How to practice painting hard bodies?
backtomyroots replied to Colt Seavers's topic in Big Rigs and Scale Armour
Complete step-by-step from our very own member Shodog: http://www.j2drc.rchomepage.com/Scalearticles/paint%20guide.pdf It's a great read ! More here: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=72068&hl=%2Bpaint+%2Bguide#entry522780 Really, just practice I think. Though after all these years, anything I paint is still garbage . -
More new Tamiya items from the 2014 Nuremberg Toyfair.
backtomyroots replied to Mokei Kagaku's topic in General discussions
Buy these, I must ! -
I've got the TF2, the Gmade R1 and used to have the CR-01 and Wraith. I think it would be the SCX10 based on what you've described. Loads more to tinker with there I think. The Wraith may be the best of "all" the categories though although the R1 can be made either as a crawler or rock racer. Do let us know what the choice is .

backtomyroots replied to backtomyroots's topic in Big Rigs and Scale Armour
Yep, in my haste I posted in the wrong thread, should be Big Rigs. I was hoping for a newer updated version , maybe a bit more "digital". I just hope the instructions have been improved - I've still no idea how to use my MFC-01 or MFC-02 . -

Got some details ? What electronics is he running ? I run the Traxxas Velineon with a 2s lipo in mine but I think it needs a bit more power. -
All the goods from www.tamiyablog.com: http://tamiyablog.com/ I'll sum it up though: The popular Multi-Function Control (MFC) unit for R/C tractor trucks, which adds a whole extra layer of realism to driving, receives an update. This unit allows transmitter trim levers to be combined with stick control use, meaning you can enjoy lights, sounds and vibrations coordinated with actions while driving your R/C tractor truck model. This version of the MFC features engine sounds which were recorded from a real European truck’s L6 diesel engine for amazing realism. Features 33 different types of sound, including engine ignition and shutdown, horn, gear changes, brakes, air sound effects and so on. A 60mm-diameter full-range speaker in a resin case provides excellent quality. Up to 21 actions can be controlled using a 4-channel transmitter. Tamiya Attack 2.4 GHZ Radio System 4-channel recommended for best compatibility. Light operation and volume adjustment are also possible using the transmitter. Includes white, red and yellow high brightness LEDs to duplicate truck HID lights with precision. An ESC has been built in to the unit, enabling realistic running at very low speeds. The MFC unit can be run in three modes: R/C mode with Multi-Function (lights and sounds) off; Multi mode, with R/C and multi-function on; Demo mode, which allows display of lights and sounds only. Can be used for support leg operation when employing Item 56505 Motorized Support Legs. Cannot be used together with Item 53909 TLU-01 or Item 53937 TLU-02 LED light units. Requires separately sold 4ch transmitter with slide trims, 4ch receiver and 2 servos (3 if using Item 56505). Tamiya Attack 2.4 GHZ Radio System 4-channel recommended for best compatibility.

I'll be ordering it soon but not building until the spring I suspect then we'll have a full review ! I think the big $$ one is all metal which is a significant difference and if the wife allowed me I would buy it . In the meantime, Tamiya has yet a large number of r/c I am still purchasing, building and stockpiling.

Just an amazing job thus far, wish it was a factory kit I could go buy right now from Tamiya.

Great update ! Wife says "no" so I am going to order the following truck in the next two weeks from him though ! This be coming to me soon : http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-XC6-6X6-Military-Off-Road-6WD-1-12-Scale-Tractor-Truck-Rock-Crawler-KIT-NIB/251384327269?_trksid=p2050601.m2372&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D207%26meid%3D4312266284429514504%26pid%3D100085%26prg%3D1112%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D111257405906%26%26clkid%3D4312267043310391601&_qi=RTM1562572 I think I may add the MFU but still early in the planning stages. Cheers !

Well, I was hoping that part #56533 was a new simpler transmission but no such luck. (I still see no purpose in those 3 speed transmissions - same for the High Lift Series). Update from www.tamiyablog.com below: 56533 Trailer Head Matte Gear Box (1/14 RC Truck) - The matte surface of the product by changing the molding resin, and create the atmosphere of the actual vehicle unique. - Up by a rigid carbon reinforced, it is possible to suppress the deformation of the part, improvement of durability can be expected. - Applicable Products: trailer head various .
-
Great work. You know, Tamiya should have released this. (Tamiya, take notes) Impressive, to say the least.
-
I agree. Some new tires and wheels for the CC-01 and High Lift series are really needed.

Playstation 4 Countdown.
backtomyroots replied to backtomyroots's topic in Anything not RC related goes here
Odd, I've no love for the xbox . So far I've not had the chance to play as much as I've liked but I'm satisfied with the titles I have thus far. I'm looking forward to what the releases will be this year for both consoles. Destiny seems to be getting some interest as well as Dying Light. Well for me anyway ! -
This is a wonderfully put together thread and conversion. Nice build/job ! (I think I made up the word "wonderfully" )
