After some investigation about this Tamiya Model I decided to sell the Renault 5 Turbo, RA1226 from about 1980-1982. It is an unbuild Tamiya Scale Model, no packaging inside the box was opened. The box itself has some minor scratches on the front but no cuts or cracks. I kept this Model since my Father passed away in 2013 and since I am not into building Tamiya Models it is best to give it to someone who has the enthusiasm and love for these Tamiya cars. Body: (prepainted)Killerbody Lancia Delta Group A Rally, with Killerbody light kit. Magnetic stealth body post kit. Chassis: Pretty standard TB02, a few blue aluminium parts, and sway bar set. I bought a carbon effect Kamtec TT01 chassis/dust cover which fits my chassis perfectly after trimming. Wheels: Tamiya Lancia Delta wheels tyres and inserts. Electrics: Arrowmax 13.5t sensored brushless motor Turnigy Trackstar 60a sensored ESC Turnigy Trackstar TS-D99X steering servo Setup: Yellow(hard) rear springs Red(soft) front springs yellow(medium) sway bars, front and rear. I'll sort out the toe, camber etc when I give it a proper run. I've only taken it for a very short run on the street but it handles very well, I think I have the suspension setup just right. It's quite heavy with the lights, alloy, and hard plastic dust cover. This gives it realistc looking handling.

There are two recent variants of the TT-02 Type S worth considering for this; the standard kit (58600) which remains widely available and if you can still find one, the drift spec kit (47301). I purchased the TT-02D Type S because it was on offer at £99 (not to be confused with the standard non Type S TT-02 drift chassis 58584). I decided to build this rally car from the Type S chassis kit simply to see how good it would be and to answer many of the common questions which appear on here and in other forums on the suitability of the Type S for rally. I have owned a variety of the standard Tamiya rally cars over the years and although I haven't finished this yet, based on the rolling chassis and ground clearance it looks like it is going to be pretty decent for bashing. The standard TT-02 rally cars, which currently come in either the Lancia (58570) or Subaru (58631) variants, are ok but as per all regular TT-02 kits they lack any real adjustability. Notable exclusions from the standard kits which in my view should be essential for Rally are ball bearings and oil damped shocks. Common questions on setting up the TT-02 Type S as a Rally Car: 1) Why chose the Type S variant over the regular TT-02? The Type S is a much higher specification TT-02 and has a number of aftermarket parts including: [1] FRP suspension arms (51297), FRP axle uprights (51293 / 51352 ), [2] FRP suspension mounts (14305646 / 14305647), [3] metal 12mm hex wheel adapters (53056), [4] Super Mini CVA Shocks (50746), [5] full ball bearings, [6] adjustable threaded turnbuckles and steering arms, and [7] steel suspension mounts (54634). The TT-02D Type S variant (now discontinued) also includes the Tamiya aluminium propeller shaft (54501) and propeller joints (54502). The cost of buying all these separately as hop-ups including the spacers and screws and other extras not mentioned could easily be the cost of the kit again at ~£100. 2) I understand you can't increase ground clearance at the front with the FRP suspension arms? This is true in standard form because the upgraded FRP front arms are restricted where the axle upright meets the suspension arm cross bar. Removing a small amount of material from the suspension arm cross bar, increases the ground clearance significantly. The steps to do this are shown further below. 3) How much ground clearance can I get? With a small amount of material removed from the front suspension arm cross bar, using the standard CVA Super Mini Shocks with the short lower shock eyelet at the front and long eyelet at the back; the ground clearance is 1” / 25mm. You can increase this further both front and back but the maximum is approximately 35mm before the dogbone style driveshafts and turnbuckles are at a comfortable limit. 25mm is plenty for off road with this chassis and its off road capability is really limited more by wheel/tyre size beyond this. 4) Do I need to upgrade the Super Mini CVA Shocks which are included to Mini or Short CVA Shocks? No, they are perfectly fine as they come in the kit. The Super Mini CVA Shocks (50746) can be built to a standard length of 56mm using the short length lower eyelet and 62mm using the long length lower eyelet. Both of these eyelets are included on the parts tree and with the adjustability of the arms you can max out suspension travel and ground clearance with the Super Mini Shocks. The difference between the Super Mini CVA Shocks and regular Mini CVA Shocks is in the damper piston body. This is shorter on the Super Mini Shock but the piston rod is the same length allowing the same maximum stroke. When building The Type S chassis up in Rally Spec, there are a few considerations: 1) You will need a body. 2) You will need an ESC. 3) You will need Rally Block tyres. The standard rims are 1.9" (49mm) so Tamiya Rally Block tyres (50476) will fit. Modifications 1) The main modification needed on this chassis to increase the ground clearance is to the front suspension arms (51297). The rear suspension is free moving. a) The extract from the manual below shows where the binding occurs. You simply file the material away on the suspension arm cross bar (highlighted in green) to the new profile. I used a square needle file with blank edges so no material was removed from the side of the arms. I chose to remove material on the cross bar rather than the axle upright since the profile on the axle looks to be key to achieving integrity of the whole upright part. 2) The rear CVA Super Mini Shock unit needs to be built with the long eyelet (tree part 2) from the parts tree not the short eyelet (tree part 1). The front uses the short eyelet as per the standard instructions. 3) Instead of installing the suspension arms so the orientation is for the 2 mounting holes for the ball connectors that connect to the lower shock eyelets; the arms are reversed to orientate with the 3 mounting holes. These arms are fully reversible so this is fine. If the images don't show up for you below let me know and I will re host.

