  1. You pretty much listed all the differences. The hilux also uses different body mounts all around. They come with king cab ones as well but they don't get used. Replacement parts are fairly easy to get. Especially on ebay. Original King Cab bodies are the hardest to get, Hilux bodies aren't as difficult but still getting few and far between. Hilux Front tires are everywhere. But Hilux rears (King Cab all 4) are extremely difficult to find. They come up once in a while for high prices. If you're just using it for a runner, all the parts to keep it running are fairly common to find. It's just the few parts to make a 100% correct box art Hilux - King Cab which are hard to source.

  2. @ Ideal2k -- BMW 520i is a club member here on TC.

Ottaviano1 is a TC member as well. TC name - RcRacer. i have dealt with him many times in the past with great experiences. though i have not had any decals of his, i'm sure he would like to know any concerns regarding them. he has updated his auctions to state the short comings of the decals, but that is why he sells them so cheap. i can understand everyones frustrations, but in defense of Artie (Ottaviano1) , he is a great fellow ebayer with good pricing on his NIP items. he ships items quickly and well packaged. i didn't want this topic to become an attack on him as an ebayer as he has always taken good care of my orders with no problems, and this decal concern should not deter anyone from bidding on his other items.

  3. if you are willing to upgrade to oil shocks these tamiya cva's work great compared to the stock friction shocks.......

as far as bodies go, it has been my experience that most "universal" 1/10 scale truck bodies will fit (like ones for a traxxas stampede), but the wheel arches don't line up very well due to the bush devil having a shorter wheel base. i always like to run a parma ford f-150 blackfoot body, since it lines up perfectly........

being that this is a lexan replica of a blackfoot hard body, this means you may want to run one of those or a super blackfoot body as well. the body mount holes will line up with no modifications. i also noticed an original Bush Devil body set is on eBay right now....i think that your best bet though, to keep costs down, is to just go with the Parma F-150...

(If you want to view the Super Blackfoot in my showroom it has both of these items i mentoned. as you may or may not know the SBF and BD are the same exact trucks just with different color schemes and shells.)

  4. I love any & all Iron Maiden tracks (though the later ones with singer Blaze Bayley aren't at the top of my list, i still like 'em). The early stuff with Paul Di'anno singin' is great! Like Wrathchild, Killers, & Purgatory. With Bruce Dickinson at the mic i like Hallowed be thy name, The trooper, Number of the beast, and the more recent Wicker Man.You all get the idea! I've been on such a maiden kick recently that no one wants to ride in my truck with me unless i change the music for once!!LOL, Oh well.......it means i can crank it up as loud as i want!!

Oh, and i'm with Focus1 about Turbonegro...those guys rock!! My brother turned me on to them years back.

  5. hi there,

i too had been trying to locate the KBF wheel hexes by themselves without having to buy a whole "d" tree to get them. i ended going with tamiya's aluminum 'pin-type' wheel adaptors......

    http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...=LXGE28&P=7

tamiya part # is 53056. these are far stronger than the stock plastic units and they come in sets of 4.

the only thing i had to do to get these to fit, was to slightly enlarge the center hole with a 5mm drill bit.

i'm not sure if this would be neccesary on your application though.......

    hope this helps you out!!

  6. Hi everyone,

I know the discussion of converting old Frog/Blackfoot/Monster beetle cars over to the re-re frog "dog-bone" set-up has already been discussed, but i was wondering if anyone else here on TC noticed the frog "universal joint kit" on the tamiyausa web site. it looks now as if those of us wanting to buy this conversion as a "kit" won't have to wait long. plus it includes universals which are a better/stonger set-up anyway, right? here's the link to view it.............

    http://www.tamiyausa.com/search.php?q=53908

also on another note, tamiya also seems to be coming out with another kit to allow the use of  modern hex-type rear rims on the 5-pin style cars. i know we all seem to be getting along just fine using the HPI adaptors, but these trick aluminum bits look sooooooo cool! check'em out......

    http://www.tamiyausa.com/search.php?q=53913

no prices posted on the site yet, but it kinda seems like tamiya is looking after us "time-warp" guys by releasing modern hop-ups afterall!! just thought i'd share this info with everyone! i did a forum search and hadn't seen any topics on these yet!?!?

