  1. Stripped down, truck in mint condition, do not think it was even run by the original owner.

Stripped down, replaced the bearings and built it "dry" as it's a shelfer.

Installed Xtreme Racing carbon fiber BTA steering both front and rear for full time 4 wheel steering. Aluminum 4 links replaced the plastic stockers.

Utilized the 3rd channel mixing on the Turnigy 3XS FHSS 2.4 GHZ radio. Great price and all the features you need - recommended - receiver is super compact as well.

  2. Looks pretty good  I would leave it 4 wheel steering to start. But, I am curious how the rear wheel steering lock out affects the overall turning radius, cant be good? But, I am sure it is more stable with just front wheel steering.

I need to get on the ball with my Juggernaut build. Hope to start chassis assembly this weekend, and maybe get some paint sprayed :)

EDIT - Looks like your body got damaged in the same spot mine was, right around the front cab screw holes :( I am going to use my current "repaired" body for running, need to find another Juggernaut body for shelf duty, though B)

Going with 4 wheel steer - stock silver cans and shelf duty so should be safe !

Body colour on - TS-23 Light Blue. Could use another coat if I can find a can in stock anywhere.

Still waiting for my bearings - 1 month later <_< .

  3. The tires by design won't really move when it's sitting still - it's designed to turn while moving.

I recommend mounting the servo on the axle which could be done on both. If that's a bit pricey there are several servo options.

  4. Excellent - but far too clean lol . The only thing i would personally change is to colour match the wheels to the body . IMO that would look far more realistic , then get some weathering done . Powdered pastel rubbed into the paint works well .

    Wheels, done - good idea.

More to come - ? Too many other projects going on so this is "it" for now.

  5. This isn't supposed to be an ignorant question - even if it sounds like one - but what's the point of print magazines any more? What's in these mags that isn't on this and similar sites?

I stopped reading mags related to all of my interests some time ago and I don't feel like I'm missing out

Because I like to sit down, enjoy a tea and crack open a magazine - that's why :o .

Agree! Furthermore, the print magazines are so dependent on advertising that you will be hard pressed to find an objective and honest product test.

RCCA has imho always been one of the worst in this respect. Mostly useless tests where even the crappiest product is praised and hyped. I much prefer independent websites, especially the unsponsored ones. They may not always present the truth, but at least don't have to lie to satisfy the advertisers at the cost of the paying readers.

I'm not even nostalgic about RCCA. The magazine was originally run by RC airplane enthusiasts that didn't have a single clue about RC cars, so the first issues were terrible. Then commercial interests started to dominate RCCA completely, turning a bad magazine even worse. The Readers' Rides was to me the single enjoyable part of that magazine.

    .

I recall back in the late '80's, early '90's when everything RCCA was Tamiya.

Would people be so hateful towards print if that was the case now :P ?

Each person has reasons to go digital or print ! Some, are certainly more old school - - - -

  6. Radio, buy one with digital adjustments, not analog or "dial". Great economical options at Hobby King:

    http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__23165__Turnigy_GTX3_AFHDS_2_4ghz_3_Channel_Radio_System.html

    I use both.

The receiver can be stuffed inside a regular blow up balloon and zip tied closed or you can use a Traxxas receiver box:

Economically speaking, just stuff it in a balloon.

Servo - doesn't need to be "waterproof" if you just plan on splashing quickly through puddles. But t be safe several options exist, most economically is the Traxxas one:

    http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXTKL0&P=ML

Battery - Traxxas Waterproof Lipos fit, I used one no problem in my Wild One:

    http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBLMY&P=7

    Charger:

    http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBLNM&P=7

Other options also exist for a charger but this is a great economical all purpose one.

The initial battery charger purchase is expensive but then you have them for future cars !

You can purchase waterproof brushless combinations of speed controller and motor for great prices ! I ran a brushless combo in mine with no problems, greater run times and better running.

Just don't go too high in the motor.

I would use a Turnigy combo:

Others an recommend the best "kv" if this is too much.

Also order a full ball bearing kit:

I've used or purchased every product I've linked to, please take the time to consider them.