After a year long hiatus, I’m back! The weather has turned, and with warm weather, the RC bug bites. I have been really enjoying my first rally car, a TT02 Datsun 240z. I love the versatility of the rally chassis, and my Datsun is a blast to drive. Can’t wait to get started.

So a little over a year ago I ordered an XV-01 long damper kit from Omni models. It was on backorder at the time, but I was willing to wait. Well one month turned into 3 and then I was finally told that Tamiya had discontinued the kit. All the while I was waiting on the kit from OM, I had been stockpiling hop-ups. The problem is, I was getting parts for the long damper kit. The ones that are actually in question are the carbon damper stays. Also, I believe I got the completely wrong dampers for this kit. I bought the TRF Special Damper set, which is apparently intended for touring cars. I was/am stuck. I have a whole bunch of parts that I may or may not be able to use, and I decided to buy the standard XV-01 kit to avoid a total loss. Plus this is the car I really wanted when I was building the DF-03RA but it hadn't been produced yet. I ended up selling the DF-03RA a while back and it was never used. Can anyone who has built either the long damper or standard kit advise me on what parts I have that are usable. If I use the carbon damper stays (54581, 54582), what dampers can I use? Any help would be much appreciated. When I start building, I will post a good and robust thread.

I've wanted a rally car for some time now. Having looked at various options I settled on the TT02. This will be a rally car, an on road car, and a drift car also. I spent some time reading up on the TT02 and it seemed to tick all the boxes. I opted for the Type S which has some tasty upgrades over the standard TT02. So here we go. I started with the wheels. I'm still waiting on the wheels to put the kit on road tires on to. I'm sure you've all seen the TT02 chassis a million times before, but I haven't, and i like it. This is my first 4wd car since my 1990 Pro-Cat! I knocked this little piece up. Any guess as to what it's for? A little guard to keep stones out of the steering. As many of you have guessed, I'm a lover of all things Lancia. I've owned two Lancias. In high school I had a Lancia Beta Coupe *cue rust jokes*. And during college I bought and drove a Lancia Scorpion aka Montecarlo. The Coupe was fun, and I still tell the story about its rust nearly causing an accident. The Montecarlo was my true love, still to date my favorite car owned. I drove it for nearly a decade, eventually selling it as I needed air conditioning and it needed a proper repainting. I've been in love with all things Montecarlo since I saw the Lancia Rally stradale in the Bayless Fiat-Lancia parts catalog. From that I'd read many articles about the car. So as a Lancia fan, it's odd to say but the Stratos always comes second in my mind in spite of its accomplishments. I've owned more than a few 1/43 scale 037s, a few 1/24 scale Hasegawa, a pair of 1/24 Polisil models, and a 1/18th Kyosho. But the Tamiya 037 is the most interesting. Plus you can actually use it. My family was huge into Fiats and Lancia. Still is to a degree. Clockwise from bottom left: My 1976 Lancia Scorpion, Fiat 124 Coupe, my father's 77 Scorpion, 81 Beta Zagato (Spider), '80 Fiat 124 Spider ITB racecar, and another 124 Spider project car. So for me getting into RC in early 2013, it was quite timely that Tamiya should re-release the body in 2014. Unfortunately there is a bit of hunting required to piece together a working car. I did buy a TA03R, bought the new production belt from Germany and a R-S tub, built it... crashed it (minus bodyshell), rebuilt it. Then it annoyed me that the axles were always a little too wide in front. And the belt kept falling off on the back. The decision was made that I would sell the TA03R-S with the 911 GT1 shell I had that was useless because it was already cut... making duplication a daunting task. Then came the TA05. Originally you guessed it, it was for the Lancia 037 shell. Using the Porsche 911 GT2 body re-release instructions, I shortened the chassis. Again... front track way too wide even with extra thin hexes. If you've read this far, I think you know why I've decided on an M04 as the basis for this project. Additionally the supplied 037 wheels are simply too large in diameter for the body. This isn't surprising. Bearing in mind the body was originally designed for the ORV then redesigned to fit the TA03R-S. The reality is I'm grateful Tamiya made the re-releases. I now own enough bodies bought at a reasonable enough price, that I don't have to treat all of them as shelf queens. More to follow :-D The more you know factoid: Lancia Rally was the car's official designation. The 037 portion is an Abarth project number. And yes, the Group B Lancia Delta S4 is the Abarth 038.

Hello, glad to be a part of the community. I’ve almost finished my first Tamiya project in years and I’m having a problem with drive issues. I bought a super cheap but very clean used TB-03D to do a rally conversion (rally block tires and wheels, EVO III WRC body). I’m running a stock gearing of 64t Spur and 23t .06M pinion. I believe the previous owner installed a one way spool in the front because the car basically has FWD only and zero reverse. I get no wheel spin in the rear. I assume I have to tighten something in the diff or the drive shaft/spur, but no idea as this is my first Tamiya build in over 10 years. Any help/tips? Link to a short YouTube video of the problem:

Hi, I'm new here. This is the project I'm working on, it's a Blitzer Beetle body mounted on a rally set up TT-02r chassis. The front body mount is a modified Blitzer Beetle mount, I cut out the centre section so I could bolt it to the uprights. I have the chassis set to increased ride height & short wheelbase plus I've shortened the front track by replacing the front ~9mm hexes with 4mm hexes and fairly obviously I've fitted rally wheels/tyres. It has a Tamiya 10.5t brushless motor & a Team Powers XPS sport programmable ESC. There's still loads to be done - Replace shocks, not that I find much wrong with the TT-02r oil filled shocks but I want alloy shocks. Replace battery with LiPo. Tidy up body mounts & bolts etc. Now, to paint or not to paint? I really don't know whether to leave it 'ratty' or paint the shell. Perhaps white? With rally livery? Anyway, I've rambled on long enough. Here's a photo of it next to my Kyosho (I was fitting new tyres to) for scale. I think it looks pretty good, any ideas, thoughts, opinions would be most welcome.

