  1. I have a F103 that has been a project to obtain the fastes speed I can and still retain some resemblence to handling. They are fast, nearly frictionless, light and so simple they are maintenance free. I have fitted a home made rubber bumber (for obvious reasons) that also works as a front wing. Traction is the problem. On my Aussie streets and carparks the dust makes the original foams usless. I have a set of type B slicks and some type A tyre caps on a pair of wide and fat rear foams (more diameter than standard). I use a 3300mah or 3000mah nimhi battery and a no limit F1 reverse LRP speed controler. The spur gears available in th 0.4 RD are 104 and 93 tooth. I have 20, 21 annd 23 tooth pinion gears. With a sports tuned motor and the highest gearing i get about 50 kph, with and acto tuned motor (17 turn I think) and the highest gearing I get about 70kph. With a 13 or 7 turn motor and the lowest gearing i get well above 80kph, but initial acceleration is very poor and I need a very straight road. a small bumb sends it airbourne! My speed estimations are done by racing full size cars. The 13 turn over heats when I do a lot of stop starts or slow corners, and wears brushes to quickly. The 7 turn is a cheapy but seems to go ad go. I have decided to stick with the acto for good speed reliability and acceleratrion.

As far as Torque and Power, Torque is need to move a heavy wieght but is a measure of lifting with no respect to time or distance, i.e. will shift a tonne but not necessarly quickly. Power is the ability to do work, or shift something requiring force over a distance with respect to time. Thus to go fast you need power. I think!

  2. hi, ive just installed a heat sink to the motor of my hopped up manta ray. I'm worried about it vibrating loose and shorting the terminals on the motor. I've thought about super glue but think this will deteriate with the heat. What do people normally do? Also would installing a rubber ballon (the type used to cover msc's) over the motor end bell (like in the hotshot manual) be a good idea to keep out dirt, or will it block too much air flow for cooling? Just being predantic! Thanks.[?]

  3. the wheels on my hotshot can be reversed to provide a wider track. how will this affect the car's handling? I believe it will provide more stabillity, and sharper turning. Havn't tried it yet as I'm still rebuilding it. Also if I were to put a 19T in it what pinion size should I use. [?]
