pretty disappointed when I realized that Tamiya only supplied window decals for the new kit, and no maskings. Ok yesterday I took out the masking tape and did it myself. Quite a job but definitely worth the result. Reading the instructions for the cocpit set it only says "paint cocpit as you like", of course this wasnt good enough so thanks to this site, I found the manual for the original 190E and am now able to complete the car as it should be. Tamiya has in fact included the helmet decals for Klaus Ludwig so that is sorted out. I also laughed when reading the original manual as to the star on the bonnet, "For display only" it says. As a Mercedes enthusiast I never drive my Mercedes without the star, so we'll see about that. Enough for now, great site for finding info on old kits.
