  2. good link [Y] - you are right - that sand viper looks to be almost the same as the desert gator. Good old tamiya up to the same tricks I see. Of course , that great Hi Lift truck is looking fanatstic and is a great breath of life [].
  3. Well here goes: My first real RC was a Tamiya. I left the hobby for several years. When I returned, I remembered that it began with Tamiya. My roots began with Tamiya ! I came back to my roots. So that is how I got the username backtomyroots [Y]. Not bad huh ?!
  4. Hello. For Sale is two packages of Imex Clodbuster Rims (a total of four rims included). They have been removed from the wrapper, however never been used. Never been mounted on a truck. No pics right now, however in a few days I will have them as the family camera is away right now. Best offer gets them, shipping in Canada/USA will probably be about $12. Here is a link to the imex site so you know what they are: http://www.imexrc.com/CLOD_NEW.htm Paypal only. Thanks, CG
  5. Ditto fellas ! I have completely given up on nearly any Tamiya purchase at a LHS ! I do nearly all tamiya purchases online. We have one Tamiya Distributor/Importer in Canada and he is the only guy that brings it in. It has been my experience that all of my LHS's have very limited supply and nearly everything is "out of stock" "on order" or "discontinued".I have even tried to purchase from the distributor (managed some txt-1 parts once but had to beg !), but they always refer me to the hobby shops. For example, I called the distibutor to see if they have a 2005 RC Guide Book. They answered yes. I have been trying to get a LHS to order for nearly 5 weeks ! Yeah - but if you want traxxas or hpi you get anything you want. I even tried ordering items direct from tamiya usa but they won't ship to canada ! So, to sum up - thank goodness for the internet ! I have one LHS that is in town he is nice and even greets me by name - just can't get anything i ever need from tamiya. Another "major" LHS that is about 45 minutes away has a better selection - but high prices and it's the same thing. You almost feel like you are bothering them if you have a question and that is after you manage to get their attention ! Yet - they are always busy [:S].
  6. BiggusDitchus, you'd be surprised what excuses & debates I hear writing a ticket. And yes, a lady did say to me the other day, and I quote "With all respect I think the limit should be 80 km/hr here" it was a 60 zone []. Unfortunately no one takes responsibility for their own actions these days [].
  7. JAnderson - are you able to say what it is that you do for Tamiya (I'm very curious). And secondly, judging by your great truck - do we have you to thank for the new Hi Rider F350 release by Tamiya then [].
  8. 2006 Tamiya Catalog is available in my LHS (Cambridge, Ontario,Canada). I'm still trying to find a 2005 Radio Control Guide Book though [:@]. Must agree, definitely someone asleep at the wheel at the Tamiya Japan site !
  9. Hibernaculum wrote the following post at 23 Apr 2006 8:41 PM: G'day,Good question. For me, it can be summed up in two words: buggies and realism. Ideally I want both, but I'd settle for just realism. In reality, I know I'll probably get neither. I'm surprised that I'm practically the first one to vote for buggies. I voted for realistic buggies too []
  10. Welcome to the TXT-1 club [Y]. You started out well by reading the Dr Doug's FAQ's. Here goes: Wheel Wideners: probably not necessary unless you are breaking speed records. Servo: Probably any High Torque Servo is great. Hitec 645MG is used by many here on TC. You should be able to plug any new servo into any relatively new reciever. ESC: Truck does not come with one. Recommended are the Novak Super Rooster, or if you want two battery packs to run the Novak Super Duty, or a Traxxas EVX Motors: Most mildly modified motors will do. Sport tuned I don't think will make a big difference. try something like 17x2. This is where other members will need to step in I run a HV Maxx Brushless just to be crazy []. Bearings: Get a full bearing kit ! Extra recommendations: I receommend a stainless steel screw kit, I got one and it makes a big difference ! Here's my txt-1: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...01&sid=7434http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=32401&sid=7434'> Hopefully this is a little helpful []. Check my movie clips out to see 'er in action !
