Hi,
Motor mount for the above has broken & I have looked for a replacement with no joy.
Only part no. I can work out is B2 - do I have to buy a "B" parts set or are motor mounts available?
I have seen references to alloy mounts but not sure if they are compatible.
Can anyone advise:
The cheapest option and
the best option?
Thanks

In case the info is of use to anyone else - Just found the answer - 16t for off-road, 18 for smooth.

Hi,
My Ninja motor burnt out a while ago & I replaced it (with a Tamiya dirt tuned one), however, I have now made myself uncertain that I put the correct pinion back on as I have a number of pinions sloshing around.
Please could someone tell me how many teeth it should have as I want to be as nice to the gearbox as possible, even reverting to a standard motor, as I have read that theses 'boxes are not too robust?
Cheers

Good Day,
What is the turn limit motor can these buggies can handle without having to replace the weak gears? I won't be using the stock mechanical ESC.
Thanks
Chevalier,
Did you come to any conclusion on this?
I put a Tamiya Dirt tuned motor in my Ninja and I now suspect that it trashed the gearbox, in the light of stuff I have since read. I've got another donor vehicle, but I'm concerned about putting this gearbox in & trashing that too in which case I will need to revert to a standard motor.
Did you take the plunge & if so, what happened?
Cheers

Thanks for the info -stuff I was unable to find to date
Sorry about being grumpy!

None of those shops are off road specialists, I'm not surprised you didn't find anything there. Try somewhere that actually sells off road, such as Modelsport Apex Models DC RacingThe sizes aren't listed as apart from Tamiya every other buggy uses a standard 2.2" wheel size and tyres.
For wheels get a set of either the Tamiya Dark Impact/Keen Hawk wheels, Lazer ZX5 wheels or Academy SB4 wheels then you can use any standard off road tyres you want from Schumacher, Hot Bodies, Ballistic Buggy, Losi and Proline, including more longer lasting treaded tyres like the Proline Dirt hawg rear and Dirt Hawg fronts

Hello,
I'm running out of ideas on this -
I have a Terra Scorcher for which I need to replace the wheels & tyres (do not have to be Tamiya). I have hexes to replace the original drives, so hex wheels sought.
I have a Dirt Thrasher which needs new tyres.
I have tried a number of shops and met with staggering indifference (Modelzone, Eastbourne, Sussex Model Centre, Worthing, Mr Models, Ferndown & one in Bournemouth), as well as a couple of duff purchases on ebay or other inline shops (pick a 1 1/0th scale , any one you like....). I looked at CML online, but sizes seem to be a detail not clear to me or not worth divulging
These things must be consumables - where do you TamiyaClub regulars get yours?
I'm looking for knobbly off-road tyres - any brand as these are cars for my nippers and see a lot of action.
Any advice gratefully received.
Many thanks

Thanks monsterbeetle,
8.4v or 7.2v are shown as ok in the manual, so
I guess that either the motors (both would appear to be original '80s
ones) are just past it, possibly combined with the extended runtime
offered by the 3700mAh pack.
Thanks for the info about "turns"- I
think that for my purposes, an off-road buggy would want a motor with
more torque, than a revvy high speed beastie.
DJTheo,
Can't imagine the motor is too oily...as I haven't oiled it-maybe I should have done. The whole thing looks standard to me(both Mabuchi motors -nothing to write home about as far as aware), so shouldn't be overgeared - that just leaves the motor being past it - two opinions leading to the same conclusion is good enough for me.
Thanks

I'm something of a newbie to all this....
I'm running a Marui Ninja on an 8.4V cell pack (given as an option in the manual). Having spent a number of months getting the thing together, on pretty much the first outing the motor burnt out.
I had a spare, so straight swap & on the next outing, after about 15minutes of heavy going, the motor was starting to smoke...
I was wondering whether a 3700mah pack was enabling runtimes in excess of the duty cycle of the motor- maybe it needs to cool down after 10 mins or so? When the car was made, cell packs were typically 1700mah, so runtimes were less...?
Without going mad on an motor, what are the options? I'm running an MTroniks Viper Eco20 esc & would rather not have to change this, or would not want to top £30 or so if I had to.
Related to this, can anyone explain, or point me to a guide that explains motor Turns & other terms etc? many thanks
Jonathan