  7. yeah,  i was checking out the tamiyausa website last week and i noticed the TS 2005 was discontinued. is it possibly a misprint? i noticed that when some of the lateset re-re's came out they brought the original buggy's info out on their site and it said "(discontinued) see re-release p/n 583XX". maybe this is what they intended to do!?! Tower Hobbbies shows the thundershot 2005 (58361) still in stock. i too would like to know if anyone knows for certain if the re-re is already discontinued. anyone have any info??

  8. the yellow shocks are the original c.v.a.'s equipped on the monster beetle. the black shocks are original for the blackfoot or mud blaster and they DO NOT use oil. as far as the steering hubs go, i'm pretty sure that ALL 3 models had black ones as they came from tamiya. the yellow ones, i think, are stronger aftermarket replacements made by CRP. hope this helps sort things...

  9. a stampede's wheel base is still a little long for a MB chassis. it will work but it looks wierd i think. parma still makes a blackfoot body in lexan and it's available from tower hobbies.........

    http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...=LXDA56&P=7

it doesn't say blackfoot in the description but the decals it comes with do. also you will need to get blackfoot body mounts which should be easy enough to source some used ones. i've used this body on many blackfoot, super blackfoot, and bush devil trucks and it looks fantastic! it also has the body mount holes pre marked, but you do have to drill 'em. it includes window masking and overspary film as well....

  10. this is in regards to a comment i left about changing chrome parts to gold in an earlier forum.

    http://tamiyaclub.com/CS/forums/thread/145599.aspx

i figured i'd start a new topic since this wasn't really related to shodog's original question.

anyhow, i tried a local trophy shop for the gold dip and he had some of the exact stuff i used to use. however, i learned that it is made by the company that also makes the trophy figures and it only adheres well to their products. the guy said he try one of my wheels for free, but couldn't promise a successful result. long story short.......i chanced it and was unsuccessful. it didn't stick well and just made my new chrome wheel look like a used 'rusty' piece 'o junk. i was able to salvage it back to life with some nail polish remover.

so i guess we could all forget i mentioned it and i'm still open to anyone's ideas on how to change chrome plated plastic parts to gold (like the finish on stock monster beetle wheels).

  11. also, the fronts should be a direct fit. and with these adaptors you SHOULD be able to leave your motor alone as these adaptors space out the wheels to stock location. they make the conversion a direct bolt-on with no modifications whatsoever. as far as i've ever seen the rims only come with tires mounted. however, they ARE NOT glued on so if you have any old stock aftermarket LB/MP tires there won't be any hassle changing them out! please if anyone has personal experience with this, correct me if i am wrong. but for $1.90 it's worth a shot!!! like i said earlier these DO work on the bigger 2.2" rims on blackfoot trucks with no problems!

  12. true the tires on the LB and WW2 are the same. the rear wheels are different. the LB , as stated before , has the old 5-pin style wheel and the WW2 has the hex style mounting. i know of the HPI adaptors that will mount king blackfoot wheels on a original blackfoot as the same situation happens on these 2 trucks BLACKFOOT - 5-pin /   KING BLACKFOOT - hex style. view this link and check out the lower right adaptor on the parts trees.......

  13. willy chang,

i was think of turning a set of chrome king blackfoot wheels into gold. when i was younger my parents owned a trophy/awards business. we used to change the chrome plastic figures for the tops of the trophies to gold with a special gold dip that was intended just for that purpose. the part has to be chromed first (and plastic) as is the case for the ww2 body and kbf hop-up wheels.

my parents have since sold the business and i haven't had the access to this dip. if you can wait a little while i will take my rims to a local trophy shop this week and see what they can do. if it is a go, i will have it done then post pics. i figure risking a $15.00 set of rims is better than the hard to get ww2 metallic body you have!

i'll let you know how they turn out![:)]

  14. since the sunroof on the blitzer has the antenna hole, it doesn't affect the main body. also the front nose cone is removable as well, so installing an original monster beetle one is no problem.

underneath the blitzer's roof it is marked "monster beetle 1986". this means it IS a MB body, just molded in black! there are no differences at all as far as fender/hood shapes, or monting points in the main body. even the side body mount holes are in the same place! if your looking to buy a BB body for a MB resto they are infact identical! just the "bolt-on" parts differ as mentioned before........front nose cone, sunroof, and winshield(BB windshield is a darker tint but is the same exact shape as the MB one). hope this answers what you needed to know![;)]