  11. Great topic ! I have to admit the first thing that caught my attention with tamiya many years ago was the scale realism ! So, I would like buggies similar to the real ones ie: Wild One Trucks that look like a real truck, ie: Mountaineer, TXT-1. Of course not a re-release as with all the new battery and motor technology today we would need to have vehicles built for today's standards. So basically - I want Tamiya to provide me with RC Models that look like they are a shrunk down version of the real thing. That would be cool. [H] just my opinion but I find todays generation, although technically advanced - they don't look anything like a real vehicle with the body off [:@]. I must give Tamiya some praise though for their real life vehicle look alikes (Tamiya big rigs, tanks etc) but I think they hit the nail on the head with the newest creation the Hi Rise F-350 [Y]. In fact I have already started saving for two of them !
  12. [Y]. That's something ! When you gonna open your own manufacturing business - we'll support it - I swear [].
  13. I'm not 100 % but I believe you should also purchase the ESP Shock lift kit when adding some new dampers, it is pictured on Tamiya King's truck.
  14. DCM71 that is one of the sharpest looking buggies I've seen in a long time. Great work [Y] .
  15. The thing I like the most about this new truck is that it is something that represents a truck you would actually see driving down the street ! Very representative of some dual purpose road / off-road trucks that are driven by people in North America [Y].
  16. Excellent. I have been thinking very much lately of getting a TNX to bash around for the summer and now I have to wait and see what the new TNX is all about ! Tamiya is on a roll !
  17. I agree it's not the same as an original bruiser BUT I must admit this is one catchy ride ! It looks much more practical to todays users and very capable ! It is a nice adaptation with the same theory in mind. I think it is a great product in a new direction that has borrowed form old philosophy and if we buy enough of 'em the next model will only be better ! My guess is $399.99 US Funds. As far as my personal collection it will grow by at least two of these trucks! []
  18. Finally ! It's about time Tamiya came up with a decent new release [Y]. (I was losing hope) Team that up with some sweet LED's and a great paint job and you have a winner !
  19. Cambridge, Ontario, Canada [H]. Good topic. I agree, Tamiya vehicles get a lot more use in the UK. We need some serious North American Get togethers here, we are being embarrassed !
  20. Hey everybody - now that spring is here [] that means we are cleaning the dust off our rides and if you are like me - that means tons of new parts for the new season [H]! I jacked up the TXT-1 with a Stainless Steel Hex Screw Set (how did I live without one !), New Era Skid Plates (Even gave 'em a quick polish), RC4WD MEtal Ball ends, Traxxas Driveshafts and GPM Alloy Wheel Hubs ! Check 'er out let me know what you think - and show me what you have done to ready yourself for the new season ! my apologies I can't get an image in here, so click here: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...01&sid=7434 Thanks for looking !
  21. I think stulec52 got the nail on the head.....................I feel a special die cast model in limited edition coming up ! (Oh wait, I think every car is in limited edition when it comes from Tamiya []).
  22. Great video ! So, what's the verdict - do we have a capable vehicle with some potential for some great 4wd off road races ?
  23. Just an FYI for all members. Although the "punisher" shafts I receieved were faulty, Mike from RC4WD refunded my money [Y] and didn't even ask for the items to be returned ( I did email him pictures of the damage though). So, I have to give him 2 thumbs up and this has been the only "hiccup" I've had with rc4wd over the last year.
  24. Thank you Tamiyabigstuff ! The second link worked out for me. Ebay Canada wasn't working out but you solved my problem [].
  25. Tamiyabigstuff - thanks. It was no spoof, I listed an item and in my desacription I had written one battery and then two battery packs run through truck. Some clown wrote me and called me a LIAR and dufus. I informed him it was simply a listing error as I had listed several items at once and I then corrected it. I even posted his "question". Check it out here if you wish : http://cgi.ebay.com/Tamiya-TLT-1-complete-...1QQcmdZViewItem I followed your instructions but got to a "This page may have moved or is no longer available" ? Anyone else help me out ?