Hello. Been years since i had a tamiya ta02 castrol celica, and today i started building my new in box tamiya ta01 celica 58096. I have a few questions. 1) is there a difference if you put the large plastic bearings 1150 in any of their sides? 2) plastic bearings 1150 that i installed in the uprights seem to fall easily, and not tight as in other cars like the hornet. Is that normal? 3) everything followed from the manual, when i turn the wheels by hand they stop when i let them go, they dont continue spinning like in my hornet. Is that the 4wd difference here? thats all. Thanks

With the new Lancia 037 coming out, I am eager to get my hands on one. Given the relative ubiquity of Martini Racing 037s, I was hoping to secure an alternative decal sheet to depict a different car, i.e. one of the Lancia junior team's Totip racers, or a Würth-sponsored car, or some sort of regional/privateer entry. However, outside of a rare set of 1:10 scale decals that have been untraceable afterwards, I have never seen an alternative decal sheet that would fit an 037 in this scale. Is there something I have missed, then? I see that The Rally Legends had several 037 body sets depicting different liveries from the 1983 season, but cannot find the individual body sets for sale, let alone decal sheets. I cannot justify taking on an extra shell just for the decals yet, but for the right livery, I could. I say this, seeing an alternative Martini set with a body online, though I would not even be using the entire sheet in that instance; hence, my reluctance. Otherwise, I will either be designing my own from an existing scale model decal sheet, or scavenging decals from other 1:10 sheets to replicate an alternative livery. These seem the more likely options, though I wanted to check here in the hopes that somebody knows something I do not. Hopefully, this topic can also help somebody with a similar intention for their re-re-release Lancia. Thanks in advance!

Building a TT02 White Edition for rally racing. I've been told that it will help to build the diffs with some AW grease. At least in the front. Does anyone use oil as well or will it leak out. Maybe 500,000wt? Thanks!

Just getting back into the scene after years away. In the past I ran nitro, now I'm going electric. Finally figuring out this lipo and brushless stuff, but I'm at decision point. Awaiting my new TT02 White edition kit in the mail, and I need to order a motor/esc combo but I have no idea where to even begin with regards to what I need. Here's what I know: 1) It has to be compatible with the 2s lipos I already have. (One 4000mah and one 6500mah) 2)I need both motor and esc so a combo makes sense. 3) Want to keep price around $100 or less. There are so many TT-02 builds on here (one of them is my own!) that I hesitated doing yet another TT-02 build thread. However, this one is going to be built to rally spec with a number of hop-ups, some of which I think are unique. So I hope you all find this worthwhile. I am still waiting for a fair number of bits to arrive from distant lands such as Michigan, the U.K., Hong Kong and Japan. It will be at least a couple of weeks before I can start this build thread in earnest. I will begin though with an unboxing video.

I started building my Subaru XV TT02. I got it to the point of being able to test drive it, and thought I would start a thread before it progressed any further. Plans are to do a rally build for bashing on dirt trails. Hoppups are: Tamiya TT02 CVA dampers Tamiya High Speed Spur gear Fast Eddies sealed bearings YR aluminum driveshaft. YR steering kit YR diff locker in the rear Also included, are GPM aluminum battery posts. Unnecessary, but I originally robbed the Tamiya battery posts from this kit for my Neo Scorcher Truggy. I found these on eBay cheaper than another parts tree, and went for these. To be honest, I don't like them and wish I would have gotten the whole parts tree just for the Tamiya parts. The reason being is that it's much easier/faster to pull a pin out to change the battery, than it is to unscrew two little knobs. The wheels came from eBay. I don't know the brand, and chose them just for the chunky tires. I will be putting the tires on the Subaru kit rims.

What you see here is a brand-new set of Lancia Rally wheels, which fit the original ORV-based model (58040). They are still attached to their sprues and have never been opened. These wheels will fit either the classic Michelin TRX-style rally tires that were stock to the Lancia Rally, or the Advan HF-style tires that were recently reintroduced by the Honda City Turbo. I am looking for 160 GBP (approximately $280 CAD at time of writing), which will include shipping, for these wheels, which will ship from Canada.
