I loved the retro Porsche 911 Safari cars and when the TT-02 RSR was released it clicked! Here is a simple TT-02 build. Car has been completed prior to the write up but I will try to map out the steps I took should you want to try something similar. Many thanks to a few people in the “what did I do today” group for help This build is low budget with no major hop-ups. Is there a 911 bodyshell that a) fits a TT02 shell wheelbase and b) is readily available as a body set.

This is a follow up to two great Mf-01x 911 projects. The first by Juls1 and the second by OldSchoolRC1. If you haven't seen their threads yet and want detailed info on converting a mini size Mf-01x to a TT-01 size short wheelbase you should take a look. Many of the drive train and suspension mods I had in mind before I started building but their excellent builds are a proof of concept and worth a peek. The only thing that really bugged me about Tamiya's excellent 2.7 RSR where the wheels. While they look great for a modern Fuch wheel, they are too low profile to look period correct. I made my own Fuch wheels that had a black ring on the rim to simulate a high profile tire from the 70's. Its a solution similar to what Tamiya did on the F104 F1 wheels. The TL-01 long span suspension was for the most part, a direct fit but I had to make rear upright extensions, and front & rear shock mounts similar to OldSchoolRC1's car.

Hi I’m about to start build a TT-02 based Porsche 911 RSR but I’m not sure on the; wheelbase, ride-hight and tread setting. I think it should be: Wheelbase = Short Ride-hight = Standard Tread = Standard If you built one or know the chassis configuration could you let me know if I have this correct. Thanks.

I have a 911 RSR arriving in the next few days. My plan is to not do it as per the box art, but go for this colour scheme I've seen on the Singer website: As such, I'm looking for some basic decals with "Porsche" in orange etc on them. Can anyone point me in the direction of where I might be able to buy these?

After a year long hiatus, I’m back! The weather has turned, and with warm weather, the RC bug bites. I have been really enjoying my first rally car, a TT02 Datsun 240z. I love the versatility of the rally chassis, and my Datsun is a blast to drive. Can’t wait to get started.

I have but one requirement on all of my cars. The motor should sit in the same approximate place as the real car. So here we go. I like the Porsche 911, for me the styling is hit or miss. Early 911s are beautiful, 935s are beautiful, 993s are beautiful, and I really like the 991. Part of its beauty is that it is an oddball. Mid-engine has had a clear advantage for the ultimate in performance since its debut. So undeniable is this fact that for the first time the 911 RSR will now feature a midship layout. Not like the 1990s 911 GT1, which is essentially a group C car with 911 windows and lights, of which less than 50 were ever built. How could I possibly not make my 993 rear engine when Tamiya makes it easy? I excitedly built the gearbox section without even taking a photo. It's all standard fare, plus bearings of course. Reluctantly I am putting up for sale my gorgeous Porsche 911 GT1, which has been hopped up beyond TRF spec with almost every single TA03 Hop Up imaginable including some nice rare official Tamiya hex head hardware too. It has never been ran in its current state with the only used parts being the Eurethane front bumper, some hop ups (that have been cleaned up) and some plastic parts. Most of the plastics are the rare black type with only a few small parts using the original grey ones. The body is new built and never ran, it was cut, painted and decalled by myself to a pretty good standard (as can be seen by the pictures). What you see is what you get and I will list below the extensive hop ups that have been used, some of which are ultra rare to find these days. Having a clear out of a few items I will more than likely never use again. So all in order, A well used Porsche 911 GT1 Body. Some yellowing and lifting of decals and a few bad front end splits that have been temp repaired. Ideal as a runner body. Secondly, is a used Technigold motor in original box. No insert etc, just the motor and box. Motor runs fine as I have tested it in my Madcap, a genuine increase in speed over the stock 540. Next is a set of 4 Porsche 911 GT1 Wheels fitted with inserts and Tamiya semi slick racing tyres. Wheels have been kerbed at the edges as you would say but have had their lip painted Tamiya Chrome Silver as per the box art. And lastly is a TA03R-S/F-S chassis tub along with low mount type front damper stay and short drive belt (not pictured) Ideal to convert a stock TA03R or F into the short wheelbase version, suited to the Porsche 911 GT1 and GT2 bodies.
